Who likes moving? Surely NOT me! It's overwhelming, stressful, and can be traumatic for your beloved animals. My sweet Darcy and Jada (cats) were freaking out. I thought everyone must start somewhere so with a bit of hesitation, I decided to give them a chance. Also, Pavel's price was much more reasonable at $95 per hour. I emailed Pavel several questions along with a change of move date. He was very responsive and accommodating. Well let me tell you, these guys absolutely ROCK! They wrapped all my good furniture up so it didn't get scratched. Got all my stuff out of my old home into the new one in under 4.5 hours! More importantly, they were cautious and good about being sure my baby girls were safe (Darcy and Jada). These 2 guys went way above and beyond! We hired Lumy for a move recently, due to their low price and excellent reviews on Yelp. There is no wonder why they have the reviews they do, as they did an excellent job and really left us feeling satisfied and comfortable with our move. The 2 movers did a wonderful job wrapping all our furniture up safely, as well as taking apart our bed and sofa and reassembling them in our new place. They were even able to move the sofa through out basement window when they didnt fit down the stairwell! In addition, they helped us assemble new furniture we received that had just been delivered to our new home. These guys knew how to do everything! This was the best moving experience we have ever had! Let's be honest- moving is the WORST and during a pandemic was a bit more stressful than normal. LUMY moving made the process so smooth that we weren't concerned at all. They were on time, extremely professional, and beyond efficient. We had 3 movers who worked their butts off from start to finish. They wore masks through the whole process and I'm sure that wasn't easy. I reached out to LUMY via Yelp in mid October to get a quote for a Boston-to-DC move. I was out of state the entire month prior to my move, so I would require full packing and moving services. Pavel responded right away and was able to meet my sister at my apartment the same evening to take a detailed inventory, and turned around a very precise fixed-rate quote that same night. I sought six different estimates and LUMY's rate was not only the best, but the best by a long mile. On the day of the move, Pavel and business partner Max arrived with a third mover, Dima -- on time, even a few minutes early. The three were so pleasant and energetic, and worked quickly and diligently, packing my items with extraordinary care. I have a cabinet with nearly fifty wine glasses -- each was individually wrapped with utmost caution. It took the team less than six hours to pack and load the truck. How they were even able to move some of the large items -- like an executive desk that I assembled in the room it was in -- is beyond me, but they got it out beautifully. They provided a thorough walkthrough at the end of the move to ensure that nothing was left behind and set the expectation of when to meet me the next morning at my new DC home. The following morning, the team was right on time and able to unpack all of my belongings in just a few hours. They were eager to put things in the right rooms and the right parts of the rooms to make unpacking a breeze. During the move, my mother and I were fumbling with large heavy packages that had been mailed to my new building, and these gentlemen insisted on helping lug them to my apartment even though this was in no way expected. My furniture was all carefully wrapped in blankets. Not one single item broke during the move. It seems impossible. My furniture did not incur so much as a scratch or a smudge in the careful hands of LUMY. It bears mentioning: LUMY's prices are unbeatable. They structure it so that you pay a 10% deposit to secure the appointment, then you pay 40% following loading and the remainder after unloading. There were no hidden costs. Move went well but had a mirror that was 250 and they did not say till they arrived that would cost extra 120 to move it up one flight of stairs. After thinking about it I said fine but I'd want them to anchor it to wall which they said no. Very disappointed. Would have gone with different movers had I known this before. I would highly recommend this company! I called them on a Saturday afternoon and by the very next morning, they were available to help me move a large glass cabinet that I had purchased from 25 miles away, and delivered it back to my house. Their website sets them apart from other movers by helping you get as accurate a quote as possible. You basically set up a profile page for your move... almost like a Facebook profile. You can list what furniture you have and post photos of your furniture and narrow doorways so that the guys at LUMY know what they're up against before they even get there. The movers were incredibly hard working. They wrapped up furniture to protect it without me even asking and they disassembled anything that was an issue going down my narrow stairs and then reassembled at my new place. Use these guys, seriously! Not only are they really friendly/personable, but they're super reasonably priced (I called a bunch of places). They packed up & unpacked my things efficiently and quickly, but what really stood out was their total willingness to go above and beyond for me. Long story short, I had a couch that I wasn't sure would fit into my new apartment. After looking at the doors, windows, etc of the new place, they weren't sure either -- but rather than leaving me hanging, they still brought it over to my new place and TRIED to get it in... and ultimately succeeded! -- And if it hadn't fit, they were going to bring it back to my old apartment. This saved me a bunch of my time and money from having to have one of those furniture companies that disassemble your couch come out to me. I have moved MANY times, and I can honestly say this is the smoothest move I've ever had...which is incredible to say given this whole crazy Covid time. This company didn't take a deposit, which is always nice, and sent me several emails leading up to the day of the move to confirm. On the day of, they let me know they were on their way, which is ALWAYS a great feeling that your movers are not leaving you high and dry. They arrived on time and got to work immediately. There were several complexities to this move- I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, but have a deceivingly large amount of things, including some large furniture. These guys fit my entire apartment into a 16' pod, which would have NEVER happened if these guys weren't masterful at packing. They literally fit all my boxes and furniture like a jigsaw puzzle, and took great care in making sure all the furniture was wrapped well and tied down. I did not hear one cringe-inducing "clunk" or "bang" of furniture hitting walls or the floor, as I'm sure many of us are familiar with when working with amateur movers. They worked carefully more than quickly, which was fine by me. Also FYI: there is a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card, which I didn't know (perhaps this was on the website or in a correspondence). I honestly didn't care because I was so relieved to have movers that knew what they were doing. I would definitely recommend this company. read more
