I worked for this company for quite a few years coming out of High School. Here's some main points…read morethat I've noticed other reviewers mentioning as well 1. THIS IS NOT A PYRAMID SCHEME A "Pyramid Scheme" job is where a business model that recruits members via a promise of payments or services for ENROLLING OTHERS into the scheme, rather than supplying investments or sale of products or services. With Vector Marketing you DO NOT need to recruit other people to make money. You start off in a comfortable environment by showing your family and family friends. You ask them to refer you to other people who they think might be nice enough to see the demonstration and you go on from there. You also DO NOT need to sell the knives to get paid. There is a BASE PAY when you show qualified customers. BUT if you do end up selling the product you get a COMMISSION based pay if it equals to more than the base pay. You sell more you make more! But you always have the safety net of the base pay. 2. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR START UP KIT. The startup kit is entirely free. All that they ask is for a few references so that in case the kit goes missing or gets lost, they can contact you through them to get it back. 3. IT'S A SCAM It's really not. Marketing isn't for everyone. This is an entry level sales position and if it's not for you, it's not for you. If you follow the system and guidelines it works! I sold $10,000 worth of the product in my first summer. WITHOUT A CAR. But honestly if you do need a job and some sort of income, I highly recommend it! It breaks you out of your comfort zone and helps you with future job opportunities!

    1. The training will rush you to start scheduling appointments on the very first day. We had little…read moreor no idea of how to run a presentation, how easy or difficult it will be to acquire those skills, or how time consuming this preparation will be. This degraded my confidence in the training process as well as how successful I will be in getting off the ground at Vector Marketing. 2. They will expect you to do a number of things right after training, on the same day. If your training happens in the late afternoon or evening, you will be very rushed, as I was. In my case, I felt this was extremely poorly planned on the part of the individuals running the training. Rushing through like this just leads to sloppy and poor results. 3. The products are good but unless you're a professional chef, you just don't need knives that cost several thousand dollars. You don't. So remember, they want you to sell products that are outrageously expensive, and that's very hard. 4. The training is unpaid. 5. There is no base pay. 6. Appointments/presentations earn you only $35 each. 7. They tell you about opportunities to earn bonuses, but to be able to do that you would need to spend an extraordinary amount of time trying to sell these overpriced products, and you simply need a lot of luck. 8. They expect you to do most if not all of your appointments online. This seems like a great idea, you don't have to physically go anywhere. But the obvious problem is that people don't want to buy anything unless they can see it for themselves, especially if they would be spending a substantial amount of money. If you don't sell anything, you don't get paid - and they threaten to let you go from the team! 9. So let's say that you decide to do more in person appointments to improve your sales. The problem is that Vector Marketing is so cheap, they will not give you any demo products that you could take to appointments! You have to buy the expensive knives, to have something to show customers. This is just outrageous! 10. They expect you to exploit all your family and friends, down several layers, like your friends' parents, their friends, your parents' colleagues, their friends, etc. This is because they know the only way you can sell this stuff (and thus make them money) is by exploiting your social connections. Beyond that, these products are almost impossible to sell, unless you are a very experienced and pushy, manipulative salesperson. 11. The training is highly tailored toward young people such as college students. So if you're older than say 30, this is not for you. 12. Once you sign up, the management is not supportive, is not responsive to questions, and in fact will treat you with downright disrespect. This is unusual for any sales team, since the only thing that's usually positive about sales is that they try to pump you up to stay positive. At Vector they don't even do that right. 13. I feel this is because the local management is too young, too inexperienced and simply too immature. The DOM (division office manager) is very young, projects no positive energy, but with his experience I would expect significantly better answers to questions related to presentations to the customers. He is absolutely no leader. He doesn't even know how to wear a suit or a tie.
