The highlight was the "water ring" used to wash my hair -- it felt so unique and luxurious, like a mini spa waterfall just for my head. The session finished with hot stones placed along my shoulders and neck, which released every bit of stiffness I usually go to the Chiropractor to get that kind of relief. I left feeling light, serene, and deeply refreshed -- my hair soft, my scalp tingling, and my mind clear. If you're looking for a treatment that's both relaxing and rejuvenating, I can't recommend this Japanese head massage enough with Kimmy at Luxury Nails. The only negative thing I can say is that the one hour session felt like it was over in 15 minutes. I could not believe how quickly one hour went. My technician had a sour disposition and was basically phoning it in. When I pointed out an obvious bubbled area, she blamed me for not relaxing enough. I thought real long and hard about writing this review because I seldom write negative ones. However, in the end I decided that I have appreciated the Yelp community so much that I need to give back. I went to Luxury every 2 weeks for a little over 2 months. First clue for me not to return: I was rushed to pick a color on my first visit. This is so important because I'll be wearing it for 2 weeks!! Yet I stayed. Second clue: during my second visit, my tech, Anna, scraped the gel polish off my nails very hard. Obviously, she didn't allow the polish remover to sit long enough on my nails. Only a few minutes vs. 15 like I'm used to. And yet I stayed. Third clue: on my next visit, my nails were sore!! I should have stopped there & then yet I stayed. Next visit she buffed them really hard and I said I was worried about one of the nails. She smiled and kept working. Yeah... so that was that for this fool. I called a friend who always has beautiful nails who I discovered lives near me. I asked if she went to a nearby nail salon and yes she does!! She told me who her nail tech is and I went there to ask her remove the polish. She was so incredibly gentle. Actually, just professional, normal. She and I were both surprised and appalled at the state of rawness of my nails. She recommended I use cuticle oil a couple of times a day, protect them as much as possible until they get stronger and no polish for now. Sadly, I cannot recommend Luxury after my experience. I must say I was disappointed by the service or lack of service I received the shop on Friday, Oct 7th. I called Ms. Kimmy on Wednesday, specifically asking I wanted someone that can do design like Ms. Annie does for me since Ms. Annie will be available on that Friday. 1. The lady that Ms. Kimmy put me with on that Friday, Oct 7th came with an attitude. She told me the polish I picked was not gel and doesn't come in gel. She did not offer me the gel selection card to pick from or recommend a similar color like other nail technicians. 2. I showed her the picture of what I wanted. This is something similar to what Ms. Annie has done for me before. The nail tech o did not even look at it well before saying she doesn't do design. I asked her what type of design she can do? She was quick to answer with her nasty attitude that she doesn't do any design and only do plain polish. Again I specifically told Kimmy on Wednesday when I made an appointment that I wanted a technician that can do some design. 4. At this point she started speaking Vietnamese to Kimmy before she then asked me if I wanted to talk to Kimmy. Her attitude and lack of customer service further discouraged me and I told her I want to leave, but needed to wipe my feet. She ignored me and I got up to leave but then fell down from my wet feed and floor. No one bothered to run to check if I was okay but stared at me instead. Which was very disappointing. Luxury nails is not the only nail shop in Mount airy but I come there because of a friend's referral me and because of the exceptional service I have been getting from Ms. Annie. I guess Ms Kimmy doesn't mind loosing one customer and getting a bad review. Hence the way I was all handled! Patronize at your own risk! Went in for a 12:45 pedicure appointment and was told the appointment was at 12:30, which I would have never agreed to because I drop my daughter at school then so I always make appointments 12:45 or later. The owner was very rude scolding me for being late for my appointment. Then told me Hannah could do a quick pedicure but she had a 1pm coming in. I decided to leave without getting my toes done because a 15min pedicure didn't sound appealing! Not sure I will ever return or recommend them again! Hands down the best salon in Mount Airy. The staff here is uber friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. I've had over 20 pedicures here and I've never felt rushed or unsatisfied once. The pedicure chairs are wonderful and, best of all, the chairs do not violently shake you. The pedicure itself is well worth the money. The nail technicians are very attentive and do quality work. The pedicure itself lasts at least 2 weeks without chipping. My favorite part is the leg massages- you get one during the scrub and one during the lotion. I may have dozed off once or twice during said massages because they are o so relaxing. All in all, my favorite salon in the area. Quality services for an affordable price. read more

