Two years ago we had a really fun getaway here. So we decided to do it again. We're sorry we did…read more We booked a river balcony room two hours before we arrived and he gave us one without a balcony. We asked for the balcony room and he said they were sold out. So we went online and booked another balcony room and gave him our confirmation number. Surprise! There was a balcony room that housekeeping was almost done readying. But he said we couldn't cancel the first room. We took the balcony anyway. Muka checked us in. She's wonderful. Drove to a great restaurant on the river. Then to an outdoor free concert across from the hotel. Sat on the balcony with some wine. Lovely! Until we tried the TV. It wouldn't work. Tried the room's phone to call about the TV. It wouldn't work. Called from my cell. Maintenance was busy but would help soon. An hour later I walked to the front desk. They forgot. Radioed maintenance. Skyler came to help. He is wonderful. The guy at the front desk was supposed to tell us that the TV had just been installed and wasn't programmed yet nor connected to wifi. It arrived hard coded not to work until connected to the hotel system by installed by an engineer. Ugh!! Later I tried to change the room temperature, and that seemed locked down too. Went online. No more rooms. Front desk: No more rooms. Holiday weekend with fireworks, sold out. And they had given away our no-balcony room with the TV that works. We live an hour away. But really couldn't just throw up our hands and go home after the wine. The room is super clean and the bedding is divine. The common areas are like being at an upscale resort. There is a very friendly and upbeat staff, so management has created an excellent culture. This wasn't a Marriott before. So maybe the transition has some challenges. We loved this place the last time, and we love Marriott BonVoy. We don't love it this time. I hope they figure things out. By the way, I sent this to a manager in reply to their email that asked about my stay. And I posted it on the BonVoy web site. But after a couple of weeks I have heard back. The manager has been replying to other reviews, but not to ours. Too embarrassed, I guess? Still, we expected more.

If it's not the incredible service from staff it's the cleanliness of the facilities. This time I visited for my birthday weekend with my family we arrived to our hotel room we were experiencing some technical issues with our television our wonderful staff member Muka helped us remediate the issue within seconds. She escorted us to our new room which was immaculately clean in the residence. She explained everything based on the house layout the house was amazing with a beautiful view I highly suggest if you don't stay in one of the Waterview rooms I suggest one of the beautiful houses that adorn the property the view in the winter is gorgeous I can only imagine the summer I'm truly shocked by the reviews I have to say although we didn't try the restaurant and decided to explore around town this establishment is in a beautiful location not far from Port Huron the rooms are handicap accessible it's beautiful I have to say I highly recommend checking this out it's a great wedding venue as well there's parking on the street as well as in the parking lot and it has some great historical sites. Thank you so much to the staff especially MUKA for making my birthday weekend absolutely incredible I really appreciate it. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Very nice newer hotel. The room set up was extraordinary (i.e. great bathroom lighting for makeup,…read moreplace to hang hand towels, bathroom fan, built in luggage stands, hooks for hanging up clothes, comfortable mattress, plush towels, easy to use thermostat, great TV with Direct TV and a remote that works). I told my husband this was by far one of the top hotels we have visited for years. Desk people where very friendly. The breakfast was great, as was the breakfast lady. One complaint was the outside of the tub and the corners of the bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Free baked cookies like Country Inn and Suites offer would be nice to include as an added perk.

(We travel often so we carry disinfectant wipes to clean airplane seats & hotel rooms ourselves,…read moreeven at 5-Star accommodations) This is a disheartening review, and one that is truly disappointing to write. One-star review is generous. I am an IHG member (many years) and have stayed at quite a few Holiday Inns and Suites and quite a few Holiday Inn Vacations in North America. We have never been disgusted and disappointed until this location in Port Huron, MI. (In fact, we were returning guests from a few years ago. We stayed in their 2-room King Suite & it was clean, relaxing & pleasant) I booked a reservation via Expedia.com (our plan for the weekend was bargain hunting during the "Longest Yard Sale" of the USA) 1st Red Flag: When we arrived, a guest in front of me (at the front desk) was voicing concern that her reservation wasn't correct (she booked adjoining rooms but they gave her two rooms across from each other instead) 2nd Red Flag: I reserved a 2-room king suite but was given keys to a 1-room king standard instead. 3rd Red Flag: We were stuck with the king standard (for 3 guests) because the hotel was sold out. 4th Red Flag and a major red flag: Mold was in the shower. Again, hotel was sold-out and we couldn't be moved to a different room. Other Red Flags: * Pool and pool floor was dirty * Pool water temperature was hot * Water fountains were dirty * Hotel couldn't provide extra towels * 24-hour coffee machines (in lobby) weren't available after 3pm (Coffee machine was not in our room) Holiday Inn blamed Expedia for false advertising of their rooms and Expedia blamed Holiday Inn for sending the wrong information regarding their rooms. Employees of Expedia and Holiday Inn were professional and sympathetic but reasonable and immediate solutions were not in our favor. Holiday Inn Express & Suites-Port Huron is operated by the Amerilodge Group. I am still waiting for a phone call and an email. At the time of this post, Amerilodge hasn't responded to Expedia either. We couldn't enjoy our weekend because of the filthy accommodations. We did look into other places to stay but those were sold out as well. So, we sadly returned home.

