Maple bacon old-fashion
Kristi B.

This location is a little off the beaten path in Lakeland, Florida but it is worth a drive and visit. There are tours that are offered on Saturdays by reservation. Which you can make it online or when you arrive. They also have a bar area where you can sip handcrafted cocktails from the rum that they distill there. They have several different types of rum as well as different liquors that they do in-house. Their mixologists, definitely know how to create some very memorable beverages as well and are just a pleasure to have a conversation with. Seriously some of the nicest people that I've talk to in a long time. My husband opted for the maple & bacon, old-fashioned made with the risky business rum. If you would have told us that he was drinking bourbon, we would have believed him. It definitely did not have that rum flavor and was absolutely delicious. So much so we actually bought a bottle to bring home. I started with their apple pie crumble which was made up with their spiced rum and other bitters and topped with cinnamon whipped cream and apple pie crumble. Definitely a very dangerous drink, but it was a great start. Our second round we decided to let the mixologists showcase their skills, I asked for something spicy and was presented with a spicy piña colada using their coconut rum. My husband stuck with the old fashion, but asked for it to be a little less sweet and they delivered.

Christian knows his stuff! The tour was as educational as it was tasty. We are huge fans of what they are doing here and will be supportive of their operations. What they are doing with their rums will be successful. If you are bourbon fans, which we are, you will not be disappointed! We will be back!

Lugo's is a classy, speakeasy style distillery. Perhaps one of Lakelands best keep secrets. If you live in town or are just passing through take time to visit here. Alex is the master mixologist, he makes some of the best cocktails you will have have. He comes up with some truly great creations to fit your style. The service is 5 star and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Go enjoy!!!

Even though I was the only customer at the bar today, this was a very pleasant stop on my way to…read moreSebring. There's a laid back vibe, set back from the road and we're out in the middle of nowhere, a dozen miles from Sebring and/or Lake Placid. But don't fret! Distilling their own rum, vodka, gin and moonshine, there's something here for anyone who enjoys a boozy drink. They have a nice wrap around bar and a music stage with plenty of parking. I let the bartender make a recommendation and I ended up with a big cup of their "electric lemonade" which was a mix of their lemon-flavored vodka and lemonade. A perfect drink on a warm and sunny spring afternoon. Look out for the house cats. The grey one wanted all of my attention. [Round number review 2100 in Florida - 457 of 2025 - 24019 overall]

Tina and another girl, who would not give us her name, and who really was a snooty type, were at the outside bar. Tina was very informative about the product, seemed knowledgeable and interested in selling the product. We tasted a few of the distillery offerings but nothing really stood out for me to bring home with me. The outside venue was nice, had a heater going since it was a bit cool, and seeing a lot of the same folks out and about is always a nice treat. Personally I would not drive further than I had to visit the place, but it is a local distillery and supporting locals is really a good thing

I visited Dark Door Spirits on a Saturday for there monthly create your own bottle event…read more It is an hour and a half Whiskey experience where you get to taste Dark Door Bourbon and Rye and come up with a combination for your own bottle. You leave with a bottle of your own blend. The cost of the event is $150 per person and includes the bottle that you blend. I had stayed in the car for a few minutes before joining John inside and the Christina had ALL of them lined up- there were so many bottles. So.... the only time I left buzzed from samples. Gin, Rum, Whiskey, Vodka, Tequila, Liquors. They had damn near everything here. Plus craft cocktails and a couple cocktails on tap. I mean- wow. Favs: Pandemic at the disco- I think the smoothest Vodka I have EVER had and the name and bottle are was hilariously fun Demeter- a citrus-botanical gin which I loved at first sip and that was before I knew it was named after a Greek Goddess Smoked- They have 2 flavors of smoked Rum, both Mesquite and Hickory- I liked the mesquite better and this was John's favorite Sprit of the Harvest- Classic Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey, another very smooth liquor- Rye whiskey can sometimes be a little harsh- but not this one Those are the ones we bought. Special mention: Underworld- Agave Spirit (Tequila)- I don't care for Tequila, the only time I enjoyed samples was in Mexico and now this place. It was delicious Lost Cause- holy hell. That's all I am going to say about that Did I mention- I didn't even try them all!?!?! They make some IPA blend Whiskeys and collaborate with local breweries. Their stills were inspiring- I can't remember how tall their big ole still was, but it was awesome!
