I have been a customer of Luke Adams Glass since late fall. I'm so glad I saw the story on WCVB-Boston's show, Chronicle, advertising this great place. Their glass items are beautiful! I've bought holiday and birthday gifts for others and myself. Everyone has been happy with the colorful glass pieces made in Norwood, Ma. I've bought beaded bracelets, butterflies, stars and hearts! My very favorite piece is the green Stained Glass Tree Ornament. It is delicate and beautiful and too pretty to put away till next Christmas. Five starts to Kevin the workshop instructor for a great experience. Zero stars for customer service which is why they only get one in total. Paid to have the two pieces I made during the three-hour workshop (12/6/25) shipped to me. Was told they would be one week to me (I live an hour away). Three weeks later and nothing. Multiple phone calls unanswered - there voicemail is full because they don't respond. Multiple emails - no response. For a business that has plans to open an onsite restaurant and offer more, they don't seem to understand that customer service is the most important thing they can do. read more

I went for a glass blowing experience with a friend over a month ago, and not only did we not receive the promised text to come pick up our pieces from our obviously high/under the influence glass blowing instructor, but he somehow caught paper on fire during our experience and had to stamp it out. We felt ill at ease the entire time, never received notification to pick up our pieces, AND both she and I have reached out to the studio and received no response. Choose literally any other glass blowing studio. I've also had a glass-blowing experience at another studio in RI and it was magnitudes better. read more

SCAM No customer service at all. I paid for and received a pumpkin a month ago that obviously is not first quality as the pumpkin is light yellowish orange an theres a large red blob in the top of the pumpkin. They sell seconds and this should have been one. I've emailed both their addresses, filed a return request and tried to call. No answer - not a surprise. I ordered a glass pumpkin from Luke Adams. The confirmation email said the pumpkin would be ready for pick-up in 2-4 days and they would contact me. It has now been 12 days. I have tried numerous times to contact them via phone and email. They never answer their phone and they have yet to return an email. They have charged my credit card. This is no way to operate a business. Buyer beware. My next step is contacting my credit card for a refund from them. read more

I purchased a Groupon for my husband and I as an early anniversary present. We opted for the 3 hour class as it was recommended in other reviews. Booking the class was a piece of cake, although we had to do it much earlier than I had originally wanted (totally my fault for not checking schedule). It was super easy to redeem Groupon. Upon arrival we were greeted by the girl up front who explained to our group of 4 and a 1 hour class group the color choices and pieces we could choose. I had read there were extra costs so it wasn't a surprise. I was pleased the pumpkin paperweights were included and happy that the color add on price was for both pieces not per piece. So we ended up only paying $20 plus tax for using color on 4 pieces. Matt was our instructor who explained everything super clearly and was really funny. The talent he has is amazing to both be an incredible artist and also to be able to be patient and explain and teach. We each took a turn with Matt. First piece was about 15 minutes each. For the paperweight we did a few things but it was mostly Matt who crafted the paperweight. For the second larger item we had a half hour each and we were much more involved. It was fun getting to work with our partner too on a piece. One did one part, the instructor shaped and the other person got to do the glassblowing. So special. Our items were ready to pick up in a few days. Just got them today and they are beautiful! So happy we have these as a fun memory of an afternoon spent together. We got to make two items with Luke allowing us as much or as little hands as we were comfortable with. Lots of education not only in the history of glassmaking, but the process itself. I would definitely recommend this class to any one interested in a creative activity. It is hot in the hot shop. Bring water, wear closed toe shoes, bring/wear glasses to protect your eyes. My wife has been a fan of Luke Adams since we received one of their beautiful glass starfish for a wedding gift. Several other pieces have worked their way into our house since, each one unique and impressive. Since I was curious to see what other fun creations they could do, it didn't take much to talk me into making the drive to their studio to check it out. First off, I would say that winter is probably the ideal time to come here, as the furnaces keep you warm and toasty inside when it is freezing outside! Their storefront is filled with various creations both big and small. There is even a rack filled with blemished items at a reduced price. Since we saved on shipping by driving here ourselves it left more money to buy lots of awesome gifts for family, friends, and ourselves! They also offer group and private classes where you can create your own works of art! The staff are super friendly and this place is really cool for being so warm! Had a great time taking a 3-hour class with Trevor. He was a great no-BS teacher who also had a great sense of humor and our session was super fun. I learned a lot about the process of making colored glass pieces, and it's definitely a memorable experience - doing this hands-on rather than just watching someone from a distance is quite something. I'm really glad I got gently introduced to this skill in such a safe and relaxed way. Also really happy with how my pieces turned out (as far as I could tell in the annealing oven - haven't picked them up yet). We got a really good deal for the class during a Christmas promotion, but I think that for regular price this would have been quite expensive. That would be my only hesitation about doing this again in the near future. Overall this class was great. read more