I travel with my pup everywhere. I never care about any pup fee. But paying the 75 dollar fee…read morethis time meant I was downgraded to basically a human kennel. Under the guise of I will be closer to the dog walk area, I was placed on the first floor next to the back door. Not an issue, until I walked into the room. No real carpet, just and inside/outside floor covering. No padding, just glued directly to the concrete. The furniture was out of a garage sale, beat up and unkept. Sheet on the bed were old and worn. So old the elastic on the fitted sheet no longer gripped the matress. I never leave a bad review. I there is nothing nice to say i leave it alone. But the manager on duty continually lied on the idea I was put into a dog room. Said there was no such thing. I asked why no carpet, she replied that there must of been a maintenence issue that was unresolved. I told her I checked the room next to me during cleaning and it was the same. A dog room. Just outside my room there was carpet with padding, but not in mine. I paid for a king bed, was given a queen. I guess that is what dog rooms get. Now there was an area for my pup to do her business, but no grass, all lava rock. I invited the manager to walk on it barefooted, because my pup was. It is jagged and unsafe for pets. While this facility is pet friendly, be prepared to stay in a dog room. Not the room you reserved online. felt like i was punished for bringing my pup, and paid for that punishment.

One Star - Veterans Beware: Harassed, Humiliated, and Evicted Without Cause…read more If I could leave zero stars, I would. My experience at the Baymont Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Port Huron, Michigan, was not just disappointing--it was traumatizing, unjust, and downright dangerous. On Friday, April 18, 2025, I checked in after a long flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Detroit. I'm a service-connected disabled veteran currently traveling America's Great Loop, and I trusted this hotel to provide a safe, secure, and lawful place to rest with my belongings and my pet. Instead, I was met with harassment, false accusations, and an outright violation of my rights and dignity. Despite a Do Not Disturb sign clearly on my door, I was woken up around 10 a.m. Saturday morning by a loud knock, with hotel staff claiming to be investigating a smell of smoke. I welcomed them into my room. They quickly concluded the odor wasn't coming from me, and I returned to my much-needed rest. Hours later, around 4:45 p.m., I was again jolted awake--this time by an aggressive knock. A tall man forced his foot in the door, accusing me of smoking in the room. Let me be crystal clear: I had not smoked anything in that room. I had legally obtained medical marijuana in my possession, prescribed for PTSD and chronic pain, but I only consumed it outside, in accordance with hotel rules and Michigan state law. I told him as much. That should've been the end of it. Instead, the situation escalated disturbingly. I began recording the interaction as I was essentially told to leave the premises, despite no violation of law, policy, or disturbance. I had already spent all my money to get there, and had no other place to go--this room was supposed to be my safe haven until my next paycheck. Yet I was treated like a criminal. Three Michigan State Troopers arrived. I had called them hoping they would advocate for me, a disabled veteran being harassed and wrongfully evicted. Instead, they surrounded me, took my ID, and sided with the hotel, completely ignoring the absence of any legal or contractual violation. Their message was clear: get out, or else. I was thrown out into the cold--43 degrees, damp, pneumonia weather--with no transportation, nowhere to go, and my trust in both law enforcement and corporate hospitality completely shattered. I had to depend on a friend to pick me up and drive me around for hours just to find a new place to stay. The emotional toll of this experience is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. The management at this hotel operates with Gestapo-like tactics--invasive, heartless, and shamefully ignorant of veterans' rights, human decency, or simple hospitality. They violated the contract, humiliated a disabled veteran, and took no accountability. Do not stay here. If you are a veteran, a medical patient, or simply someone who values your right to privacy and respect--run far away from this place.

This is the third time I have stayed here in town and have been pleasantly surprised every time…read more We stay here as it's the only pet friendly hotel in the area. Rooms have always been clean and spacious. We get the hot tub suite for extra fun. Showers are great! They have a pool and fitness room. The only mark is the continental breakfast is subpar. Staff has always been very nice and accommodating.
