Everyday they explore, play, discover, laugh and learn more than ever. The kids are going to school with a smile and coming home even happier. At little Stars, they have beautiful spaces (a community garden where they grow veggies, a beach playground, so many ateliers) and loving teachers. Unfortunately the school had to close for a few weeks because of COVID. They reopened 19 weeks ago, with new safety mesures and since then no one has been sick. Kids even don't realize there is a new protocol. So Mrs Darlene, Mr Louie, the teachers, thank you so much for making the school like normal, with running, hugging, laughing, learning children. We looked at a few options for preschools and after touring the school and meeting the directors we decided to go with Little Stars. I wanted to wait until the end of our time at LSP to write a review of the school and I couldn't be happier to say that this school was such a perfect choice for my son. We were hooked. The operator, Patricia, created a beautiful environment that feels both intimate and aspirational. The staff is immersed in the Reggio Emilia pedagogy, which makes the school feels less "schooled" and not like a daycare where they're just "watching" children. Every space presents an opportunity for learning, engagement and growth. Every teacher engages with your child. There are no "worksheets." The children learn through projects and individual study. We loved the annual camping trips and nature hikes. Over time, the school and families became a safe haven for our family, changing our perspectives of what a school should be. When I arrived for my visit, the director, Sakina, was hoisting a palate of strawberries from her car that she had bought from the farmers market for the kids' snack. From day one, our family felt welcomed and supported by Sakina and her colleagues and the parents at the school. Our daughter is thriving and we see every day how this loving community has contributed to her growth and development. The school has two beautiful classrooms with large glass windows/doors and a serene courtyard. One parent on Yelp commented about uneven pavement and I'm not sure I understand that. The space is perfectly safe (as well as clean and beautiful) for children to run around--I certainly wouldn't have sent my 2-year-old daughter to the school if I had any concerns. The teachers are extremely engaged and loving and I've watched them on a daily basis help kids to learn how to communicate and resolve conflict. Overall, the school is an absolute gem and I am so glad that we became part of this wonderful community.
