My husband and I had a blast at our wedding, and we're so glad Gabriel was there to capture it all. Writing this a week after our lovely wedding, and I'm so happy Gabriel was our photographer (yes we got the photos that quickly- 2 days after the wedding in fact). He also did our engagement photos. Gabriel is very talented with his photo composition, identification of good lighting, colors, and capturing moments. We were really happy with how beautiful and special his photos were. Friends and families complimented the photos a lot. He was also a cool guy to hang out with. Additionally, I really appreciated his responsiveness - any emailed question was not more than a few hours unanswered, and we scheduled our engagement shoot pretty last minute. Gabriel is PHENOMENAL... wow I have so many amazing things to say. First, he's just a truly lovely human. We thoroughly enjoyed all our touchpoints with him, from first interacting with his website, to our first meeting, to finalizing the contract and then finally at our actual event. Which is important right? Helps to have great photos when you genuinely adore hanging out with your photographer. Second, he totally understood our style. He recognized that we cared less about "formal" posed photos and really wanted to capture all the candid special moments... of us but also our wedding guests. But at the same time, he encouraged us to do some of the posed stuff... and we're really glad we did. Third, he's really flexible. We had an unconventional event that lasted all weekend long, and he was down to find a way to work with us to capture as many of those memories as possible. One of our events even involved dressing up in an animal costume and he sported the most adorable animal onesie, even though we didn't tell him about that until a few days prior. Finally, his photography was INCREDIBLE. I remember one of our guests was really worried that we weren't going to get very good photos because Gabriel was behind the scenes. But then later our guest commented that he couldn't have been more wrong, after seeing all the photos. Gabriel somehow finds a way to capture so many exceptional special moments without blocking the audience or being invasive. I don't know how he does it. Somehow he has photos where he's in five places at once, I swear. And he also captured a lot of little things at the event... photos I'll probably never print but will help me remember all the little things (food, vendors, the night sky, the drive in, etc.). He delivered all our photos within a week (HOWWW?!?!?! seriously AMAZING) and they were well organized, easy to download, lightly edited, nicely cropped and just perfect. We first heard about Gabriel from our nephew and his fiancée. One look at his photos and we were hooked. And then we met him and there was no turning back! We loved the subtle beauty of Gabriel's photos, and the way his pictures tell stories and capture every emotion of wedding days, from joyful tears to silliness. Our priority with wedding photography was to not feel that it was a giant production. We have been to weddings where the photographer seems to command the whole day-posing the couple in tortured and elaborate ways, pushing in front of important figures and generally making the day feel more like a photo shoot than a special event. I knew from Gabriel's photos and our consultation that this was NOT his style, but I am so pleased to say he exceeded our expectations. I scarcely remember "taking photos" on the day, yet he captured so many beautiful snapshots of the emotion and beauty of our event. Gabriel is the man. He went so far above and beyond to accommodate our somewhat unorthodox requests. For example, we rode a tandem bicycle from Mexico to Canada before getting engaged so we wanted some shots of us riding with a blurred background for our engagement pictures. To shoot this, he brought along an accomplice who rode Gabriel's bucket bike with him in the bucket riding along next to us to accomplish what we had envisioned. He has an eye for the moment and can make a seemingly unremarkable setting/background pop into the vivid and spectacular. Also, it was important to us that he capture dance floor shenanigans. A friend tried to book Gabriel for her wedding, but he was already booked. Even though she was happy with her wedding photographer, she urged me to check out Gabriel. We got married in Sonoma a few weeks ago and I'm still swooning over Gabriel's work. My wedding shall be fun! Says every bride always. But what's most fun is when other people are having fun. So despite all of the efforts I made to put together funness, I pretty much failed because as soon as I got on site, I started weeping. The opposite of fun. A friend of mine shared Gabriel's link with us and well, let's just say I fell in LOVE. The problem was that we were getting married in Oregon... I then spent the next two months searching for a photographer that met Gabriel's caliber and came up with nothing except the same old crap that