My husband loves getting "beat up by the black belts." Lute also has a "women's only" class on Saturdays.

Adam is motivating and dedicated. He keeps our programs fresh and he's accommodating on scheduling. Even on days we don't train he'll give me pointers, offers to spot, and give corrections to make sure I stay on track. WESTCA is a great place to train. They have everything you'll need and niche things you never knew existed. And regardless of the trainer you work with, you're in good hands.

And here's yet another five-star review for WESTCA…read more Like a lot of people, I spend far too much time sitting behind a computer. After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.

Wow! I should have read the reviews first about this place, but the reviews make sense. If I could…read moregive a zero I would. I joined City Sports Club on Brokaw because I was genuinely excited to get back into shape. Unfortunately, what should have been a positive experience quickly became frustrating, discouraging, and emotionally exhausting, thanks to Sam, Richard and Mari. From the beginning, nearly every interaction felt like a sales pitch. I signed up for a gym membership, the Pilates add-on, and personal training because I wanted professional guidance and support. During my training consultation, Richard, the Director of Training, promised nutritional guidance, including calories and macros, a workout plan for the days I was not meeting with a trainer, measurements, and an assessment. When I arrived for my first training appointment, Richard appeared unaware of why I was there. My trainer then asked me many of the same questions I had already discussed with him, which made it seem like there had been little communication. The workout lasted approximately 25 minutes, which had not been explained when I signed up. When I asked about the nutrition and workout plans I had been promised, I was told that the trainer did not know me or my form well enough to provide them and that I should do any exercises I already knew. This was incredibly discouraging because I had specifically signed up for personal training because I needed guidance. I left feeling deflated and devalued as a member. When I raised my concerns, I received conflicting explanations, little accountability, and repeated promises that someone would follow up. I had to explain the same emotional experience to multiple employees (a total of 5 times), yet calls were repeatedly not returned. The most disappointing response came when I was told that they "usually do not issue refunds because of an experience." This was not simply a change of mind. I joined with every intention of using the gym, but the services and guidance used to sell me personal training were not provided as represented. After the poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and dismissive handling of my concerns, I no longer felt comfortable returning. The only person who made me feel genuinely heard was Rod. He listened, apologized, and showed empathy when no one else had. I truly appreciated his kindness. I joined because I was motivated and excited to prioritize my health. Instead, I spent my first two weeks dealing with sales pitches, contradictory information, poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and repeatedly chasing people for answers. I am still waiting for a resolution and the full refund I requested. I am posting this in hopes of a resolution, as it seems every attempt I have already made comes with repeated excuses and promises of follow-ups that never occur. I am the one who has to do the follow-up. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking City Sports Club to acknowledge how poorly this situation was handled, honor the full refund I requested, and allow me to move forward without continuing to chase employees for answers.

When I tried booking it through the app, I selected it on the drop menu, but for some reason it didn't put it for me. I did pay a reduced fee, but I would think that it would know that it was my first time and automatically sign me up for it. When I got there, the instructor told me I had to pay for the socks, but I could email the manager to see if I could get a reimbursement. So the class and socks ended up costing me 40 bucks (18 for socks). For some reason the label said $14, but I was charged 18. Not sure why. First impressions - The instructor seemed nice, but the intro was literally 5 minutes long and then you were on your own. When I started at orange theory, the coach constantly checked in on me to see if I was okay and that made me feel better about starting a new workout. Honestly, I felt like a fish out of water. I had to keep looking at the other girls next to me to see what to do because the instructor was throwing out instructions and unfamiliar terms to me at the speed of light. Also, I could tell the handle bar slack was uneven, but after my friend mentioned that hers was too to the instructor, she said "oh" and that was it so I didn't speak up either. The workout - Man, this burns so good. I thought I would be prepared for it with a year of Orange Theory under my belt, but my body was not ready for it. I can see why it's such a good workout. My legs were still shaking 30 minutes after. I would be up for another class in the future. Just need more exposure to the terminology. Overall it was a great workout. Maybe not the best for someone that is completely new to it, but you got to start somewhere.

This review is about the GYM overall. 1. The operating hours…read moreare very limited. 10pm is way too early to close for someone, especially those who work 2nd shift. 2. Workout machines and equipment are offset. Treadmills are way too many. A few more workout machines would be nice. 3. Everybody pays the same price, on the same day, but not everybody comes to spend a whole day to use all the features. 4. IMO to compare with Citisport about cleanliness: CTS 9/10 - VLS 10/10, equipment: CTS 10/10 - VLS 8/10. Price 5x time difference. Imagine paying $175/month ($6/day) seem not too much for an individual to breakdown and think about, slowly more people will sign up mainly for working out purposes than other relaxing activities, the GYM sooner or later will be busy. I've visited Villasport and Citisport in both the same hours during different times of the day, and the crowds are not much different. But for the price it is. Paying $175 monthly and must wait for machines to break the workout momentum is pretty sad and upsetting, innit? Then 10pm its already closed... weekends are 2pm... Overall I'd personally think $75/month is fair. For $175/month, hours should be extended, and equipment should be more balanced. The way I see this fitness is built was to target older wealthy people 45+ years old. However, as I come here I see more of the younger ones than the older ones.

However, I am not a big fan of some of the gym machines as some aren't very comfortable to use. For example, the excess amount of Hoist machines could possibly be replaced by other machines from other companies. In other gyms I have visited, the other machines from companies like Life Fitness have been a favorite for me and at times I see myself going to these gyms to get a workout that is more appealing for me. Another thing I have noticed is that some of the cardio machines almost never see use and could possibly be replaced by other machines. This is an amazing gym overall but it could definitely see some improvement. From other people I have spoken to they all noticed the big price increases on memberships and guest passes, and I think it would be fitting to see some equipment upgrades to go along with the increased prices.
