About 10 minutes and the nicest vet tech Dillan took me back and did the work up, explained things, and was very gentle and kind with blood draw etc. and the cat did surprisingly well with them in and out of the carrier several times. I was on a time crunch to get to work and they were very sensitive to my time. They did not try to get me to do all kinds of unnecessary testing or treatments. Dr. Fant was very kind and thorough and explained everything well. I was in and out of there within an hour. Extremely pleased. The bill was very reasonable, I thought. Beth at checkout was super nice as well. It was clean and not crowded and they took their time with us. I will definitely recommend them to others and return for future needs. The staff were super friendly and seemed very experienced. They had to give her a shot and I swear she didn't even noticed that she was given one! At my old vet she use to hiss and growl at this one she actually purred! They gave me some medicine and sent us on our way. Pancakes got so much better and I really have this place to thank! I would also like to add that they were not at all expensive. A total exam, a shot of some medicine to make her eat, an IV since she was dehydrated, and a 30 day supply of pills ran me about $90 which probably would have cost me upwards of $200 or more if I went to the Decatur clinic.

The person with whom I spoke indicated that a conversation was had with the front desk people and the vet (who was not even present when I was there). After I indicated that there was no one in the waiting area or in the parking lot, an explanation was given as to why no vet's were available to help my pet. Needless to say, I requested my vet records be sent to me and I will no longer be a patron of an establishment who does not put a pet in need first.

I'm writing this review almost a year after my dog has fully recovered. It's been such an emotional…read morejourney but Dr. Whitehead at BluePearl saved my little furbaby and I'm forever grateful for him and the team at BluePearl! I co-parent both of my dogs and my previous partner had moved to GA and my two dogs also spent the first half of the year in GA and then back to CA with me. Unfortunately, 2-3 months after moving to GA, my Maltese started having health issues. I came to GA to visit my dogs and first noticed an extended belly on my Maltese and he would always have soft stool and at times constant diarrhea. My intuition told me something was not right and I took him to Ansley animal clinic. I was then referred by Dr. Spook to see Dr. Whitehead at BluePearl since he is the internal medicine doctor here. We went through tons of bloodwork, urine analysis, ultrasounds, x-rays and probably a few other tests that I'm forgetting. At first there were 3 possible issues my furbaby was facing and each test was to rule out the worst ones. At least, Dr. Whitehead confidently diagnosed my dog with IBD. He then explained the treatment plan for him and the next steps to take. My dog was then put on a steroid call Prednisone and some anti-diarrhea medication. This is where things got really bad...I flew back to CA while my dog was in GA with my previous partner and on his current treatment. Randomly, one day he stopped eating, became lethargic and his skin started to turn yellow. He was brought to BluePearl's ER 2x and did bloodwork both times but they found nothing. Finally, on the third visit to the ER, his lab work came back with EXTREMELY elevated liver and kidney levels. It was so high to the point where the ER doctor called me and said he would be dying in a day or two and there is nothing they could do. Can you imagine receiving this call while being thousands of miles away from your furbaby... I got on the next flight back to GA to say my goodbyes. At this point, I was very heartbroken and had to see him one last time. But miraculously, he was admitted and Dr. Whitehead started aggressive IV treatment for him to do everything he can. Slowly, over the next 4-5 days my little guy started to do better and better. He was discharged on the 5th day when his values were looking more normal and went home. At this point he was on 7 kinds of medication, had lost 2.5 lbs and was all skins and bones at 3lbs. Completely heartbreaking to see him in this state. I've since brought both of my dogs back to CA, where I continued to nurture my Maltese back to health. He started to slowly eat bigger meals again, I slowly took him off 6 medications that he no longer needed but kept him on the Prednisone to regulate the gut bacteria for his IBD. Fast forward almost a year later, my Maltese is completely weened off the Prednisone, eating full meals, playing, back to his old self and weighing a healthy 6lbs. I want to thank Dr. Whitehead TREMENDOUSLY, although we have not kept in touch since we've gotten back to CA. But to say Dr. Whitehead is an incredible veterinarian is an understatement. He was highly professional, honest, transparent and very goal driven to finding the best treatment for my dog. The staff at BluePearl were all very great to work with and very empathic throughout the entire time. No matter how many times I called to check on my dog, asked questions, they were so patient and kind. Unfortunately, I had to take away a star because the ER doctor that called me at 3am PST, really didn't sound like she cared about my dog and emotionlessly told me he was not going to make it.

She collapsed on the hardwood floor, thrashing and snapping her head from side to side for what felt like an eternity -- nearly 5 minutes. I have never in my life seen Misty like this. She looked like she couldn't even breathe on her own. I truly thought I was about to watch my dog die right in front of me. What makes this even worse is that I was never warned this could happen. The staff rushed her discharge, handed her back to me without any real education or concern, and sent us home as if nothing serious could occur. There was no sympathy, no urgency, no sense of responsibility for my dog's safety. Misty weighs 52 pounds -- in the middle of this seizure I could barely even lift her. I had to drag her limp, thrashing body just to get her onto her bed so she would stop slamming her head on the hardwood floor. No owner should ever have to go through that alone. I even have video proof of this nightmare that I will attach with my review. As her owner, what was I supposed to do in that moment? I trusted these people to keep her safe, to care for her, and instead I was left completely unprepared and traumatized. The lack of compassion and communication at this hospital is inexcusable. I will never bring Misty back here again. Pet owners deserve a hospital that takes the time to properly monitor, educate, and support us through situations like this -- not one that treats our beloved pets like just another number.

I followed Violet from her old location and have been taking my pets to her for years. She is very detail oriented and if she ever sees anything of concern she'll bring it up to me which I really appreciate. She always has the pets wellbeing foremost in her mind and often discusses with me what grooming is right for them rather than just trying to add unnecessary services. They are also very patient with my cat who has definitely scratched them multiple times but they still give their best effort. The office staff are also very nice!

My cat had a wound on his nose that only kept getting bigger as the days went by so i decided to call in late for work and take him in to be examined. I come in the staff is kind and quick but they misdiagnosed my cats condition and said he had "cat acne", I told them my concerns that his wound was only getting bigger and uglier and showed some pictures and I was told it happens because the type of food bowl I use for him and maybe he rubs his face with his paws that's causing it to get worse, I was skeptical but I decided to trust in them so I take him home and replace his food bowl to a metal one like I was told and remove anything he could hurt himself with and leave for work. Coming back home I come to find his nose even worse and now bleeding a bit so I cleaned him up and wasn't much worried because he was still eating and playful so I decided to trust what the vet said and keep an eye on him. It wasn't until the next morning I saw it start spreading from one side of his nose to the next where I couldn't bring myself to let it slide any longer so I took him to another vet for a second opinion to find out my cat has FCV... very far from "cat acne." If I had not been skeptical and fully trusted them my cats condition would've only continued to worsen as his wound only keep getting bigger and bleeding occasionally.

She was a beautiful cat but torty and in the short few months she was with us had found her way into our hearts and sadly she passed but not before the staff at Sugarloaf animal hospital did all they could to revive her. I was moved by their care their urgency and compassion in trying to help our newly adopted cat which we named Brownie. They could not have been more professional and they could not have been more caring. I am usually a stoic individual but not that day. They did as much to care for me as they did in trying to revive Brownie. They wrapped her with care and I was able to bring her home with dignity. Everyone and I mean everyone on the staff poured their efforts and empathy into the urgent care of brownie and I will never forget it.
