LI recently had an excellent experience with San Francisco Bay Computer Services. My daughter's MacBook Air (15-inch, M2, 2023) had a cracked screen and water damage. The screen had lines and would black out, making the laptop unusable. When I took it to the Apple Store, I was quoted $1,100 just to send it in for diagnosis, or $1,400 for a new laptop. I contacted two other repair shops, but they didn't handle Macs or water damage. Thankfully, I found San Francisco Bay Computer Services. They quoted me $467 for the repair, which included a screen with the Apple logo. I paid a 50% deposit, and they ordered the part, which arrived in just one day. I dropped off the laptop in the morning and picked it up the same day--fully repaired and working perfectly! My wife spilled water on her laptop keyboard, which rendered it inoperable. To compound the problem she had no data backup. She first took the laptop to the nearest Apple store. They offered two options. Either replace the internal hardware or buy a new laptop. The replacement would have cost close to the amount of a new computer and they didn't address the data issue. They weren't interested in a repair possibility and didn't even counsel her that time (the corrosive nature of water) was of the essence if she wanted to save the computer. I found this company searching Yelp. So thanks to all the previous reviewers. Brought the computer in on a Friday evening. Ed first explained his process for problem solving. Began by looking inside to assess the damage and backup the data in case the computer couldn't be saved since there was quite a bit of damage. He communicated throughout with my wife to allow her to make decisions along the way. He thought there was a chance he could get the laptop working again and ordered the replacement parts. Parts received on Monday, completed testing, laptop fully functional again, picked it up on Monday. The price to repair was fair. Eduardo provided excellent service when my PC wouldn't boot up after I lost power. I tried multiple ways to restart it but didn't want to restore factory settings and lose all my documents and photos. My Dell computer was only 5 years old but was purchased on eBay after upgrading to Windows 10 so there were some concerns. Eduardo ran a diagnostic test overnight and confirmed he couldn't get it started either. He noted that hard drives often fail after a few years, and suggested replacing it after backing up the data. He restored my data, replaced the hard drive and it's much faster. I did have to purchase Windows Office (one license) to get the software back but it wasn't too bad. I had to consider whether it was time to retire a 2012 MacBook Pro. I'd already replaced the battery, upgraded the HDD to SSD, added memory... alI that on my own. Then it quit booting up. I could get the computer going, but it would not read from the drive. So, brought it in to Eduardo. He quickly diagnosed that the connector was bad, so he replaced it. That seemed to work but then was failing later. I was able to boot it with the back cover removed, but that's hardly a solution. He looked at it again, then determined the issue may be in the drive itself. He cloned the disk onto a new HDD, installed it all, at a reasonable cost (no insane markup on the parts that some places might try to get away with). A little while later, certain keys stop working. He was able to replace the keyboard, for a fast and efficient solution. At this point, yeah, I'm into it a little bit financially on the repairs, but at a fraction of the cost of a new computer. The footers of my computer had come off, and I ordered some new ones and installed them... poorly. They already started coming off. But wait, what's this... after getting the keyboard fixed, my laptop has all new footer pads? It's a bummer when a computer needs some extra care, but the silver lining on that cloud is knowing I've got a friendly and competent business out there who can help, and who I'm happy to support. read more

The Best! My computer suddenly died, and Eduardo diagnosed it as a fried motherboard. He said he could get a new motherboard, but it would be almost as expensive as a new computer. I suddenly had computer issues (more specifically, it would turn on but nothing would show on the monitor) so I took it in. The person working the front was very respectful and easy to talk to. He was very upfront about the cost which I appreciate as well. I took it in about an hour before closing and he called me back the next day less than 24 hours later to pick it up and answered any questions I had (turns out the problem was with my video card but he was able to fix it). I split an entire cup of coffee on my laptop and thought for sure it was a goner. I found SF bay Computer Services on yelp and after seeing their stellar reviews decided to call them. Ed, I believe the owner was so responsive, helpful and told me to come immediately and drop it off. As soon i got there I knew I was in good hands. He told me that he would let me know if it was worth trying to fix and if he felt that too much damage was done he would just let me know as opposed to trying to fix something that ultimately would have issues. I want to thank Ed for his friendly and professional service. Anyone who has had that awful feeling you get when your computer, which contains so much essential information and years of work, crashes multiple times in a few days and finally refuses to boot up, knows you need to hand it to someone you can trust. Even with an online backup service, you never know what might be lost. While the outcome was not what I wished, which would be to wave a magic wand and have the computer work perfectly, it was as close to that as possible for an elderly laptop that had lived beyond its expiration date and a beat up hard drive that lost its will to live. Three days after I dropped it off with Ed, I got my computer back with a new hard drive and what appears to be all my data files, for a very reasonable cost. I will have to re-download my software but I left the shop with his assurance that he will be there for additional assistance and support if I need it. I don't take much stock in Yelp reviews given this age of misinformation. Despite this, I feel compelled to express the amazing service I got from Edwardo at SF Bay Computers. I had somehow splashed some coffee into my closed Mac Book Pro and it stopped working. After taking it to Apple and a few other computer "repair" shops, I made a last ditch effort to save my beloved Mac and took it to SFBCS. You see, everyone else told me it was "toast" and more costly to repair than a new computer. Problem is nobody wants to fix things these days, just replace them and I wasn't going to put a $2400 computer to the curb because it was seemingly "toast". That's where Edwardo comes in. He strongly urged me to bring in the machine and at least give him a chance to bring it back to life and I'm so glad I did. Within a couple days he had the Mac fired back up and running. Additionally, he made sure all the functionality and stability were still there. This guy is a magician! SFBCS actually took the time to test the various components and found a bad IC as well as two cables. The cost of the repair was a mere fraction of what the other guys quoted.
