Where do I start? My son (4 at the time) would not interact with us very much, would speak less…read morethan 20 words, and had several violent outbursts when we tried to change any activity or if his iPad would "die". When Big Solutions came into our lives we were hesitant because these were strangers who were going to socialize with our son and as parents we were scared of negative outcomes. Julian's journey began with his initial assessment and eventually to in home therapy. He was assigned 3 therapists including 1 supervisor. They (Ari, Claudia, Joy, & Paulina) are blessings!!! They connected with Julian but also became our teachers! They helped all of us with Julian's needs and how to understand what he was seeking, whether it be physical or emotional. As a parent with a child with autism, sometimes it's too easy to become frustrated and lose hope in any progress they may not meet. An example was my son's eloping. His father and I had no clue how to predict it or manage it. We would all take excursions to our local mall and his therapists were there with us the entire time. We learned to predict when he would run off, and why. He was seeking attention and sometimes just over stimulation so we learned to ask him to use verbal and non verbal cues of where he wants to go. Fast forward to three weeks ago while visiting an outlet shopping center (yes we wore masks) and we practiced all of those steps and he didn't elope! Had it not been for Big Solutions I would not see us going out with much ease as we have been. This is an agency that turned our life around and became part of our family while maintaining their professionalism. Big Solutions ENTIRE staff, from scheduling to in home, were amazing and extremely accommodating. They consistently helped Julian with communicating in various ways and adjusting to unexpected changes that happened every day. Big Solutions also helped us as parents in not give up and letting frustration and fear run our lives. They taught us so much and how to cope with unexpected outbursts and helping our son focus on his school. We were definitely lost in the ASD world and Big Solutions led us to a place where consistency, patience, and goals were good starting points for any situation. Thank you Big Solutions!

UNBELIEVABLE, LIES, LIES AND LIES... SHAME ON YOU…read more.. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY. I started talking to these people early Oct. 2018. I told them I need ABA services for my son ASAP, and asked them if they had enough staff to start soon? They said "yes". BIG FAT LIE!! 1- I kept faxing and emailing the forms they wanted, but they claimed that they didn't receive the documents. It took almost two weeks and after many emails and faxes (which I got "OK" with the correct page numbers each time from the fax machine) for them to say they got the documents. 2- After a couple of weeks I contacted them for updates. They told me that my insurance didn't reply to them!! I called my insurance and I was told NOBODY AND NO AGENCY CONTACTED THEM. THEY LIED TO ME,THEY NEVER CONTACTED MY INSURANCE, and wanted to drag it for a long time. I think they didn't have enough staff to start and just giving excuses. 3- Finally after many calls, the communications started between them and my insurance. BUT AGAIN, A COUPLE OF MORE WEEKS PASSED BY AND STILL NO ANSWER... still waiting.... 4- Finally they sent somebody for the assessment (which by the way, we had many assessments before, but they wanted their own). And again, the lady who came for assessment ( and did NOTHING) wanted another observation and assessment. She came yet for ANOTHER OBSERVATION AND DID NOTHING... NOTHING... ZERO... 5- Another couple of weeks passed and nothing happened. I called again and asked, when they were going to start the program? THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE WAITING A REPLY FROM MY INSURANCE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE THE SAME DAY AND I WAS TOLD (by my insurance), THAT THEY (my insurance), REPLIED TO THEM (center for autism & related services) AND center for autism and related services NEVER REPLIED BACK TO MY INSURANCE. THEY IGNORED THE DEADLINE DATE SET UP BY MY INSURANCE AND IGNORED MY INSURANCE NOTIFICATIONS. THEY LET IT EXPIRE, while I was waiting for the services for my son, and they told me that the insurance didn't respond,WHICH WAS A BIG FAT LIE!! .... SHAME ON YOU... SHAME ON YOU... SHAME ON YOU... On top of all these problems, THEY SENT ME A BILL, FOR DOING NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! .......SHAME ON YOU....

It's unfortunate because they have some really great people working for them and my child did improve, but we are still paying for it, literally and figuratively, when things should have been covered had they done their job. So unless you are 100% sure that all of your services will be completely covered by insurance, I would steer clear, or it will cost you big time.

