From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and genuinely welcoming -- the kind of place where you instantly know you're about to have a great experience. We ordered the seared halibut and the wild acres duck breast, and honestly... I'm still thinking about them. The halibut was perfectly cooked -- tender, delicate, and packed with flavor. The duck was incredible -- rich, balanced, and executed with precision. Every bite felt intentional. And the service? Just as impressive. What a lovely surprise to find Luna. Visiting from out of state and was looking for a unique experience and this was it. Everything was delicious, pop overs, panzanella salad, black garlic potatoes, salmon, and the duck. We splurged and got all three desserts as we couldn't decide and they were excellent. I've been fortunate to travel and go to some really great restaurants. Stand outs have been in Italy, Paris, best Indian ever was in Ireland, the most beautiful in Vienna, freshest and amazing Ohuahu. My favorites though are the surprises. Hole in the wall places where abeulitas are making the best molé ever with 37 ingredients, Pho with the perfect balance of fish sauce, lime and ginger without too much salt... You get it. When my daughter described this restaurant and cheese shop... formerly a bread and coffee shop, I thought it probably would be good but I was WoWeD. Now I've been there 4-5 times, mostly for dinner with family but also with a friends for lunch. Have always been pleased and proud of and for Fargo. The food has always been good and often exquisite! We usually start with their delicious mocktails and appetizers for the table. Yes, the popovers are wonderful as is the cheeseboard. The menu changes fairly often with some mainstays. The guys in our family often go for the Wagyu steak. Duck and various pasta dishes have also been favorites. I think there's always been a vegetarian option too. I've loved several. My sister and I went there yesterday. She had the squash lasagna and I had the Wagyu burger. My sister gave me a taste of the lasagna and it was an epiphany. The first few bites were an absolute delicious. The Wagyu burger was OK, but I wouldn't order it again. The portion size was just right for me, but some people may say it's on the small side. I would recommend that you give this place a try. They have a nice selection of cheeses. You can buy by the front entrance. Highly recommend the rogue smoked blue cheese. read more

Perfectly cooked pork tucked into savory apple butter and served with a layered potato cake and a delicate slaw. Service is simple and efficient and the dining room is cozy. Listen: Luna usually produces an excellent meal. I expect a lot out of them. When my wife and I brought my mother there to celebrate her birthday we were very disappointed. My mom was able to enjoy her meal, and I'm grateful for that but my wife and I ordered the chicken, hence the low score above. The chicken was dreadfully overcooked. It had been cooked so hard that the meat had lost all texture and was dried out and had lost any flavor. Dried out mush? Yes that's what they served us. Dessert was good but unremarkable. When we go to Luna we expect five stars or maybe four on an off day not inedible entrees. We will return but will expect a much better meal next time read more

Our night at Luna was one of those rare occasions where you thoroughly enjoy every single thing you try. Well, I wasn't inclined to the beet salad because I knew I didn't like beets before and gave it a whirl anyways, but the rest of my party demolished it quite quickly. So besides that- it was all a hit. This is definitely more of a fancy restaurant than I realized looking at it from the outside. I think they prefer you make a reservation, but we didn't and with 4 of us were still able to be seated almost right away mid dinner rush. If you aren't into trying some unique flavor combinations, then Luna probably isn't for you. They definitely have a more advanced culinary chef who knows how to work with interesting flavor profiles, and I'm totally willing to branch out. I got a duck dish, and it was marvelous. The surf and turf was the dish I'd get if I went again, but wow every single thing I tried was good. You know the food is good when each person at your table tries a bite of everyone else's dishes- we all shared with each other because we all NEEDED to experience the taste bud sensations. Oh, and if you do go here, please pop in the first bathroom to check out the gnarly dog "painting" that's in there... trust me, you'll get a good laugh. read more

Oh my, it always helps being with locals!! This place is neighborhood, right next to an iconic liquor store. Healthy very different choices that were excellent. The only downside was that we were so full from our selections that I didn't have room for the rhubarb crisp! read more

We were looking for a unique and tasty dining experience while visiting family in Fargo. Looking at the menu online, Luna seemed to check all the boxes but we left pretty underwhelmed. Popovers were good, octopus was tinned with bread and crackers (which should have been better described on the menu). Salmon was a bit overcooked and the duck was a little tough (although the flavor was good). Service left a lot to be desired: she ignored us for long stretches, forgot to put in some of our order, and just didn't seem very into it. Cheese was great tho. Maybe it was just an off night? Honestly I haven't been this blown away in a long time. Can we give more than 5 stars? I had heard good things from others, but was surprised when I saw what looked like a small cafe in a strip mall. Never judge a book by its cover they say...and not that I was judging ...but my expectations were different. We made a reservation & were seated promptly. I got a mocktail which was $5. It was called the garden wagon. It was really yummy & definitely worth the $5. The three of us decided to share 2 apps and a side. We got the Roasted Beets, pickle plate, and the chive and cheddar popovers. Everything was so good! So good! I mean it. My favorite was the roasted beets. I grabbed the wild acres chicken for my meal which was made with wild mushrooms, corn, shishitos, pickled jalapenos, & cotija. The mushrooms were so uniquely cooked. The chicken was juicy and fell off the bone, and all the flavors were so great together. It was an adventure for your mouth! When asked for dessert we all decided to get our own sideof the roasted beets. Seriously, that's how good they were. We were like banana cream pie or beets? Beets it is. I'm sure the dessert was amazing too, but I could leave Fargo without having as many as these beets as possible. Our server was 10/10 and so kind and helpful! I want to say that when we come back to Fargo we will adventure more restaurants, but honestly I'm already planning to come right back to Luna!the prices and portions are extremely fair. read more

I've been going to Luna every year when I visit family in my hometown (Moorhead). I've lived in many major cities across the country and look forward to going to Luna where I know the food is on par if not better than some of my favorite "big city" restaurants. We always order the popovers and enjoy trying new items on the seasonal menus. This time I tried the roasted beet salad (delicious) and the rhubarb tart (topped with their rhubarb sorbet -- amazing). I went to Luna for lunch and was quite impressed by the food, service, and presentation. The Korean Pork Groat soup was tasty, but the real star was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. It was fantastic. The breading was crispy and light, and the pairing of manchego cheese with lemon sweet and sour sauce was excellent. Definitely recommend coming here. We had a delicious meal and a wonderful server (Katie). I had the bison strip steak and my dining companion had the halibut. Both were outstanding in flavor, quality of ingredients, and presentation. I had a glass of the house red, which was a generous pour and very modestly priced - and most importantly, tasty. The only thing missing from the meal was the offer for some fresh ground pepper. Having never been here, we opted for the dinner service. Vibe is more casual than expected, and that translated into a more relaxed feeling. Service was friendly, no complaints there. I got the NY Strip, which comes as a 5oz cut, and opted for rare. The steak was very flavorful and the seared edges made for welcomed crunchy bites. Being that I'm not generally a fan of Brussels sprouts for sake of them being mushy much of the time, I was glad to find that these were crunchy and flavorful. The dessert was wonderful as well, and a take-home cheese tray at the end was also a great addition. I want to like this place but I can't. We went on date night and they brought the wrong soups, which would be fine except that took about 25 minutes. So by the time we got the right soup, our entrees arrived. I ordered a steak medium rare but it was raw to the edge. I asked if it could be medium rare and they brought it back, burnt the edges, and brought it back still rare but now the crust just scraped my throat. The entrees don't have sides so it was basically an $80 dollar meal of a cup of soup. It was generally lazy cooking and I am just super bummed about that. read more
