AITA!!! We hired…read moreLuis to do our wedding photography last November 23', we had hired him prior to do our nieces Quince so we knew he was on time and worked hard We waited 2 months after our wedding before reaching out for our pictures, he stated that he was almost done with them, to give him til the end of the week, then a few more days, then he got sick. My wife and I are all about family and we understand that things in life happen. We had no rush to get our photos; around February we messaged again, and then around April-May he began posting on his IG, he seems better so we gave him more time, around July we reached out and no response, my wife and I were busy moving and having our life events, so again, no rush. LATE SEPTEMBER COMES and my wife reached out AGAIN, but this time she requested to have a talk about a partial refund, he ignored my wife's email for about a week and responded with something along the lines of "I had already sent you the link, your pictures were done a while back"; my wife and I checked her email, spam folder, text messages and missed calls....NOTHING! He used this email as a reason to not look bad, and to top it off, he sent us over 1,200 pictures, a lot, right? We liked about 5 pictures of us and about 12 of the whole 8+ hour wedding. Most of the photos are repeats. Imagine 1 picture, with an average of 5-7 duplicates and perhaps different filters on them. He had what appeared to be the same picture almost 20x with different filters. I thought we were clear on the pictures we wanted but I guess we weren't because: 1) he didn't capture details from our wedding that we had asked for, like our whole wedding cake, sweethearts table, or handmade chandeliers that a friend gifted us for decorations, 2) the wedding cake and the toppers weren't fully visible, either the cake or the toppers are blurry, not 1 picture shows both just right. This was the same for other wedding details, like our wedding favors. 3) he captured maybe 2-3 events where we were happy to see our guests having fun, we loved those pictures, but the rest seems like our wedding had no "life" in it, which is difficult for a Mexican wedding of 200+ people to not have 4) our church! 1 thing we loved about our church were the colors that the sun rays give off once they hit these beautiful stained glass windows. Idk if he had the contrast too high or if it was during his editing, but there was no color in them! (Which should have been captured because people complemented our church, and I clearly remember seeing the beautiful green, yellow, blue, red light shining through these windows. There were a handful of pictures where he did capture a bit of the red, weren't great, but were nicer) 5) most of our pictures were high in contrast, had no color (we got married at an olive ranch, beautiful green trees, like 2 show the greenery, other than that, they're too bright! 6) he didn't capture a good close up of our first kiss at the church. 7) my wife had apparently insisted on him and made sure he understood that she wanted my first look reaction, which he later tried to stage. I'm not gonna lie, we were probably difficult to work with, he stayed a lot longer than he should've, but I'd like to believe we treated him kindly and fairly. Luis can work a lot better with posed photos, like with graduation shoots, but I would NOT recommend him for candids, weddings, or any big important events that are shot live. We feel like we were his guinea pigs for this wedding shoot. And I have texted, called and emailed him VARIOUS TIMES! Even through social media, IG, and he has not tried to get a hold of us. He has been ignoring us for a long time. I doubt we'll be able to get any type of refund or fixed photos, and we still had our late engagement shoot with him (as part of the package we paid for), but I doubt it'll happen because he does not respond. I wish I didn't have to leave a bad review, I hate to do this, since we got along well the day of, but we could've worked something out. He ROBBED us of some dear memories, I wish that could be an exaggeration, but unfortunately I suffer from a slight memory loss (from a TBI) where I must see proof to remember some things. This is the person you'll be working with if you hire Luis for a wedding. Attached some pictures and I blurred peoples faces to protect their identities. These were some of the common style of pictures he took.

My wife and I got married this past December, and we couldn't be happier with our wedding…read morephotographer, Jennifer Michelson / A Girl and a Camera. I actually found Jennifer after searching online for photographers in San Francisco and her work immediately stood out. Her style felt fresh and unconventional -- more documentary and journalistic than traditional -- and I especially loved her use of black and white photography, which was a big reason we chose her. The day started at our hotel, where she jumped between our separate rooms to capture my wife and me getting ready. Before she had even gotten to our rooms, she had already scouted the perfect location for our first look. The moment was absolutely incredible, and she handled everything; we didn't have to do a thing but follow her lead. That professional confidence continued at City Hall. She has a masterful familiarity with the building. She took full control of the shoot, guiding us as she told us exactly where to stand, how to pose, and where to move next so we could just relax and enjoy the moment. As a photographer myself, I really appreciated her confidence and professionalism. All we had to do was follow instructions and be present. She knows San Francisco City Hall inside and out -- the lighting, the angles, the timing, and the key locations that truly matter -- every shot felt deliberate and it showed. The technical skill here is top-notch-- the compositions were beautiful, the balance of each frame was spot-on, and her gorgeous color grading. We received around 300 images, and the quality is so consistent that I plan to print every last one of them in large format to ensure we have a permanent physical archive. When we received the final package, we were so touched -- she sent our photos on a beautiful USB drive along with printed images, some sweets, and other thoughtful details. It was the perfect finishing touch to a genuinely wonderful experience. If you're getting married at City Hall -- or anywhere in San Francisco -- Jennifer Michelson / A Girl and a Camera is exceptional. Thank you Jennifer! Laura and Junior.

They were professional, attentive, and so easy to have around on such an important day. What we absolutely loved was Jennifer's eye for the little moments. Beyond the portraits and formal shots, she captured the quiet glances, the spontaneous laughter, and all the small details that made our wedding day feel like ours. We can't recommend Jennifer highly enough!

My business mentor urged me to get a new professional photo to use on my website and other places…read morewhere I wanted my work to get noticed. I had been using an old photo (with the advantage that I looked younger, but not really as I look today) and also a drawn self-portrait that I thought did the job. But my mentor said, "People really want to see you on your website. They want that personal connection." So I went to Yelp, and winnowed the options down to 6 or 7 photographers in my area who did portrait photography. I researched the sites of all of them, and ended up feeling like the Goldilocks story: this one was too expensive, that one did professional head shots that looked more formal than what I wanted for myself, or too polished. (I didn't want to look glossy, just authentically attractive.) When I got to BK Photographie, I was met by landscape photos - but they were beautiful! Really lovely, magnetic, sensitive. I didn't see portraits of people there, but I intuitively trusted that anyone who could do such beautiful landscape photos could do headshots of me that would make me happy to share publicly. When I saw that he would actually come to my home (the other places had external studios), and charged a flat fee I could afford, I contacted him right away. The shoot went really well. Brian is a friendly guy with extensive photo knowledge. He came with all his equipment, though he didn't turn out to need it all. He suggested indoor poses (in a chair, standing by my baby grand piano) and outdoor poses (by a tree for its purple flower, by a tree for its stippled bark). He took dozens and dozens of photos, to the point where I stopped being self-conscious. At the end, he told me he would take a bit of time to choose and edit the photos, and then send them to me as jpg files. That was fine with me. When they finally arrived in my inbox, I was really happy with what I saw. He had chosen just a handful (two handsful, actually), out of the many click-click-clicks going on at the shoot. This pleased me too. He had chosen well. I have now uploaded several jpgs onto my website to replace the drawn self-portrait - and I can see the difference. I look vivid, friendly, present - and around my age. No matter. The beauty is there, and Brian found it and documented it for me to use and share. I highly recommend BK Watson Photographie!
