We liked Luxx a lot! It's an older building so don't expect frills. But do expect a really chill vibe, comfortable rooms, friendly service and great location near the plaza. Louie was easy to work with and glad that you came in town to visit. The setup Luxx has for parking is worth it. Tricky at first: you have to enter through the exit lane and then go out the pedestrian gate at the left. You'll see. Beds are comfortable. We loved the lavender infused essential oil soaps. Inside your room the decor reflects the brown and tan colors of the desert. The all-natural animal print was almost a bit too African (ever see a zebra in the New Mexican desert?) But hey, it works. The back patio is a great option for a gas fire and hot tub. The main common room has fantastic sky lighting and relaxing music. But you need to stay here for the location. We walked everywhere. Museums, shops, churches, restaurants, and the plaza are all a stone's throw away. read more

As other reviews have mentioned, the place is keyless. Normally, I love that, but when I stayed at the Luxx, someone tried to enter my room late at night. I was staying in this room alone, so I was a bit freaked out. When he (obviously) failed to enter my room, he went around the back and tried to enter through the window!!! My room was on the first floor, facing the backyard sitting area (where there are seats, fountains, a tub). The guest was probably drunk and forgot which room was his, but it was still scary to have him try to enter my room twice. I don't necessarily blame Luxx for this issue, but when I raised this at check-out the next day, the man at the counter laughed and said something along the lines that he'd have better luck next time. Wtf -- Even if we weren't in this period of #metoo and #imwithher, I never want the hotel employee to joke about my room being broken into. Another thing is that I booked the Luxx through Booking.com and was sent a reservation confirmation with the final price. When I checked my credit card, there was a discrepancy. It wasn't much, but still odd that they charged me more than they said they would. I tried calling, I left a couple of voicemails -- no response. Bottom-line: Find somewhere else to stay. read more

One thing that they don't advertise on their website: they have a keyless entry system for the hotel and its rooms that requires, in this day and age where we all walk around with hundreds of passcodes in our heads, that you memorize another goddamned sequence of numbers just for the time you're staying with them. I for one would rather have to keep track of a physical object than memorize a sequence of numbers that I can't even choose myself, but that is not an option. Another thing that they don't advertise on their website: there really is NO ONE THERE at night. If there's a fire, you'll have to find your way outside with no staff assistance. If you have a medical emergency that prevents you from getting to an outside door, you'll have to wait while the paramedics find some way into the building without the help of a staff person. If you just have a question, you can wait until they open up at seven in the morning. If there's an axe murderer walking the halls while everyone's asleep, the chances of an employee being able to call the police are zero. And, as I found out myself at one in the morning, if you lock yourself out, the company policy is apparently that you're fucked. There's no one to let you in if you run out to your car and then discover that you didn't memorize that sequence of numbers correctly after all. I spent forty minutes trying to guess which variation on the code would work to let me back into the hotel. Then I tried calling the number that, the front desk had assured us, we should not hesitate to call if we need anything, anything at all, and which I'd only held off calling for that long because I didn't want to wake up that employee. But after forty minutes of standing in the snow trying to guess the four-digit code--there is nothing near the back gate that would keep rain or snow off of your head--I finally called the number and let it ring through to voicemail, because of course no one picked up. Nor did the outgoing voicemail message mention the business name, but just, I suppose, the name of the dude who was on call that night. There was no actual human answering, though. So after an hour standing in the falling snow by the back gate, just as I was starting to think I'd better give up, another person staying at the hotel came back and let me in with him. Once inside the building, I was then able to wake up my girlfriend, whose phone was on silent while she was asleep. If there hadn't been another hotel guest coming home from a bar at 1:45 on a Thursday morning, I would have spent the night shivering in my car. So I would like to say that cheaping out on having an employee on site overnight is shitty economizing, especially because (a) it's not like they're passing the savings on to the customer, and (b) it's a bad combination with a "memorize an entry code" policy, and (c) the guy on call doesn't appear to answer his phone He DID finally call back more than two hours after I called him--I assume that was him, as no one else in Santa Fe would have any reason to call me; but I was fast asleep by then, and by the time I'd woken up and struggled over to my phone, he'd hung up without leaving a message. Helpfully, he called back six hours later, while I was in the shower, and did not leave a message that time either. Think I'll stay in places that have more standard staffing and key policies in the future. read more