Not worth the money. We went for the glass fusing class it was very underwhelming. The teacher? Was very nice but was not sure about any questions we had. We wanted to make buttons. An unheard of concept. The glass supplied were boxes of shards. Tiny shards. It was a task just to find pieces big enough. We both used extreme care in stacking the glass the proper way. Only to find that some were flipped and not restacked properly before firing. Which you are not present for. All and all a very expensive way to be disappointed. My partner and I did a three hour class here through a living social coupon. We initially were to do it on a Friday evening at 5, but between a late-into-Boston train, heavy rain, and terrible traffic, we were never going to make it on time. I called and despite the "72-hours notice", they rescheduled us for a Saturday (with a $25 fee to pay the instructor, which was totally fair.) They were really nice about it. Our actual class was led by Christina was so much fun! It was us and one other couple and Christina, and she led us through an explanation of process, colors, and the tools we'd be using, then we each took turns making a small piece (paperweights for us, pumpkins for them), and then we rotated making a blown piece (for us a vase and footed bowl, for them fluted bowls.) Christina was laid-back, confident and helpful, and was really good about letting you take on as much of the process as you could, while making sure you made something worth having. Admittedly handling molten blobs of glass just out of a 1200 degree furnace can be intimidating (even scary) but i never felt anything other than at ease. I do have one small suggestion, and that would knock a half-star off if i could: Adding color is extra. It's $10-20 additional (depending on what colors you want) and this is disclosed no where -- not on the living social coupon, and no where on their website. It feels a little deceptive, because you dont find out until you are THERE, but could easily be remedied with a note / reminder when you sign up. But overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we're already talking about going back to make Christmas presents or so the private class. read more

My 12 year old grandson wanted a glass blowing experience for his birthday. We had Matt for an instructor. Everything was excellent. Matt was a kind instructor who was aware of safety issues and the needs of a younger boy. Having some experience with hot glass I offered some suggestions to Matt who was most receptive. Teaching students the vocabulary of blowing I think will improve Matt instruction and the experience of his students. We will be going back for more for sure!!! read more

I am another Groupon buyer. My husband and I have wanted to try glassblowing for awhile so when I saw the groupon pop up I bought it right away. We got to the studio and discovered the the class was just the two of us with the instructor, so we got a ton of individualized attention. Our instructor was so awesome (I wish I could remember her name, she had short brown hair and was a bad ass!) She walked us through all the steps and shared all the important lingo with us. At first I was afraid of the 2500 degree oven, but she was very encouraging and I felt safe quickly. My husband and I both made a paperweight and a vase, and bought a pumpkin on the way out. Also, my first piece shattered before I finished (I was overzealous with the cool down process) and the instructor was cool enough to stay a few extra minutes so I could still have one by the end. Overall we had the most incredible experience at Luke Adams and we plan to go back for another class. read more

