We came upon this place while walking around Cork. There is inside and outside seating. We ate inside and were told we had to leave within an hour and a half. It worked out ok even though service was a bit slow. The menu was quite varied including fajitas, pizza, burgers, steak, lasagne, and seafood. Ah the mighty Luigis, I fear success has gone to your head. A Cork staple, Luigi Malones has been around for years and it used to be really good. The food used to be really fantastic quality but now they just don't seem to care. From the fajitas to the yaki soba, it was all just tired and wilted. They talked up their Meaning of Life dessert as all you have been looking for but it was just Bailey's cheesecake! Yeah it was okay, but once I was halfway through I realised it was frozen in the middle. Um, what is the meaning of life there? I'm not going to be going back here any time soon. Luigi's. It is like an experienced restaurateur set up a wonderful menu and nice interior and then left it to his alcoholic cousin to manage. The staff was somewhat rude and definitely not on top of it. Menu items arrived not as described, white sauce instead of red sauce, which was on the menu, with pasta. We called them out on it, and they said it was always that way. So... Change the menu description, maybe? The food was good, but the chef seems to have a salty palette, which I do as well, but it was still a bit much. Drinks, especially the sangria, were terrible. So much so, I would retrain or fire the bartender if this were my restaurant. First course of soup was great. Main course of pasta was very rich white sauce and salty, but also good. No room for dessert here. Had espresso and it was terrible. I never add sugar or creme, but added both to this. Restrooms were dirty. Dining room was nice, but over lit for a fine dining establishment. I would not comeback here if/when I come back to Cork. read more

No Guinness and no Murphy's? What's going on? Rough start. But things picked up from there. My pizza was deeeeeelicious. And huge. Bigger than I could handle. But that's a good problem. If you are trying to sell yourself as a pizza place, it's good that you can make a good pie. I like the decor as well. Some might have thought it a little cheesy (i.e. my fellow yelpers), but I can't complain. As casual restaurants go, they tick all the boxes. read more

LUIGI MALONE'S It was an hour past my lunchtime and I was in Emmett Place, the right place and time to try out Luigi Malone's all day (up to 5.00pm) menu. No regrets, very enjoyable, good food, good value, friendly service. Main course was a Jambalaya: chicken, prawns and tomato salsa with tagliattelli. Spicy, tasty and filling. Cost was less than a tenner and a glass of wine on this menu cost just 3 euro. Finished off with their famous Toberlone Cheesecake with a cup of coffee and the cost for the combination was €5.90. The cheesecake was lovely -though I didn't particularly notice anything that would make it famous - and the coffee was fine. Enjoyed the break and would recommend the place. read more

Overall a nice experience. I went here with a hens group of 23 and on the plus side the service was brilliant, quick food and no confusion with 23 ladies ordering. We had a set menu which had plenty of choice but I will say the food was just nice. Nothing bad but nothing great. Wings, nachos, fajitas, lasagna kind of food. It was perfect for what we wanted before hitting Cork city. The interior is really nice and the staff are lovely. Great location too, right next to the quays in the city center. read more

McDonalds for grown-ups. It really feels like it was designed with this in mind. I'm not referring to the food though, which is fine. I'm referring to the aircraft hangar sized rear section of the restaurant that seems to host every work night out in Cork City. It's good craic if you're with a group of people, the staff are really on the ball and will keep the drinks flowing if you ask them to. Just don't expect an intimate dinner here. read more

This place has sadly declined over the last few years. Ten years ago, it was a fantastic place to go, with great food and atmosphere but my most recent visit was a bit disappointing. The toilets badly needed to be cleaned, the service was only ok - we were waiting about 20 minutes for the bill at the end, which wasn't too bad when we were in a small group but could have been better. Luigi Malones used to be one of my top picks when it came to restaurants in Cork. But unfortunately the standard of food has taken a nose dive. The last few times I've been, I've been disappointed.