This is the nicest nail salon, or spa I should say, in Mount Airy that I have been to.The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing. As a newer salon all the equipment is new and clean. The pedicurists/manicurists don't rush and do a good job. I get pedicures to relax and I can definitely say I feel relaxed here. My pedicure included 2 massages...one with a scrub and another with a lotion. I like that they keep a hot towel on your legs while painting your nails. My pedicure was done very thoroughly. The price is good and they even have a kids pedicure chair! I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to join me! They even offer you a drink when you get there. One last thing...when I visited the day before Mother's Day they were giving out a little baggie with a bottle of OPI polish to all the mothers! read more

I discovered this nails spa by accident and I'm glad I did. The shop is really clean. I've been to a dozen of nails salons over the years and this shop has to be one of the cleanest shop. The massage that I received for my pedicure was exceptional long (and felt so good) compared to other pedicures that I've got. A gel manicure here is $5 more than where I usually go however, it is fairly close to home and they do a great job. I was able to walk-in and was taken immediately. They have a great variety of choices. The atmosphere is Spa-like. As usual they do try to up sale you but, back down after you say what you want and no add-ons. read more

My rating has nothing to do with the work done by the technicians. You will get a great manicure, pedicure, or other service. My complaint has to do with the way my mother was treated. My mother, 86-years-old, and I have been coming here for a few months. Kimmie, who I'm told is the owner's sister, did my mother's nails and was always very kind and sweet to her, calling her "Mama." Kimmie, however, is also the only one who is allowed to make any appointments, coffee, start the music, etc., so if you have Kimmie as your tech, she, and by extension your service, will be interrupted. On Saturdays it's particularly bad. I said to Anna, who was doing my nails, that the salon really should get a receptionist, that it was unfair to anyone who has Kimmie that she always has to stop to answer the phone, make appointments, sign for packages. My mother said nothing to Kimmie - I made the comment to Anna. The appointment following my comment, Kimmie was incredibly cold to my mother. She didn't welcome her and zipped through her appointment (12 minutes, aided by the fact that she only put two coats of polish on one hand). When we left, my mother was upset, as she had done nothing wrong. In fact, neither did I. It would not be unreasonable for this salon to bring in a receptionist, even if only for Saturdays. This was absolutely shameful behavior for a woman who claims to be a Christian. We will not be back. read more

I was here once before and received great pedicure. Not only the service was nice and long but also the staff was great. The guy who did mine took his time and definitely made me want to come back. Not this time tho! I was rushed! Maybe they were short staffed but I don't think anyone should feel rushed in the nail salon. And again I'm not getting a basic pedicure. I really wanted to like this place. I've heard from numerous sources how great they were and they have great reviews. I have been looking for a new location to get my nails done. I made an appointment long in advance. When we arrived we were told it would be a minute. Ok, no big deal, I am fine with waiting during a transition. 25 minutes later we were finally seen. Our nail tech seemed to take too many walk ins and apologized for the "scheduling confusion." I do try and give people the benefit of the doubt, because maybe there was a miscommunication. But we ended up feeling rushed the whole time. Today my cuticles are so sore and swollen and I am very worried about an infection. The polish job on my nails looks like something I could do at home. Honestly, I can look past the bad polish job aspect. I took my daughter here for a girls day experience before her first day of school. That was the point of the trip. But we felt rushed after making an appointment and I ended up with very sore fingers the next day. Luckily my daughters nails look beautiful and clean. They were very great and kind with her.