Ok, let's be fair: if I had paid full price for this, I might have more of an issue with the arrangements. But since I came with a Groupon for an "experience", I'm ok with what I got. Though I may not be so inclined to come back for another class at full price if I were to expect the same thing. Know what I mean? Might only return for another Groupon experience...which they "complain" about not making much money out of. Well...you're not using the promo to entice people to come back for the full price stuff either, dude! So here's how it rolls out - I'll list the steps and my comments for each. 1. you reserve a class online or by phone. - as my Groupon was expiring, I had about 2-3 weeks left to make it happen. Disappointingly, the website only gave me two classes that's available within that window - including one on a weekday noon time!! Even beyond my Groupon expiry date, I still don't see any availability for another month's time. Either they're that busy, or the site isn't loading properly, or their classes run that infrequently (which is diff from my impression).... or they only take a handful of people at a time so the classes fill up quick (lesson: reserve early!) - that said, while I didn't have to test it out, my gut feeling is that if you call them to book a date beyond your Groupon expiry date due to class unavailability, they'd probably let you sign up for the same class at a later date. - suggestion to merchant: list how many spots are left on the rsvn calendar; might help a lot with the visual -- instead of having customers pick how many ppl first, then showing them a bunch of dates that are "not available" (makes people feel like you're closed or something.) 2. you show up at your class time, see some sample products and pick the piece to make and color(s) you want, then you sign a waiver on the same sheet you mark your selections. - yes they do have some upsell from $5-25 if you want to make a larger/more complicated piece, or if you want to add stuff (ex. metallic) to your colours. You don't have to, and no one is pressuring you! View it as an opportunity for both! You don't even have to be dead set on your selections until the moment you're making your piece! 3. you participate in a briefing/demo by your instructor, then you take turns making your piece! - as a novice, I don't think my instructor Keith was "too hands-on". after all, the glass came out of a 2100-degree furnace; he has liability to make sure no one gets burned by it!! Even if you just dropped your glass from the rod and have to do over again, that's just wasting everybody's time you know. So I think his coaching was just right, and he was paying undivided attention to your piece while you're making it, with explanation as needed. And he looked like took each piece very seriously too, which I really appreciate. - only "caveat" is: your class time is one hour due to the wait; each person probably spends 20 min. max making his/her piece. But it was fun watching others do it...sometimes you get to help them too (which is also part of learning!) I don't mind it at all but some people may find this a "ripoff". But now you know what you're going into. 4. they put your "finished" piece into an oven to "cool down" (yes, from 2100° heat), and you return to pick up in two days' time. - honor system at that point. but I'm pretty sure they'd work something out with you if someone did take yours by mistake. - they said they'd generally keep the pieces for a couple months before they do anything to them, so it's not like your HAVE to return that soon or you'll lose your piece. shipping option (at extra cost) is also available if you live too far to come back. In all, I enjoyed the experience, and I might come back with a friend who's interested in trying! ...that is, with another Groupon and if I could actually book a class with them! Lol read more

This was my first glass blowing experience and I brought a guest. We were there for the whole 3 hours and Christine was very friendly, laid-back, and was willing to show us the ropes without getting sick of us hah! I have yet to pick up our pieces that we made but I can say that it was fun, informing, and entertaining to see you and others work on all sorts of pieces. That's the real fun of it. For 3 hours we made 2 pieces each, there are some pieces that are considered upgrades and therefore have an up charge but hey, they have to make their money somehow. Ultimately the students are moved through the motions, otherwise if we didn't, we would have deformed globs of glass. The only thing I would change is the lack of hours of operations info on the website/voicemail. I had to call during lunch to ask them this. read more

