I had a great experience with Lugg. After three consecutive cancellations by TaskRabbit taskers (one cancelled by me when a tasker said I needed to hire his friend at an additional significant cost), I began frantically searching for another service that could pick up a large, heavy console from a seller 25 miles away and deliver it to my home. The Lugg crew was even a few minutes early at both pickup and destination, carefully wrapped the console and delivered it without a scratch. Even with a generous tip, their price was substantially lower than TaskRabbit and Thumbtack. I'll use them again. read more

The movers who actually came were great, conscientious and did a really great job despite the fact that they received NO communication from Lugg at all. Here's why I would avoid the company: 1. works like Uber but moving something is a lot more complicated than a ride to your favorite bar. You are not able to speak to anyone, communicate specific needs, ask questions, get real specs on the vehicle that will be arriving (Lugg owns nothing. It is all the independent contractors who show up to your job - their vehicle, their physical labor, their straps and blankets, etc). 2. Lugg is a middle man and not a very good one. They have no real say on who will show up they put out a job and someone grabs it like Uber. They pretend like they have more influence but they have none. When you book a job you are asked for all of this information - photos of your items, the place, a description, etc. If you have specific directions for stuff or specific needs - good luck. Because Lugg doesn't actually forward any of this on, they don't communicate any of it to the contractors. You are SOL and on your own. 3. The poor movers get no info on the job and show up hoping for the best. This is not fair to them and sets them up to potentially fail because how can anyone go into a job blind and be expected to succeed? 4. The only real communication is through the movers assigned to your job. The emails exchanged with some teenager working remotely in the Philippines isn't going to help you with anything your experiencing in real time so your movers are the only real thing in this scam company and they don't get info until about ten minutes before they get there. So to sum it up, the VC guy who started this wants to get rich off an automated system that pings guys with trucks, provide no customer service, zero real communication that amounts to anything substantial, and ghosts you if you are not happy. There is NO way I would use this company for an actual move. If you are trying to get a mattress or a bookshelf you bought off craigs shuttled last minute - sure, fine. But do not move anything substantial with this VC crap. Oh and if you do use them tip the poor movers they are the ones doing everything and guaranteed they are paid in pennies on the dollar. read more

Avoid this company and save yourself the headache. They only operate through an app and have no phone number for customer service. I scheduled a delivery through the app, provided both addresses, and uploaded pictures of the furniture as requested. No one contacted me until a driver was assigned about 10 minutes before pickup. The driver, Vincent, then told me I was supposed to know the weight of the furniture. I asked why the app didn't ask for the furniture's weight or a receipt, and he had no answer. Instead, he became argumentative and started yelling at me. He ultimately canceled the job, claiming I should have known the table required three people when their service only sends two. How is a customer supposed to know how many movers are required when the app doesn't ask for the number of pieces, weight, dimensions, or other necessary information? When I tried calling back, the driver repeatedly hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional and frustrating experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. read more

I've used them twice. The first time was great! The second time my furniture was to be dropped off to the Goodwill. The movers told me they successfully dropped off the furniture. It was great until I then saw them leave the Goodwill with some of my newer furniture still in their truck!! They kept part of the load! It was disappointing. My personal experience was awesome and I've moved a boatload of times! The app and process were super user friendly, equipped w/ quick, accurate quotes and live chat agents to answer questions rapidly; they also follow up with an email. In addition, the app keeps you updated from start to finish, which leaves out any confusion. I booked my move just a few days out, got the truck I needed and my guys, Augustine and Ryan, were friendly, efficient and did a great job! All around, Lugg was a great value for a pro job and I'll def be using them more! I'm sure they're awesome for small jobs too, if you don't have a truck to "Lugg" things, i highly recommend! :D read more

Two men arrived at 11:45 and left within two hours. My friend and I were packing and they were supposed to be working. One guy was continuously on the phone. The other one was better but not a hard worker. When the one on the phone would work, he complained and grunted so loudly when moving things I easily move. He was sissy. Of course I couldn't rebook somewhere else because by the time I found out about the error it was 2 minutes before the end of the time slot I had booked for the night before. I hired Lugg to move a misdelivered box that was sent to the wrong address in my name. At no point did I request assembly of the item in the box, just pick up and delivery of the box. Without authorization, the drivers opened the box at the pick-up point and assembled the contents (a service which was never requested). I knew something was wrong since I was following the progress of the pickup on Lugg's app, and after the team had been at the pick-up point for half an hour I alerted Lugg by email to the fact that there was a problem. They responded rapidly to let me know they "escalated" the issue (so I know they can respond quickly when they choose to). This is the last exchange I had with them. Subsequent emails from me regarding being overcharged have had no response. Additionally, I have since discovered that the cardboard from the box and the packing contents were left strewn over the pick-up property. When I received the bill, the cost was over twice the estimate because of the manhours put into assembling the item. And Lugg is ghosting me. They have no public number you can call to speak to someone. I'm stuck with an unreasonable bill that cannot negotiated. I seriously believe you can do better if you just spend a little more time looking for any other company to deal with whatever you're moving. read more

