Lugo's Craft Distillery, can you say hand crafted elegant RUM cocktails; yes that is right RUM. OMG, I surely wasn't expecting to love rum as much as I did on this visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue is chic and in my opinion elegant. It was tight and a little cloistered, you can squeeze about 50 or so people in there. Even so, there is a limited bar area and lounge type seating with couches, etc[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came on a Thursday evening and got to meet a few of the refulars. Really like this place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So imagine classic craft cocktails like an old fashion or a martini, but with RUM. That blows my mind. I had a smoked old fashion and it was smoother with the rum and tasted just as good. A few things you need to know. There are no menus except for a QR code. You can set up an account and order that way. If they are not too busy, you can also order the old fashioned way by talking to a human. The humans on this visit were Chad the bartender and Alex who I think was the manager. Alex was both knowledgeable, friendly and I think the creator of many of these genius cocktails. I really need to go back because on this trip we were on a budget. The drinks are on average between $14 - $18 and well worth the price, but as you can imagine the bill can get "bigly" pretty quick if you lose track enjoying the fantastic ligation. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE... incredible cocktails. My first time at Lugo's did not disappoint and I will definitely be back. I tried several cocktails from the menu and also tried an off menu drink. My favorite was the American Pie cocktail which was in their Fall Cocktail Sneak Peak menu. It was amazing and perfectly creamy with hints of apple and caramel. This location is a little off the beaten path in Lakeland, Florida but it is worth a drive and visit. There are tours that are offered on Saturdays by reservation. Which you can make it online or when you arrive. They also have a bar area where you can sip handcrafted cocktails from the rum that they distill there. They have several different types of rum as well as different liquors that they do in-house. Their mixologists, definitely know how to create some very memorable beverages as well and are just a pleasure to have a conversation with. Seriously some of the nicest people that I've talk to in a long time. My husband opted for the maple & bacon, old-fashioned made with the risky business rum. If you would have told us that he was drinking bourbon, we would have believed him. It definitely did not have that rum flavor and was absolutely delicious. So much so we actually bought a bottle to bring home. I started with their apple pie crumble which was made up with their spiced rum and other bitters and topped with cinnamon whipped cream and apple pie crumble. Definitely a very dangerous drink, but it was a great start. Our second round we decided to let the mixologists showcase their skills, I asked for something spicy and was presented with a spicy piña colada using their coconut rum. The only drink offerings are all made with rum, so if you don't like rum this place is not for you. Price of drinks are also a bit high starting at 14 $ per. Old-fashioned was good. They cut me off after one drink James at the bar made me have a water and wouldn't serve me.

So sad. After 10 minutes of not being able to acknowledge although we sat at the bar someone finally approached us and couldn't tell us the ingredients in two of the holiday drinks. He left and 10 minutes of nothing we left. read more

We visited Lugo's for a tour and tasting and was not disappointed! Not being well versed in the world of rum, we really were not sure what to expect. The tour and tasting is free, you only have to make reservations online. The tour itself lasted about 45 minutes and you had the chance to try about five or six different tasters. This is a family business and the passion they have for the spirits they serve is easy to see. After the tour and tasting we visited the adjacent lounge and was able to watch the mixologist work their magic and create made to order drinks. The environment is great and the staff honestly make you feel as though you are part of the family! There was no food, but the spirits were great! We will definitely be introducing this fabulous space to our local friends and I can't wait for our next visit. read more

Seen these guys on the news a few days ago and was surprised to hear they had a distillery here in Lakeland. Just had to try it out then. Stopped by today and was very impressed. They make a selection of rums here with their signature drink being an old Puerto Rican drink they call Pitorro which is a sort of moonshine rum. Delish! Got a very enjoyable tour and walk-through of how they distill it, then got a few free tastings and ended up leaving with a bottle and some nice cocktail recommendations. Would def recommend a visit. We went to Lugo's Craft Distillery today on short notice while we were in the area. My husband made a reservation so that we could tour the facility. We were met by Peter and Ana, the owners of the company. They both shared a wealth of knowledge about the distillery and their process. We had a tasting at the end and enjoyed the opportunity to taste their rums and the different fruits and spices they were testing in the rum.