I don't have to worry about how she is being cared and looked after throughout her day, and all it took was one morning watching Natally do everything in her power to make sure my child "would be happy there". Well, I know why she's done so well, as the BCBA Supervisor, JoAnn, and her team of Behavior Technicians who teach my daughter, are nothing short of STELLAR. JoAnn designs and writes new treatment plans for my child every week, depending on what she needs to learn or keep learning, and tells her team of Technicians what needs to be done every day. My daughter has made deep connections with her teachers (Technicians), who each have gone through rigorous training at CARD: Mario, Luis, Jocelyn, and Mila. They work one-on-one with my daughter during her 8-hour day (she has 40 hours of ABA therapy a week, and no, it's not too much) and, at this point, know how much or little to push her so that she can reach her goals. JoAnn tells me exactly what my child is learning, what she needs to work on, what her goals are, and she comes to our house often to teach me how to help my child maintain what she's learned at the clinic. JoAnn, the other Supervisor at this clinic, Pastora, and ALL OF THE BEHAVIOR TECHNICIANS and administrators (Brooks and Rebecca) at the NoHo location, are the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. They love the kids and young people that they work with, and do everything that they can to help them grow and learn. They see their work as both an art and science, and take it seriously, but most importantly, they care deeply about their clients. This is priceless. As a parent of a child with special needs, I've had to unlearn and learn anew over and over again, and I am grateful to this clinic, for teaching me as I try to understand my daughter's world and how to help her grow. I wish I knew about the origins of ABA therapy when my daughter was first diagnosed, as I would have known about Dr. Lovaas, and then the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, and Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh. I'm also very glad that CARD has such a strong parent support group with their Orientation Team: Shannon, Vincent, Lisa, etc.. If you're a parent(s)/guardian/caretaker in search of a GREAT ABA clinic, well, here it is.

When we arrived I told three people we are new I don't know what group or where to go. They had someone pick up my son and take him to a small room with two other kids his age. The room had no air and my son came out drenched in sweat. I was ushered to a class, which then I found out was the wrong one. I left the class and went to check on my son. There was no activity for the kids to sit and do together. My son was playing in his own. And there was only one toy. So I left him there with no one even speaking to him in a new environment. :( as the people were bringing the kids I kept thinking ok where are the little ones? Where is my son?! I went to check and they were in the front. My son was on his own by the door with no one paying attention. No one came to get me. I didn't know. He could have walked out or anyone could have taken him! I also felt horrible because he was probably like where is my mom. I still feel sick to my stomach. As a parent, it can feel overwhelming trying to find the right support for your child, but the team here has been very welcoming from the beginning. Everyone we've interacted with has been kind and friendly, and they make the environment feel comfortable for both kids and parents. My son's BCBA, Lana, has been amazing. She's very easy to talk to and always takes the time to listen. She gives really helpful feedback and is great at helping us problem-solve when challenges come up. One thing that meant a lot to me was that she came with us to my son's IEP meeting to support us. That level of care and involvement really shows how much she cares about the kids and families she works with. We're very grateful for the support my son has received here and for the team that works with him every day.

If you want to find a company that will be willing…read moreto provide the services by adjusting to your family needs or dynamics, this is the wrong place to look at. They will push their plan on you (so they milk as much as they can from you or your insurance), and if you are someone who wants modifications or additions to the plan, they will just refuse you. In my child's case, I asked for 6-9 hours a week for the first couple of months. At first, they told me that the insurance will not cover such a small amount of hours because that's almost nothing and so that means the child is not that severely in need of ABA. Then, after I called my insurance and clarified this stellar theory to be absolute nonsense, Promise ABA came up with another excuse to add more hours - the therapists will not take the case because they need more hours. Of course, the therapist that they assigned to us confirmed that she was fine with 6-9 hours a week and that it worked perfectly fine with her schedule. At this point we started the services, and after literally two sessions the company called and stated that they have to decline the case because 6-9 hours won't be sufficient to meet the set goals during the initial assessment. Maybe all these elaborated lies work well with other clients who have language barriers or insufficient knowledge about the field, but guys, come on, who are you really fooling around? Clinical goals can be set to be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time, not to mention that they can be adjusted accordingly. To sum up, I got billed for an assessment that is useless because no other company will need since each company wants to do their own assessment when taking a new client (don't worry, Promise ABA, I checked this info before typing it in here, just like I always do). And now, I will have to pay more in order to start services with another (hopefully more reputable, realistic, and client-oriented) company. This could have been less stressful if we had MediCal. However, if you have private insurance like us, stay away from Promise ABA. Save time, money and nerves. You deserve to work with a clinic that respects your child's unique needs because you know your child best. Good luck:)