I wanted to order presents. I wanted to support a local business. I asked for curbside pick up. I got an email that yes it was possible. I tried to use the website to order and pick it up instead of waiting for UPS. Could not by pass the shipping feature in the website. Physically went to the store front. They took my order and information. I returned after getting a phone call but it disconnected but I heard enough to know they called. So I return to the store from. I am treated poorly by workers and told to walk to the other end of a building. I follow the instructions. I ask about my order. They hand me my order and try to send me on my way. I tell this person I still need to pay. She pulls the box of glass ornaments from my hand and has no clue how to charge and what my order costs. Eventually I pay and leave. Only to arrive home to a new email. Saying that curbside pick is not available. As if they didn't send me an email saying it was. As if they never took my order in person and told me how to pick it up later. I was trying to support a local business and totally regret the inconvenience I put their staff through in treating me like a fellow human being never mind a customer I will never buy a gift there. I purchased a three-hour Groupon for my sister and I back in June 2014 for her birthday. We had some trouble finding dates that would work with our schedules before the Groupon expired, but the people I spoke to at Luke Adams Glass were very accommodating, saying we could schedule a class past the expiration date of our Groupon. We finally ended up finding two slots in a Saturday morning class in March 2015. When we arrived (after a bit of confusion with Google Maps which couldn't find the building--it's right on the corner of Washington/Lenox), we were introduced to our two instructors, Caitlyn and Dylan. Our group had three couples so we divided into a group of 2 and a group of 4. I chose to make an ornament first and a scalloped bowl second. There is an additional charge of about $10-$15 for "color" which we weren't expecting (does anyone pick clear glass?), but it was worth it because they have a LOT of colors. The experience itself was awesome. I worked first with Caitlyn and then with Dylan and both were helpful, calm, and encouraging. They do a lot of the more complicated parts of the process, like making the amazing curly-q on the pumpkin, or waving the molten glass to make it flip into the scallop shape (so awesome!), but I never felt like I was just sitting there watching someone else do the work. Plus, I never felt unsafe even though the glass is so incredibly hot; they were usually right there, making sure we weren't doing something that would hurt ourselves. You will have to wait your turn while the other people in your group work with the instructors but this was fascinating too because so many of us chose to make different pieces, like a paperweight, a pumpkin, a footed bowl, a tumbler, or a vase. Please note that you will need to return in a few days after the class to pick up your piece. The finished products are still so hot that their final color isn't visible until it has gradually cooled off. We were told if we tried to walk out with our pieces, they'd shatter in the cold air. I asked about children doing this and was told that it depends on the child, though they indicated that a mature tween is probably as young as they could go. Given how blazing hot that glass is, I agree. I can't remember what I paid for this Groupon, but, whatever it was, it was worth it. Totally unique experience. read more

What an amazing experience! Very hands on guidance which I needed since I have never done this before! Our teacher Trevor was really great and you could see the passion he has for his craft. The place is set up nicely and we all felt safe. My group all made pumpkins and it was so fun to pick our colors (some colors were extra $$ but there were plenty of options to not spend extra $$). This is a unique experience and right in my hometown. I would highly suggest heading here for something fun and different to do! We had the best time making glass with our instructor and the other group of ladies that were doing a session at the same time. Visited recently for the first time, due to having bought a three hour class via Groupon. I enjoyed the experience and it was a good introduction to glassblowing. If you have never seen glassblowing up front, it's a great introduction to the art. If you go, wear something lightweight on top (you will be standing near 2000+ degree furnaces) and protective pants (I wore jeans, they are full coverage and not meltable). I wore steel tipped workboots, because after all you are in a production shop working with molten glass. I never felt unsafe at any point, but was still glad to be wearing the right stuff. They sell drinks for $2 but you can bring your own, and it does get hot. For the three hour class, there were supposed to be 4 people, each making two pieces. Two people did not show for our class, and us two remaining students got through our two pieces in a little over two hours. I read in other reviews that people in similar situations sometimes were offered the chance to work on a 3rd piece for an additional charge but our instructor did not mention this to us. Like others have said, the cost for the class only covers clear glass, and I can't imagine anyone really wants a 100% clear piece. There are three options for what colors you can use on a given piece, and some pieces have upcharges as well. In my experience, the class felt a little more like a hands on demonstration than an immersive class, mainly due to the fact that there were a lot of times the instructor completely took over and me and my classmate were sitting and watching. Looking at pictures from other folks who have posted reviews, it seems like sometimes students get more hands on time than perhaps we did, but part of the reason might be type of pieces they chose to make. I will kind of echo what others have said about arriving and being a bit confused; Guessing which door to enter, not being greeted when I arrived, not sure how colors\charges\drinks worked, where to hang coats, etc. There is a display that shows different types of pieces (actual pieces previously created) and shows several colors for some, but my classmate and I still found the color options confusing even after the explanation. Also I received a follow up email that mentioned discounts for additional classes for returning students, but I couldn't really find other classes on the website - not sure what one would 'progress' to if they went back. Overall I really liked the experience, but the "class" aspect could be better organized, and maybe make the color options \ choosing the color process easier? And for a three hour class where we only used 2 hours, I would have somehow liked more actual 'handling' time and a bit less 'watching and waiting' time. read more