I have to echo the other reviews - the place is a bit chaotic. This tiny hotel (nestled between a sushi restaurant and a coffee shop) really needs to work on their customer service. The Lobby area only operates in the mornings/afternoons so there is essentially no way to reach management after hours. (No, they do not pick up phone calls at the number they provide.) The rooms are cute and feature all the amenities one might need. There is a toaster oven, coffee maker, fridge, iron, flatscreen w/netflix. The place was all done by a few friends (and I suspect they were not professionals) from paint, to decor shopping, to wiring. Perhaps, they should have hired an electric because our room's AC could not be shut off. My partner and I had to throw a down sleeping bag on top of the comforter because it was so chilly. All in all, this place is decent. But, if the owner wants to charge 100 and upwards for a room, s/he needs to realize that customers will expect a higher level of service. P.S. Fantastic customer service by totally cool & friendly staff, wine/cheese waiting for us right at check in the awesomely cozy, chic and fabulous lobby, every detail is wonderfully thought out like pennies embedded chair, owl painting, and animal print fuzzy blankets. What not to love about this hotel?? Even the detailing on the doors and countertop were pretty. There is a parking garage they'll give you a pass to ($10/day) and side entrance and room are accessible with a code which they text to you before you arrive. Awesome. This fab hotel is located smack in the middle of everything so you can walk to all the cool places to see & the park where burning of Zozobra is held, for which we booked this hotel. Plus is that they have two bed/rooms sort of separated by the narrow path that goes to the main bed/room so you could go with family or friend(s) to share a room. Fabulous deal!! WINE & cheese, double queen beds for the price of one, amazingly amusing room decor AND super friendly and attentive service...what else can you ask for?? This hotel has some nice things (location, hip themed rooms, full kitchen availability) and some draw backs (very limited service, questionable housekeeping). Beware that check-in is 3:30 to 8pm, so if you arrive before or after that time you will be very hard pressed to find anyone to check you in. It would be helpful if this information was anywhere online or in their hotel, or if they had a 24-hour number posted for customers. There really isn't a front desk, rather a office/lobby/drum set display/central area in the center of the hotel. The kitchen is open to guests and looked stocked with enough amenities to run a restaurant. However, spare microwaves and refridgerators from guest rooms were stacked in almost half the space. Perhaps we came in the middle of restaging event, dunno. Check in was odd. It took us 35 minutes to check in and we were the only people in the lobby. The owner/manager showed us two rooms and encouraged us to take a single over a double room which we did (the double room bedspread was obviously stained and the room layout was very odd). One hour after settling in, he asked us to switch back to the double room since a longer term customer turned up asking for a single. Ironically, the double room now had matresses stacked in it which would have delayed us from switching/unpacking, so we declined to move. The rooms were very handsomely appointed with hip fixtures but it became obvious that the rooms were very small with little room to unpack anything, including toiletries. The next day we went to ask for a hairdryer and were hard pressed to find ANYONE in the hotel. Eventually a manager appeared with a guest who sufferred through the cold night with no heat, and no one to call about it. There was no one in sight for checkout and we never got a final bill. We were told during check-in that parking was $19 but a $32 charge showed up. Upon inquiring about this, they "text'd" that the $19 was a resort fee and that a $10 booking fee and tax were added. None of this was ever discussed and it highlighted the unusual operation of this hotel. This hotel highlights itself as causual which was a neat departure from regular hotels, but it is annoying if something happens where you will need assistance. read more

