I was told to head to the back for the "dos and don'ts" of snorkeling, but when I found the staff member, he just said, "yeah, you snorkel on the other side of the bay," and pointed behind him. No safety rundown, no directions, nothing. I ended up going back inside, and thankfully another staff member stepped in and got me set up properly. Once I was out in the water, though, it was beautiful -- calm, clear, and full of marine life. Overall, a great experience with just a small bump in the beginning. I'd definitely return.

They ask that you arrive about 15 minutes early, and when we got there, most of the staff greeted us inside the storefront before directing us out back to the kayaking area. For belongings, they give you two options: you can pay $5 for a locker with a key, or you can leave your things in the storage bins out back where someone is always present. I wasn't completely comfortable with the bins, but the staff reassured me that nothing had ever happened to guests' belongings. I decided to take the chance, left my bag there with cash inside, and thankfully, everything was safe and untouched when we returned. Our instructor was Kyler and he was amazing. He was patient, informative, and honestly did most of the work steering our kayak since my daughter kept getting frustrated and turning us in the wrong direction. Kyler shared a lot of history about the Condado Lagoon, pointing out landmarks, statues, and explaining the local marine life--what's there, what isn't, and why motorboats aren't allowed. The way back was more challenging because of the wind, so this time it was up to us to paddle. I ended up doing most of it (patting myself on the back here), and by the time we finished, I was completely soaked from the back--no idea how that happened, but it was all part of the adventure. We wrapped up after about an hour, grabbed our belongings, and everything was still there. Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience for both my daughter and I.

The Can-Am experience was absolutely amazing -- 10/10 and one of the highlights of our trip! Gabriela was our tour guide and she had such a vibrant, fun personality. The tour was about 2 hours long and she took us all throughout Viejo San Juan with tons of photo opportunities along the way. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history and the area, and it was such a great way to experience Old San Juan without having to walk everywhere in the heat. We truly got to see and experience so much. Felix and Gabriela were both amazing and made the experience memorable for us. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience the jet ski portion. We had reserved it the day before, but while we were having a beach day my husband had opened his first beer as we approached the jet ski tent, so they would not allow him to drive. We asked if waiting a few hours would make it okay, but it was a definite no. While we completely understand and respect the safety policy and why it exists, I do think a larger or clearer sign ahead of time would be helpful for guests to know there is absolutely no drinking beforehand. Since it was literally his first beer and the staff heard it open as we walked up, I do feel the jet ski team could have been a little more willing to work with us and a bit friendlier in their approach. Jet skiing in Puerto Rico is supposed to be a blast, but I can't say that doing it with this…read morecompany was a great experience. Parking and getting to the place were pretty easy. As we walked up to the tent, we met our guide who silently gave us our vests and wasn't friendly at all. He walked us through the jet ski operation. after which we went to the sea. First off, the equipment was very dated. Broken buttons, cracked seats, some unrepaired damage. Those jet skis had seen better days. Secondly, I was under impression that we would be riding on our own (which is how it was in most resort towns I've been to), but we were told to follow the guide and stay in one line as a group all the time. What was supposed to be a fun time, turned into a 25mph convoy where any attempt to move off the line was met with the guide yelling at you. It's like coming to Universal Studios to ride VelociCoaster and being put on a merry-go-round instead. Can't say it was worth $150+ for the hour.

I recommend wearing water shoes as you'll have to walk through thigh deep water to get to the kayak. You want to plan your trip as close to a new moon as possible as you want to eliminate as much light as possible to really see the glow. Annoyingly there is a neighborhood above the lagoon with bright spotlights but facing the water way and lingering near the other side of the lagoon the bioluminescence is still very visible and a total blast. The guides even brought us a tiny jellyfish to observe and see how it glowed as it wiggled in our hands. I wouldn't even bother bringing your phone, I highly doubt you'd be able to capture the glow while holding still enough in a kayak. Navigating the mangroves was tricky because the guides blue lights were just bright enough the destroy our night vision and not see the low hanging branches. I would hope in the future that the guides would switch to red lights to make navigating in the low light easier.