I ordered a truck for "Apartment moving" and they showed up with a van. It took us all day and two trips to load and unload. I was overcharged and never received an invoice with details about the charges. I was missing a valuable pottery. They claimed that nothing was left behind in the truck. It is impossible to reach anyone responsible by phone. All is dealt through the movers' cell phones. I must say that the movers themselves were very hard working and helpful (with the incentive of a great tip). I would never use them again for moving a whole apartment worth of items. We used Lugg previously to move one piece of furniture from a store to the house and that worked out well. read more

I hired Lugg to move a sofa bed from one room to another. I'll say that they did try but couldn't get the job done. Also, they did do some minor damage to walls during the attempt. I'm shocked that this company has 2.9 stars at the time of this post. They should have 1 star at most. Lugg was referred by Arhaus to move a floor sample from store to home. Lugg damaged my beautiful Arhaus piece. There is NO phone number. That should be red flag #1. I can only reach them by email (although Jordan Brown, owner of Lugg, is clearly searchable) and wait days for their response. After more time than a week from damage, they offered an $800 discount, which is less than half of what I had paid for the table. I told Arhaus to stop recommending Lugg, since there is no phone number and this is obviously a scammy business. I made this mistake so no one else has to. I recommend everyone stay away. I would have gladly paid double the $174 charged to me to real movers, licensed, bonded, and insured. read more

horrible company. purchased a few pieces at rh, contacted this company based on rh recommendation, downloaded their app and they only needed the pictures of the items. the movers went to rh then called telling me these pieces are heavy and i needed to know the weight of each item??? like i go to rh with a scale. there is no place on their app to upload the reciept. there is no customer service phone number to contact anyone. the only person called me to let me know they needed a bigger truck and a third person was the mover when he arrived at rh store. all these should have been done before i paid for the haul. i will call rh to remove lugg movers from their favorite list of movers. do not fall for their game uless you take a big industrial scale with you to weigh everything you buy and even then there is no place in the app to communicate to them the weight of each furniture!!! avoid-avoid-avoid..... read more

The movers were prompt and worked hard. Unfortunately, they came in a van instead of a moving truck, and without any padded blankets. About half of my stuff got loaded Tetris style. They told me that I would need to book another move to get the rest. I had to extend my lease for another 3 days and I hired another mover with a real truck and proper supplies, and the cost was much more reasonable. read more

I scheduled a truck with two movers to pick up a second-hand armoire. According to the company, a truck and two movers is what I would need for one large piece of furniture. A van arrived instead (because they were closer?) and after dropping the armoire and knocking it into a garage door, they realized it wouldn't fit into the van because of the wheel wells (I told them the dimensions before hand). They said I needed a box truck instead. I was concerned because the price for that truck was a lot more. They assured me wouldn't really be that much because it was only one item and loading and unloading would only take a few minutes. Fast forward, box truck arrived, movers were great, got the armoire to my house, tipped, done. Then I got the receipt. The Lugg estimate I used to determine if I could afford to buy this furniture was $106. I understood it might be a little more. And after the truck change I knew it would be even more (box truck base price was around $152), but I had already paid for the furniture so it had to get to my house somehow. I was charged over $400, which is wildly more than any estimate I got originally from the website, according to THEIR recommendations. I will never use Lugg again and will advise anyone who asks to look elsewhere for movers. read more

It's a great idea for a company, but the service seriously needs to be reconsidered. I keep getting overcharged for the time of the Lugg. The estimate is always 30-50% lower than the reality, mostly because the luggers take their time. My most recent experience, they showed up 20 minutes early to the selected window and I was charged for those 20 minutes, when the pickup location wasnt open yet. My experience before, the Luggers charged an extra hour for what wouldve been a one hour job. There was a 30 minute lull between picking up the piece and actually heading to the drop off, and then a 30 minute lull after they dropped off the piece, while they just sat in their car outside. I had to reach out to customer service both times to receive refunds for time, but it's just really disheartening that this keeps happening and causes stress, and i cant trust any of the Luggers. It's not a great relationship to have with a company. There needs to be quality control for these types of things. read more

