I finally had a chance to check out Lush Fine Wines & Provisions during Hanford's Thursday Night Market. The downtown area was pretty busy, and the place was packed, but I was still able to find a seat inside. While I was there, I ordered a glass of white wine, which was really good, and the marinated olives, which were delicious! The people working there were very friendly and helpful, which always makes for a better experience. I think what I like most about this place is the atmosphere. It's cute, and a nice spot to sit outside, and do a little people watching while enjoying the downtown vibe. It's not a place that completely blows me away, but it's definitely somewhere I'd come back to. This is a great spot to meet up with friends or coworkers after work, have a drink or two, and just hang out. They don't only serve wine they also have beer, so there's a little something for everyone. Overall, it's a nice place. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area. read more

RUDE! The blonde woman working on Friday 4/17 at 5:30 pm was absolutely atrocious and rude. I have been there numerous times with my son. We are always told to sit outside which is totally understandable. But tonight she had some vendetta to be as rude and terse as possible. I can understand why places like that have a hard time staying open with service like that. Hope that management has a convo with her on her bedside manner. Met up with friends on Thursday night for night out, the wine is just ok a bit pricey , the furniture needs replacement very uncomfortable worn out padding. The place could benefit from seating arrangements wasted seating towards the very back. The young blonde girl working the bar is very lazy and not helpful at all. This place is cute, but the bartenders are extremely rude and have zero people skills. they seem to have their favorite and if you're not one of them, guess they don't really care for you. The rolling of the eyes was extremely rude by the dark-haired Bartender and the Blonde was only paying attention to her friends on the outside patio. Enjoyable evening back in my hometown after searching for some live music lounging. Seating and drink selections are limited but service and atmosphere are great. Right in DT Hanford, it's an easy place to walk to after dinner or rideshare easily to/from. Not knowing the musician to play, he turned out to be quite talented with an excellent raspy voice and he enjoyed taking requests. Apparent that this is a local go-to spot for ladies night out. My wife really enjoyed as it's unique for small town Hanford which could use more places like this. Will return some day. read more

There isn't enough seating while there are a bunch of wine racks taking up space. There is also limited access for restrooms. There used to be separate restrooms for men and women. Now there is one single restroom for both. I do not recommend this place. read more

This place is really under the radar. We went there to celebrate a few milestones within the friend group and we were surprised that their wine selection was pretty vast. The interior is cozy and relaxing but the outdoor area is pretty nice too. We were able to order food from another vendor and the wine bar didn't have an issue with outside food in their premises. read more

I have been going to this wonderful establishment for years! They have great service and enjoy talking to people! love it!

I came here with two of my friends because I recently moved to Hanford and I wanted to show them around town. I always passed by this place so I thought it'd be a good place to start. You wouldn't believe how embarrassed I was to have brought them here! We went up to the bar and the women attending were outright ignoring me waiting at the bar and only acknowledged me when their friends headed out and offered us their seats and even then it took them a millennium to pretend we weren't invisible. I'm sure they're good people outside of it all. But I just know I don't want to feel the way they made me feel ever again so I won't be going back unfortunately. Went for wine on a Friday night. Nice atmosphere. We got a bottle and when we got our bill it was over $6 from the price on the menu. She told us that's the real price. She promised? When you serve so many examples of low-quality wines, you deserve to have your license revoked. There are a few bright spots on the shelves, but mostly it's an assortment of sappy, syrupy, booze-like substances masquerading as real wine. They pour several red & white wines by the glass; but I've seen better wines poured in a college dormitory. And why are there no small production (local mom & pop) wineries anywhere in this place? You're surrounded by countless acres of old vines! What the hell do you think those vines grow?! But this sad story can be quickly fixed by pouring a much higher caliber of Local & international wines and raising the standard food options, but I get the feeling it's not going to happen in here. And the beer selections are below average too; there's just too much hoppy swill and no European styles with the singular exception of Stella Artois - and that's not too impressive. Actually, based on the wine selection alone, this place deserves a 1-star rating. But I know it's very difficult to succeed in the beer / wine business so I'm throwing in the extra star just for trying to bring a wine bar into a Podunk town. But good intentions are never enough; high quality needs to be the focus of any business plan or you will just dry up and blow away. Good luck! read more

My fianceé and I got on the Amtrak in Bakersfield and rode it north one Thursday afternoon because we didn't know what else to do with ourselves. We wound up in Hanford and like everyone else we went to the ice cream place. After eating 9 pounds of ice cream apiece, we decided we needed to get drunk before our return trip home. We waddled over to Lush and found the classiest bar downtown, that had really good beer and exceptionally good prices. The bartender was friendly and the crowd was chill. We thought about going to the Sequoia Club, or Huggy's. In fact we checked them both out before settling here, but they both smelled bad and the crowd was downright geriatric. This place has a great selection of beer and you pay less here for good beer than you would for a Coors Light at Chili's. A+++. 10/10. Would bang again. read more

