All the food trucks and stalls are in a different area. Communal tables are set up as well. The lines are long but worth the wait. We got to try a Mexican hot dog with Frito chips on top, killer coffee and a Taiwanese fried chicken cutlet. This was the perfect place for me to buy some souvenirs to bring back. And of course I got some goodies for myself. My son got a small tub of homemade salsa. Tons of booths to explore. I highly recommend. Make sure to wear tons of sunscreen.

We explored the front of city hall and the square nearby, the convention center, and some of the eateries. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff was closed due to NYE! It was a little shocking considering other cities keep things open. I definitely want to go back to see what the nightlife really looks like. From what I can tell Tucson's taco drop was going to be poppin' but we weren't here for that. My family and I came to watch the Tucson Roadrunners at the Convention Center's arena. Parking was $10 and traffic was super light. The streets were a little tight in some parts of Downtown but nothing we couldn't handle. There's a lot of new apartment/loft complexes being constructed which is nice to see. Tucson is booming! Overall, I had a great time. I enjoyed the subtle desert decor and artistic murals, it was very charming! The signage was very clear and we navigated through the streets easily. Note: Bikes are available to rent! Oh, and a new food hall is coming to DT Tucson! Yay!

Downtown Tucson is currently bustling with the annual Tucson Rock and Gem show. Many of the hotels…read morealong I-10 are occupied by vendors from all over the world. You'll find just about everything your heart desires. There are rocks, gems, fossils, supplies for rock hounds, beautiful displays of precious gems, artifacts, toys, clothing and much more. The show runs for two weeks. You can't possibly see everything in the two weeks. Choose what you want to see and focus on that. There are free shuttles that take you to different areas in Tucson. Fun times. Be ready to park in fee lots. Very little free street parking unless you are on the outskirts of the town.

Looks like a giant donut!…read more This piece of public art is very simple, just an upright circle that lights up at night. It was was originally created for the Luminarias del Pueblo fundraising auction in April 2005. It is located in the median on West Alameda Street between El Presidio Park and the Tucson Museum of Art. I put in a location edit on Yelp back in Nov. 2022 since the location marker was incorrect. Hubby & I drove all over looking for it. Since then, it has been corrected. Be careful crossing the road to get to it! Desert O is a translucent ring that is 6 feet in diameter This object has a steel skeleton inside that can be seen both during the day and at night. It basically looks white and pretty unremarkable during the day. The ring displays a pattern of colored LED lights that circle slowly inside the sculpture. It is covered with frosted acrylic panels that make it glow brightly. This art is a solar-powered. There is one 'secret' touch-sensitive button that allows visitors to control the lighting. You have to find it from the hundreds of metal fasteners holding the sculpture together. It was nice to get out and take a look at this public art!

The…read moretrolley runs about 6-7 blocks down University from the U of A main gate, then turns south on 4th Ave for another 8 blocks or more and takes you through the restaurants, coffeehouses and shops that are commonly found in the vicinity of a major University. The trolley car itself is cool. I found out from the conductor that it was made in Japan around 1950. They bought it for scrap value but it was costly to move to the US. Much of the signage is in Japanese. The car is well crafted and comprised primarily of wood. The trolley is $1 to ride but Sundays are only .25. You can pretty much hop on or off anywhere along the route which is very convenient. The trolley ride really lends itself to a relaxing afternoon wandering around this neighborhood.

There was plenty of wine, beer, and a couple cocktails. It's easy to overdo it when you're sampling drinks, so be careful to keep track! A couple of the restaurants had run out of samples before we could get to them, but we still had plenty. They had great live music. Red Door Spa was there as well. My friend got a massage, and I got a five-minute manicure from the girls there. It was really fun. We enjoyed walking through the galleries a little as well. Overall, fun event. The ticket price is pretty high at $50, I wouldn't say you necessarily get your money's worth in small plates and tastings, but it's a fundraiser for the museum and a very nice event.

CRUSH is one of those events that you look forward to ever year. The Tucson Museum of Art is an incredible space and houses some great art collections in addition to fabulous events throughout the year. CRUSH is all about bringing foodies, wino's and art lovers together to celebrate and support the museum. Getting to taste food from many of our favorite local restaurants and chatting with the chefs is one of my favorite parts of the evening. Chef Janos, Hacienda del Sol, Tavolino, Lodge on the Desert, Primo, Jasper cafe, Abbey, Jax Kitchen, Flemings, Armitage, Paradise Bakery, Tubac Resort and so many more were this year. The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived. A lovely hostess greeted us and we had a fantastic server. I ordered gnocchi alla bolognese and my partner got pollo parmigiana. While the pollo was very good the pasta with the sauce were not great. The gnocchi alla bolognese were fenomenal. They serve it in a deep dish that keeps the food very hot for a long time. Every bite was delicious. Their bolognese has a serious kick to it so if you are not into spicy food I would skip it. We got a tiramisu for dessert and it was spectacular!! One or actually two comments I must make which were unpleasant. The bread was served in the bread basket covered with a napkin and it was very cold as if it just came out of the fridge. In about 5 minutes after delivering the bread a young lady who was not our server came up to us and asked if she could take it away. We said that it just arrived, however, she was somewhat insistent so we let her take it away. She took the basket, the oil, the vinegar and the plate with an uneaten slice of bread. I talked to the event director for a moment and told her it was a nice event. We talked about ways to get younger members coming in to the museum. I've been a member for at least 20 years and it's a great deal. I also had a chat with the people from the Tucson Symphony of which I have had Season tickets for the last 20 something years, the crew I go with are almost 80 and we talked about targeting the 40 to 50 range of people to go to the symphony. The restaurant is divided into separate rooms, which adds to the authentic feel. There was more seating than I thought there would be. I ordered the linguini Alfredo and it was pretty good. They also bring garlic bread to the table, which went great with the pasta. To drink, I had the watermelon lemonade and it was super refreshing, especially for a hot Arizona day. The staff was friendly and our waitress did a great job checking on us and offering recommendations to order when we asked. I'd definitely come back again, especially to try their pizza next time.