After booking I read the email confirmation-- you are responsible for providing parking for the drivers or paying for their time to find parking. Finding parking can take forever in Manhattan-- Lugg either needs a driver to wait in the car or change their pricing model-- it doesn't work in Manhattan. Service requested was to move a fridge purchased on Facebook Marketplace to my house. I booked 2 movers, a fantastic father-son team. They were both hard working and persistent with a fridge move over a grassy backyard! They came with their own tools and were prepared for all the hiccups that came with moving out the old one for Bulky Item pick-up through trash service! The hookup was taken care of by me, only because the brand of fridge was different and hook-up was rare. I ended up successfully doing it myself! I was so grateful to have found LUGG! I didn't know they do a lot of Marketplace relocations! Handy for those of us who don't have moving trucks handy!! I definitely recommend their services. The average quoted was way under what I paid, but we didn't know the old dead behemoth of a fridge had to be taken apart, doors off, in addition to my FRONT DOOR taken off and then everything put back together!! (Fridge came with the house!) I was happy to pay for their hard work and understanding. They were extremely adaptable to the situations that surprised us all! Thank you for your help! I am a first time customer of Lugg. I will run through my entire experience. I initially cringed with the Lugg app as it asks the customer to determine the size of vehicle needed when I feel it obvious that people who don't own a truck are not particularly knowledgeable about the cargo size or weight and what various trucks/vans can handle. The owner of entertainment center being moved told me they moved it in 2 trips with an SUV so I chose a pick up truck option. The app does allow for uploaded photos of pieces being moved. I assumed so Lugg people could verify. I thought my assumption correct when on the morning of the move I received a text from Lugg informing me that my order had been "upgraded to an XL van at the same rate." Seemed like a good company willing to take a little less to gain a new customer who may have underestimated. The cost estimate was for $145.94. I accepted that assuming the price would likely be a bit higher, but still very fair. When luggers Erick and Ramon arrived in an XL van, Erick called me to tell me my item would not fit in his vehicle and that I would have to cancel my order and reorder again. The customer at the pickup location overheard him, took a picture of the spacious van with the doors open and sent it to me telling me Erick was lying. I then texted that photo directly to Erick giving him the opportunity to reconsider making the delivery. That upset him and he wasn't going to admit his unscrupulous behavior. This is when I realized Lugg has no phone and all communication must be done through the app, texting and emailing, leaving one wondering when or if you will even get a reply. I did get in touch with Lugg customer service immediately. No long wait. I sent them the photo of spacious van and text messages I had regarding the situation and costs. All were very helpful and wanted to get my delivery made. Ryder was especially gracious and even offered a $25 credit for the bad experience. I agreed and the delivery was made. Erick wouldn't speak, let alone look at me. Ramon was all business. They were both gentle with the pieces and made the delivery without any additional problems. I gave Ramon a cash tip, but since Erick refused to acknowledge me I put his back in my pocket. Ten minutes later I received a text notification from my bank informing me of an additional $79.41 charge from Lugg. My total was now $225.35. I looked over the bill and saw I was being charged the booking charge, a base charge, the mileage charge, labor charges, and tax. I noticed on the labor charges that I was being charged $137.70 for 85 minutes @$1.62/min at the pick up location and $24.30 for 15 minutes at the delivery location. The luggers/contractors were charging Lugg and thus me for all the time they sat around texting with Ryder at Lugg about the order. I contacted Lugg again through email. Kelby, Janie and Sam were all professional and very helpful. Janie reached out and acknowledged the overcharge at the pick up location and promised a refund for $64.80 reflecting 40 minutes of time. In the end my total charge came out to $160.45. They did still deduct the $25 "poor experience" credit as well. I am pleased with Lugg's quick response and willingness to set things right. My delivery was made at a fair price. I believe this to be an issue with an exploitive contractor and will give Lugg another try. read more

Used Lugg for junk removal in 2024. The service was fine, no issue with the service people. However Lugg charged my credit card on file 3 MONTHS LATER for a "dumping fee". As others have said there is no phone number. Emails have gone unanswered. Disputed with credit card company and ultimately they would not reverse the charge as they also couldn't get in contact with Lugg. I won't use this service again. Sketchy. read more

A local furniture store recommended that I contact Lugg.com to remove my old living room set before I received my new furniture. I indicated that the items be donated to a reputable charity in Orange County. Although the drivers mentioned that this charity approved the sofa and loveseat because it was free of rips, tears and stains, the charity rejected the items due to lack of room in their warehouse when the drivers attempted to deliver the items onsite. I gave the drivers a nearby charity to donate the items. I had to do all of the legwork for the drivers to find another charity. After my old furniture left my house, it should not be my responsibility. Lugg charged me obscene labor costs although it was not my fault that the initial charity changed their mind when the drivers arrived at that location. Beware of Lugg.com. They gave me a reasonable quote but they do not disclose the hidden costs!!! I wish I did my research first before contacting this shady service.
