Lutz Entertainment was recommended by our day of coordinator Jeanne Stark (Hudson Valley Ceremonies). After reading excellent review after excellent review and a quick phone screening, we hired him for our wedding. We met in person once before the wedding to review introductions and accompanying music, our first dance (which he performed live), our musical preferences and the entire run of show. And in the final weeks leading up to the wedding, Jimmy checked in to see if we had any additional requests or thoughts. The process was seamless and it showed the day of. For instance, my mother was insistent that dinner was not a time to be dancing and guests should be able to hear each other from across the table. Mindful of this, Jimmy used the time to play non-dancing music from some of our favorite bands at a lower level than normal. Speaking with a close friend (who knows my musical preferences) after the wedding, he expressed how personal the music was throughout the night, from introductions to dinner to dancing. Success! Jimmy's enthusiasm for music is infectious and my husband and I now find ourselves brainstorming ways we could incorporate him into future events, just so we could work with him again! I'm truthfully not even sure where to start with Jim & Lutz Entertainment. We were looking for a non-cheesy DJ with a true passion for music, and thats exactly what we got with Jim. For one, the meeting process was very laid back and low pressure, which is what we were looking for, especially with so many other things going on. As soon as we started explaining our musical tastes at our first meeting (my husband and I have very different interests musically), Jim gave suggestions that were seamless to our initial playlist ideas; providing things we didn't even think of! He's so much more than "just a DJ". He helped us to plan from before the ceremony, all the way through the reception. Even right down to the day of, he kept everything moving smoothly, even helping me to relax when rain was suddenly in the forecast! He was truly an asset to our team, working well with the other vendors and keeping our wants and needs at the forefront of the night. We didn't want any requests (unless they were a good fit into what was already playing, fully trusting Jim with the decision) and he did a great job of honoring that, without being abrasive to our guests. If we could recommend Lutz Entertainment 1000x over, we would. Jimmy was our DJ for our October wedding. We can't say enough great things about Jimmy. We were looking for someone who would keep the party going with music of our choosing/style, but could sense the crowd and make accommodations to the music from there. We didn't want anyone too over the top in terms of an MC, and Jimmy was just that. He provided just the right amount of engagement without being too flashy or over the top. Jimmy also worked with us to pick out the perfect lineup of songs for our recessional/intros/ and cocktail hour. My husband and I had an idea of what kind of artists and music we liked, and jimmy provided tons of recommendations to make the planning process super easy. Jimmy is very laid back, accommodating, and has fair and affordable prices. Jimmy was on time, professional, and personable. We chose not to let guests request songs, and Jimmy was very conscientious of our wishes, and only played music that fit what we asked for. Jimmy DJ'ed our wedding at Mountainview Manor in Glen Spey, NY and was absolutely fantastic. He came recommended to us by the venue and we set up a Skype interview. He was very fun and excited about the ideas we had, praising us for going beyond what people had asked for in the past. We emailed back and forth some Dos and Don'ts, all of which he loved. We Skyped again before the wedding to iron things out and he played different music and genres for us and we shared specific songs we had from our own libraries. By the end of the session, we were all giddy and so excited. We knew we'd made the right choice. He showed up to the venue right on time, set everything up seamlessly while we took photos. The ceremony music got the waterworks going immediately (my wife walked to "This is Love" from Cinderella. I was a mess) and he played "Power of Love" after we were announced as a couple (which he also loved). He played film scores and soundtracks during the cocktail hour - which no less than 5 people stopped me to compliment ("Did you just have the theme from 'Jurassic Park' at your wedding?!"). He and I also arranged a surprise dance number with myself and my groomsmen for my wife during the reception. He played the theme from "Ghostbusters" at dinner and EVERYONE sang along. He played two songs I specifically requested for my in-laws and even replayed the song we danced to later in the evening because so many people asked us to do the full dance ("That's What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction from "Just Dance 4". It was awesome and it's on You Tube). He played a perfect mix of pop hits and classic rock and oldies. There wasn't a single moment when there wasn't someone on the dance floor. Grandmas and 11 year old cousins and everyone in between. It was so much fun and we got so many compliments. I couldn't recommend him enough. I want him to DJ my life. read more

All was well in the beginning including the price and the playlist. Then at the time of the event ,the DJ showed up smelling of alcohol and refuse to play requested songs. We had a 4 hour event and he started packing up 21/2 hours in saying he had another engagement to attend. When we asked for a refund the Dj said to F#*k off and se. Him in court. Ok I will. I will never recommend lutz entertainment and believe you shouldn't either. read more

Jimmy was everything we could have hoped for in a DJ for our wedding! We had a small, low-key wedding with no bridal party and no traditional add-ons (bouquet toss, father/daughter dance, etc.). We just wanted good music and a good time. We met with him a few times over Skype and knew that he would be perfect. We gave him some suggestions for music just so he could get a feel for our style and told him to just go with whatever he wanted. And did he ever!! He has an amazing feel for a room and knows how to ramp the party up as well as calm it down, like when it was time for dinner. We had a very diverse group so we told him not to be shy about the classics and to mix in whatever he felt would keep the party going. The dance floor was packed for our entire reception and even my dad, tie-loosened, called Jimmy "out of this world". In fact, many of our guests kept telling us over and over all evening how great he was. He also played guitar and sang for cocktail hour and it was such a great touch. From the beginning of the ceremony until the last dance, Jimmy was a total pro and created the most amazing atmosphere for our wedding. I couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

We had Jimmy DJ our wedding on July 4th of this year in Ashokan, NY. He showed up early, on a holiday, set up everything, and made the event amazing. He played acoustic guitar and sang during our cocktail hour ( VERY well worth it), did all the introductions flawlessly, and played great music, all to our liking, all night long. My wife and I sat with Jimmy twice at his place before the big day, and helped us plan out the what to play upon out guest's arrival, the ceremony, and the reception. His timing was perfect and knew exactly what to play to get the crowd going. His acoustic guitar and singing during the cocktail hour was just amazing. Our guests are still raving about how great he was. Hs passion for music shows in the amazing skills he possesses. He also wrote down all the names for introductions phonetically and studied them, and did everything perfectly. Jimmy is well worth every penny and I would definitely use him again. read more