I LOVE this place! My family & I just moved back to Hanford and we were so sad to leave La La Land. Especially because we just feel like there isn't a lot to do here in general, and the night life is pretty much dead in this small town. But this place is a good time! Justine is super nice and is a great bartender, and she makes good suggestions based on your palate. Also, I've met some cool people there each time I've gone in. I've tried a few different wines, but I can only remember one of them which was called 'Jeremy Zin'... which they didn't have the last time I went in. Their cracker/cheese/salami plate is delicious! Wow! Such potential and then such disappointment. Came here with friends for a girls night. The website and google says they close at 9:00 yet we were literally kicked out at 8:50. At "last call" around 8:15 we ordered a bottle of wine and even clarified closing time. Then, the waitress without warning told us we had to leave because they don't close at 9:00; "they close when we want to". We all still had wine in our glasses and when asked if we could stay till 9:00 to finish she told us "no...I don't care if you chug it or leave it, but you have to leave". TERRIBLE SERVICE! I had high hopes because of the location and what appeared to be a cute patio and lights while passing by but it was really just okay. The seating area inside and outside is a joke. I couldn't agree more with the previous review... this place would be perfectly pleasant in any other city but in Hanford it is a marvel. I didn't check out the retail area, but the wine bar was comfortable and has a nice view out over the park and the courthouse. The selection of wines by the glass wasn't huge, but I had a tasty Riesling and my mom tried a red blend that turned out to be very good. J had the Lush Pale Ale, which he enjoyed. My only concern with this place is that it was totally empty when we arrived and I don't want it to disappear. We talked a little with Jack, the father of one of the owners, and he assured us that business has been pretty good. I hope so, I plan to spend some time here every time I find myself in Hanford and want to escape the cow fart stench. read more

I'm gonna agree with the previous reviews; a wine bar in Hanford is a pleasant surprise, if not an utter shocker. It's pretty cozy - I went in this week to buy a bottle of wine & I noticed the occupancy is 18! Although it's a wine bar, they also sell lots of wine. I've come in, told the ladies I would like, say, a pinot, I want to spend this much money, & voila! I'm in & out. They are very helpful (I was pleased with their choices), & not at all pretentious (neither is the atmosphere). There's a lot more wine than I would have expected in the small place, to be honest. The bar area seats a measly amount of people; I have been here when it's bare & when it's not so bare, but never for Thursday night market or wine & chocolate nights (a main street hanford event which they participate in) but i can imagine. This aint the Sequoia Club (not that's there's anything wrong w/ karaoke, holla!); there are business peep types, younger cool kid types; heck, your mom & her girlfriends might hang here out for a drink, but you could definitely take a date here & not be embarrassed. The decor is cool & relaxing. I love the large windows & the view; it's also in a historic building that creaks with every step you take. It's great. Love that about downtown Hanford. The food choices bite (pun intended); they have cheese plates as mentioned, & i've had something else besides cheese, like some kind of meat, but i cant remember. No matter, the food choices are minimum at best & you have been warned (eat before you come in... unless you want to get your buzz on fast & cheaply). They offer some beer choices too. The hours also are confusing to me; I think they do close early if business is slow, but who knows. I do recommend giving them a try even though their hours make it tough. Wine bar + Hanford is an odd combo, but that was part of the appeal of trying it out during a visit to my hometown. It's cozy in there. We were lucky enough to grab an empty couch. We shared a bottle of moscato d'asti and felt unusually cultured. It was noisy in there, but not bad--sports bars are far worse in that regard. By far the best wine bar in our area, great atmosphere especially for Hanford. The owner is very nice and helpful if you're new to drinking wine and all the employees are great too. I always feel taken care of when I go there. The pricing is good, typical wine and specialty beer prices. We normally love coming to Lush to have some wine and maybe a cheese plate. But super disappointed in this place for New Years, according to their online profiles they would be open through midnight. But upon entering prior to 9pm was told they were going to do last call, even though there were patrons present. Bartender felt that her personal needs were above multiple customer's. I love this little wine bar. My husband and I have met friends here for drinks. The girl and guy that have served us in the past are super friendly and pleasant. I wasn't a big wine drinker so the they offered me a glass of Bellini (sp?). It was fruity and tasty. The only suggestion I have is that it would be even better if they offered appetizers. Lush is a great place for meeting friends, meeting new people, great wine and beer that's more than domestic. The atmosphere is relaxing and it is a great place to un-wind after a tough day. Lindsey is so knowledgable about her products and is very helpful when I am trying to find a wine for a special occasion. Love this place and use to come all the time! I was just in there last night and WOW its changed at least staff wise. One lady was showing off her stomach (i did not need to see) and was talking with what Im guessing where her friends the whole time never asking me if I needed anything. The other lady was nice but seemed a little uneducated on the wines. Overall, Lush is one of the nicer drinking establishments in Hanford. Offering a nice selection of wine from around California and the world, the operation of the bar is unique. Instead of ordering a bottle from the bar, you actually purchase it from the "store" side and then they'll open it for you at the bar. One of the big downsides of Lush is the severe lack of seating. With only a couple of actual tables to sit at, and limited seating at the bar, it gets very cramped, very quick. There is also a lack of food options. While a full menu would be entirely overkill, something more than a small cheese plate would do much to improve on the business. Lush also closes entirely too early, which is a shame for a town needing a better, higher-class night life. All that said, the selection is excellent, to include some finer wines such as Cakebread and Justin's Isosceles. Overall, Lush is worth visiting, just get there earlier rather than later to snag a seat. read more

Me and my two friends were very excited to go wine tasting since Hanford didn't have anything like this before. We made sure to call to see what hour they closed and they said 8. We got there around 7 and the closed sign was up and we saw people are the bar drinking and the bar tender didn't even acknowledge us to say why they closed early. I agree with all of the reviews before me. What a great addition to Hanford!! It makes visiting my family a bit more fun! The atmosphere is sophisticated and warm. The wines selection in the wine shop is quite good. The wines by the glass are a bit limited but still good. The one thing I would love to see improve would be the food. The cheese plate is elementary, I would like to see a more artisanal cheeses. I don't consider cubed pepper jack and cheddar to be a good paring with a good wine. Get there early on Farmer's Market Nights, it can get quite busy! read more