wedding photographers THINK everyone wants (you know, soft focus, black and white and then a punch of color with the flowers... that crap). So, I gave up figuring I wasn't going to pay for crappy photos if I couldn't get Gabriel or a Gabriel wannabe. Enter my fabulous mother in law. Since she couldn't travel cross country to make it to our wedding, she kindly offered to pay for our photos. This isn't to say that Gabriel isn't affordable -- he absolutely is. It was just a matter of paying the extra $$ to get him to Oregon for our special day. We met up with Gabriel and instantly bonded. We wanted to not have the engagement session as part of the package, but we did it anyway since it's essentially free. We had a BLAST with Gabriel, Loretta, Winnie (their dog) and our dogs that day and really bonded with them. It was great to spend the time getting to know them and also to get used to being in front of the camera (hate it). During the wedding, Gabriel was awesome as well. I've been to some weddings where the photographer is a complete ass and literally gets mad at the guests for taking shots of his shot. He was so good about it and would say, "okay, your turn!" and then he'd tell them it was his turn. He was so great, gives awesome advice and will even be there to tell you to stand up straight ("be proud!") or to suck it in so you're happy with the end result. I highly recommend working with Gabriel. His pictures speak for themselves, so take a look at his website to see if his taste matches yours. I find that he's particularly good at taking candid shots, and shots that play with perspective and framing in a way that adds whimsy, drama, etc. in the right doses. This guy was AMAZING!!! So let's see, to start off my (now wife) and I were photographer shopping. The wife found this guy on Yelp and looked at some of his photos. After deciding his were the kind of photos she wanted, we set up a day to meet in Oakland. It was a very light hearted meeting. His was great! We did all the family photos in the church, bought him lunch, and went on to do solo photos. He made us look like well dressed rockstars. I look terrible in pictures, but in his... How does he do it?! I look great! Oh yah, the bride looked good too ;) He asked no question during the rest of the reception. He just went about doing his thing. We trusted him totally and do not regret it at all. Turn around time was great! Maybe 2 weeks before we got our pics. And man were they great! Love them all. He managed to get a shot of every one our guests, without giving any one person too much screen time. And everybody looked fantastic. Ditto what Kathleen G said. I was at that wedding. And, while I agree that Lizzie is a total stunner, I could not believe how perfectly, radiantly Gabriel captured her that day. He even pulled the closet rockstar out of her quiet, spotlight-shy man. Keen eye, quick reflexes, and just an easy presence - it was fun watching Gabriel move around the room. Even as a simple guest, I felt excited to see what he would turn up. The shots were unbelievable. Truly. Brilliant call on composition, color, cropping. Lots of stolen moments - laughter, wonder, calm. Somehow, despite having shot a million weddings, Gabriel still managed to capture the particular spirit of my friend's celebration. I envied Liz and her wedding album. Lovingly. In sum, Gabriel is so friggin good, my man suggested hiring him to just shoot random silly shots of ourselves before we get old and fat. Gabriel Harber did an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE job photographing my wedding last year. First off, I met Gabriel on a hike in Oakland about ten days before my wedding, and once I found out he was a wedding photographer asked him if he could shoot my wedding. He was extremely willing and able even with the short notice! Gabriel worked so hard on our wedding day to capture each beautiful moment, and he really did capture them. He was extremely friendly and flexible, and really listened to how my husband and I wanted our wedding photographed, and brought his own unique artistic touch to the photos. The day of the wedding he showed up early and was ready to go, and captured everything from me getting ready in my dress, to our ceremony, and the incredible dancing. Everyone who saw our photographs said they were some of the best wedding photos that they had ever seen. It has been almost a full week since we received our wedding photos from Gabriel and we are still in complete shock over how well they turned out. The photos perfectly captured the vibe of the wedding. Every shot brings a different emotion and different memory of that specific moment and they all look so great. Beyond how the pictures actually are, Gabriel was also a super cool person to have at our wedding. He made me feel more relaxed as we were waiting for my wife to come out for the first look and he made both of us feel super natural and comfortable after the ceremony when we were taking pictures with just three of us.
