Bought a leather briefcase during a visit to Florence several years ago, one of the brass attachments came off due to wear and needed to be reattached. I was not hopeful that it could be repaired as it was specialized work. Stopped by Luigi's on a visit to Princeton and discovered a native Italian craftsman who is incredibly skilled. I dare you to take a risk on your shoes. I went to repair my sandal (the ankle strap snapped). Sewing the ends back together is all that had to be done. So instead of properly matching the ends, they were overlapped. They were matched in such a poor way, that I can no longer walk in them properly, so therefore I cannot use my sandal. Essentially I just lost my favorite pair of shoes. I will never go there again, and am turned off on such poor craftsmanship. read more

I brought a pair of Cole Haan penny loafers to Luigi for having a new sole put in, as well as refinishing the appearance of the leather on the upper leather part of the shoe. The loafers had been worn in bad weather and in grass, they were really showing signs of wear. For $35, my shoes have new life! I am really impressed with the quality of work done. I brought two pairs of Goodyear welted shoes in for resoles. Instead of removing the old soles and sewing new ones on, the store sanded the front half of the old soles off and glued a partial sole on each and in the process sanded into the welts, which will force more expensive work to be done the next time I need a resole. I don't understand how a cobbler can get a resole job so wrong. Probably a fine approach cemented shoes, but for others, I would avoid. read more

Heel fell off at on jet bridge in Philadelphia airport Monday morning when I landed. Went to show shiner and was told, "No, we can't reattach your heel". I quickly reached out to a shoe repair place while driving on the highway towards the Princeton area where I worked and Luigi told me he could take care of it no problem. Came in the store and he joked around about how it fell off, saying "what, did someone try to take your shoe!". He then offered to repair it on the spot. A+ service, and he only charged me $5. THE WORST BUSINESS I HAVE EVER USED!!! DO NOT GO HERE! I don't understand how on earth this place got the reviews it got. I gravely misjudged the reviews online and took my boyfriend here to shorten a $250 Martin Margiela belt I got for him. WHAT A TRAGEDY!!!! The belt is supremely ruined and I wish I could post a photo here to show how awful it was treated. The leather is cut horribly, it was shaved too thin and the stitching is off the edge so if you apply any stress the leather will now rip. I don't know what to do. I cannot believe this person has wasted so much money of mine. My boyfriend went back to confront him and he threatened to "F**K" my boyfriend up for yelling at him. WHAT! He's an old man who thinks he knows everything and will berate you and scream at you for questioning him and ruin your things! He claimed it could be fixed if we left it with him again... then why wasn't it fixed before it was given to us??? I'm never bringing anything here again! I feel sick at the money lost on this pit. Before finding out about Luigi's, I had my shoes repaired at local Dry cleaners. Luigi's does a great job of repairing heels (women's high heels), is affordable, and efficient. They usually take about 2 days, vs 1-2 weeks for a dry cleaner. read more
