Not my personal experience with a dress, but I overheard a friend on the phone with Lula. The friend had bought her daughter's prom dress in January from Lula's and was told that it would take 1 week for alterations. Thought it would be done with plenty of time to spare before prom. In April, a week and a half before prom, it still wasn't done. I have honestly never heard a more rude business owner on the phone speaking to a customer. It took a full 5 minutes for Lula and other store employees to even locate the dress after being given the name of the customer and a description of the dress. She kept making excuses for why the alterations weren't done, saying she had so many dresses to alter that they alter them in order of prom date. That's why this dress was bought in January, to avoid the prom rush! She also could not give an estimated time that the dress would be done, just kept saying "not this week, I'll get to it next week"- the week of prom. Not only did Lula not follow through on the work that was supposed to be done, but she was extremely rude and condescending when she was questioned about it. I will not ever be using this business and I will steer everyone I know clear from it as well. Completely unprofessional. read more

I bought a dress from Mrs. Lula back in January of this year for a wedding coming up in July. The dress is beautiful and Mrs. Lula was very helpful finding me exactly the beige color dress I needed. I have to get another dress that is white, so I plan to go back and see Mrs. Lula again. She has a very large amount of formals for women and teens. I have been buying my Mardi Gras gowns from Ms. Lula for 3 years and she is the absolute best! She can literally just look at you and tell you the exact size you will need in each designer and style. I use to go to Lula's regularly for all my sewing needs. Whether it was to get my pants hemmed or a hole in my shirt. Lula's has always came through with her quality stitching. Making my clothes looking brand new & stronger as if the rip never happened. I had a case of that just recently with my dress pants I use for formal occasions & major poker games. I caught my pants pocket into the arm of a chair at a charity event I was attending. I didn't think anything happened to my pants. But when I got back to my car there was a huge rip down the side. I thought I could not get repaired. So I decided to take it into Lula's & see if I could have them salvaged instead of having them thrown away. The lady here is friendly and did a great job replacing the zipper on my dress. The only thing is she totally forgot to call us when the dress was done. Sooo a few weeks later hubby stopped by when he was nearby and it was done. He was a little frustrated because he wouldn't want to call and ask if it was done but if we need to bring anything in to be fixed again I'll just have to remember to call each week myself. read more

Worst place I've ever been to the lady was so rude from the moment we walked in and disrespectful yelling saying don't pull the dress out don't do look at them like this do it like this while pushing my mother away then me. after that we looked just a little longer but she was next to us fixing anything we would touch moving us down the line at that point where my mom was fed up so she told us we should leave as we were living we thanked that lady and walked to the front door she came behind us and said "we'll what we're you guys even looking for "with a rude voice I told her what and she said "well we have that" while rolling her eyes at me I just ok thank you and left I was not going to deal with disrespect from someone like that I rather someone 2 thousand on getting a dress made to what I want then spending anything in that store. If I could 0 stars. She took my money for alteration for a wedding that she knew prior and agreed that the alterations would be finished in time. She "started" my alternations the day before the wedding and continued giving me the run around on when it was going to be finished. After picking up the dress, she did 0 alternations. The dress didn't fit me at all but I still had to of course attend the wedding as a bridesmaid . If she couldn't do the alternations when I requested it, a week before the wedding then a simple no would of suffice and I could of found someone else to do it. I tried to support for my bestfriends wedding Lulas Alterations-fashion she was rude and disrespectful not only to me but to my mother as well. I ordered my dress in January she ordered the wrong size when she measured me then ended up getting a dress she found in her shop and the dress was supposed to be ready on a Wednesday. She told me to come in and she would alter it and have it done the Wednesday of the week of the wedding. I called her and told her that day I would be there at 4:30pm to pick up my dress, she proceeded to say the dress wasn't done and she didn't know when it would be done. I was so upset my mom called her and told her she would pick it up the next day because I had to be at the rehearsal dinner, she told my mom she couldn't give her a time and was so rude and disrespectful. She had my mom waiting all day until 11:30pm and said the dress was ready and would meet her. Since I was already out I call her and said I would meet her she then told me in the rudest tone well I'm not meeting you right now you will have to wait. I argued the wedding was tommorow and it was already midnight. My friend Kenya saw I was so upset she drove me to get my dress and it was almost 1am, once I tried on the dress she made me pay $50 for alterations after being rude, not having it ready until the night before the wedding and the hem was horrible we had to fix it the day of the wedding. It's sad when someone is so rude and disrespectful when you tried to support them. I'm warning everyone just in case she has horrible reviews on google I wish we would of saw them ahead of time. Bought a pageant dress from Lula's for my daughter. They have a great selection and Lula helped her find the perfect dress.

I brought my daughter's dress here for a daddy daughter date night and the dress was amazing. I couldn't even tell it was altered, it looked like it came off the rack this way. But It definitely didn't, there were loose areas and too big and baggy and long and etc...and Lula made it look absolutely perfect. It looked custom made to fit her. Lula's was incredible!!! I was looking for wedding and other bridal dresses like rehearsal dinner, and she had more styles that felt like what I was looking for than anywhere else I looked in Memphis. Also, the styles felt super contemporary, the other places I went were too traditional feeling for me. This is probably my new place to look for gowns! From formal to prom, especially to pageants! Her shop is at the very far left of the building, literally right behind the gym. Just right across the street from Fred's too! There are parking spaces for you to park in, so getting in wasn't the issue! When you walk in, there are "on the knee" and "sale" dresses and at the end of the room, there is the big room filled with gowns. There were tons, tons of them. It is color coordinated and by size in order. The one thing that got to me is that there only just a few same dresses that are different colors but not size. You really have to dig through each one of them. It's sort of hard to look through because all of the gowns are in plastic bags, to keep from tangling from one another, keep its diamonds in place, or not to have glitter everywhere, etc... Who knows, so that's smart. Lula was the only person working on the day I went. There was quite a few customers around, we all had assistance and her advices when it comes to trying on dresses. I hope in the future, she should have employees. Handling everything by herself must be stressful although she loves her job. The fitting room is quite small and there are no mirrors in them, but that didn't bother me because she is right out when you need her. She may help you with new dresses and you can never say no before you try them on. Almost all of the dresses she's given me, I looked so good in all of them that I couldn't choose one! Another thing that is interesting is that she also does alternations! She altered my dress because there isn't smaller size of the dress I love. It took her just three days to alter the dress since I mentioned that my night is right around the corner. I kept in contact with her and everything went great! Overall, love the location, the dresses, Lula, and my recent purchase! I would work more on customer services. Especially having to have more employees to help her out. read more

Went dress shopping with my girlfriend to get a dress for the military ball. We started by looking in 0 which is what all her dresses are. The lady came up and said "you are not 0 ,your like maybe 2, let me see your waste , oh nevermind your right" so we keep looking and then ask if there is a plain dress section and she shows and and we are looking when the other worker comes up and asked what size. Well tell her zero or 2 and she hugged her at the hip and said "oh no way your like size 4, the section is over there" then walked away. Where do I start, my first visit to Ms.Lula was to order my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. I was sized and measured on that day, back in March. We were informed that the dress will arrive in July. July came and went with no. We were then informed that the dress will arrive in August. Guess what August came and went. The dress arrived after September. I understand shipping, however, that is months of a delay. When I received my dress I was informed I needed it to be altered, she informed me that she will call me after the beginning of October, she stated she had homecoming dress to do .She never called and my friend that is getting married informed the bridesmaid who dress are being altered that dress will be ready by Thursday two days before the wedding. When offical my dress o. while tting ready for the wedding, there was a gap in my around the top of my dress and the back of my dress did not appear to be altered. If i could give 0 stars i would. lula is rude and has no manners when you speak to her. my dress was suppose to be ready the FOURTH and i called the SIXTH and asked if it was ready because i decided to go to another prom that was the 11th. My pick up ticket says the 4th and she said it would be ready the 9th on the phone. Which makes no sense because i didn't notify her that i wouldn't be going to my prom on the fourth. She doesn't order dresses when she says that she will, and she has a very bad attitude. I had to buy a whole new dress for my daughter's debutante ball even though I had already given her $200 on a $300 dress. She gave me several excuses as to why the dress wasn't ready such as: "It's stuck on a boat in China!" After hearing so many excuses, I asked for a refund. I still don't have a refund, and I didn't get the dress because of her ordering it so late. Please check her reviews before using her. read more