Down a corridor behind a Sushi restaurant lurks the Luxx Hotel. I had read about how this hotel felt like a hostel, but couldn't really believe it until I experienced it myself! There's no lobby, you simply walk into a hallway as you enter. And that's it. Seriously. There is no way to know where to check in. No signs, no desk, nothing. Luckily, I saw someone drinking wine at a computer in the lounge area and correctly guessed that he could check us in. This is the last I saw of any staff members during my two night stay. Here's the real dealbreaker for this hotel: security. There is none. Our room was assigned a generic doorcode of "7777" which could not be changed, and which we were informed operated the back door lock as well. I'd like to think every room in the hotel wasn't assigned this code as well. I've also never had a hotel room that faced a wall quite like this. Two feet from the window was a stucco wall, so it was like being on an interior cabin on a cruise ship. The room was clean, but had obviously been built on the cheap (dated sponge painting, odd outdoor electrical fixtures covering hacked-together electrical conduits under the TV, and a TINY bathroom. Despite it being around 75 in the room, the AC had been shut off and we had to rely on a ceiling fan. When checkout time came, there was no staff to be found so we just left, hoping that we wouldn't be charged more than the agreed-upon amount. About that, though - there's a $25/day fee added on to every reservation! That's right - a hotel that is essentially a TJ Maxx'd out Motel 6 charges a resort fee higher than most hotels in Vegas (which come with a fitness room, pool, robes, etc. etc.). Something about a fee that equals around 30% of the daily rate just rubs me wrong - especially when the hotel has done absolutely nothing to deserve the extra bucks. FYI: This is the 3 star hotel in the Santa Fe Plaza district on Hotwire. Of course, you probably didn't look at the possibility of resort fees (I didn't) since no three star rated hostel charges one, but I suppose that makes me the fool. One last hilarious (to me) part: one of the pieces of "art" in our room was some weird pop-art style silhouette of a woman shadowed in dollar bills - but in the corner of each of the colored tiles was a digital camera timestamp from 4/19/2009. So not only was the art kinda bad, and not only was it almost certainly stolen from somewhere else, they didn't even take the time to remove the timestamp on the photo before they printed it on canvas. Weirdest hotel experience in my life. I called weeks in advance to let them know my husband and I would be bringing our two small dogs. The front desk was very polite and said that it wouldn't be a problem because they allow dogs if we pay a little extra each night--totally fine. We arrive and the front desk employee had no idea what he was doing. He started to process our reservation and handed me a bill for someone who just checked out. He had no idea until I told him and then it took him an additional 30 minutes to check us in! We were the only ones in the lobby. I can't explain how awkward it was during this process. The owner waltzed in the lobby in a bathrobe asking for his morning paper, it was noon. He proceeded to tell us that we couldn't leave our dogs unattended in the hotel room (why would we book a hotel where we can't leave the dogs for a few hours?) and that if they barked the hotel would kick them out and make us pay to stay for them to stay in a kennel or if we didn't want to do that, would kick us out with them. Why not just take our cell numbers and if the dogs were incessantly barking, just call us and we would come back. We were always about 10 mins away. It would have been nice to know of their unrealistic policy when I first called, we would have booked somewhere else. Super annoying. The actual room was big and almost clean. The decorations are gross, like in a male strip club meets T.J. Max sort of way. Super gaudy--lots of tiger print and faux-goldleaf. It's like somebody's idea of opulence and class, but without actual taste or money. I really liked the location and actually liked that is was tucked between a sushi restaurant and coffee shop. And the room TV had Netflix, that was cool. The parking situation isn't ideal and costs a lot to use the garage next door. But we thought it was worth it instead of worrying about moving the car all the time. It's ok that they don't have someone on duty 24/7, but they need a better system when you need to check out when someone isn't there. We had to throw our key card through the locked lobby door onto the floor, hoping that they found it the next morning. We visit Santa Fe a few times a year and will definitely stay somewhere else in the future. read more

This is a very good example of how there ought to be an option for half-stars -- as in, for the Luxx Hotel, three and a half stars. Big pluses: very close in to the plaza, so walking distance from countless restaurants, galleries, museums, and freedom from the car (for which they have their own parking lot out back). And instead of being a "real" hotel, with a front desk (or even onsite staff) to speak of, regular housekeeping or room service, Luxx is really more accurately described as an upscale hostel -- which we liked. There's a common kitchen, and a large sitting room where you can hang out when you're not out and about, and while you can interact with other guests if you want, you can also be left alone. Substantial minus: I dunno if this is true of all or even most rooms, but ours (the Kokopelli room, No. 3) was not what we were expecting. Though it had two bedrooms, which we needed, those two bedrooms and a bathroom were it -- i.e., no place to hang out, which led to us feeling pretty cramped. Worse yet, the front bedroom was totally windowless, so in addition to the resulting claustrophobia, the air quickly began to smell like a locker room (and we are not stinky people) -- an aroma which could not be mitigated by opening a window (see above). So, basically, at the ends of the days, we'd dread coming back to our room, and would hang out in the common room until it was time to hit the sack. We didn't see any other rooms except for glimpses when their doors were open, so I would recommend asking about the particular room you are interested in booking to see if they match what you want (light, air circulation, etc.). As for the price, it was not cheap -- for a four-night stay, we paid over $900 -- which may be reasonable given the other nearby alternatives. And it does have a lot to commend it; just ask questions first. read more

The Pros: - Due to scheduling conflicts, my boyfriend and I received a free upgrade to a "King Suite." Based on what we saw peering into other rooms (the doors were open for unoccupied rooms), we aren't sure what the differences were, except we had a Cal King (very comfortable) vs. King size, a fridge and microwave, and a lounge couch. - There was a community room and kitchen that while difficult to find, was a good way to meet other people staying at the building and talk. It was also nice to have a place to do our dishes from our trip. - VERY close to the downtown plaza and amazing eats in the area. - Everything was very clean; dusted, mopped, sparkling, soft, clean sheets. The Cons: - My boyfriend and I booked this hotel with a winter-rate via Hotwire.com, but were surprised when we received our confirmation that indicated a resort fee and additional taxes had been added. Our $69/night (with taxes) was suddenly $92/night - not too happy about that. - The decor in the rooms were just not "Santa Fe-esque" at all. Rather than a southwestern feel, the rooms had zebra and leopard print pillows and throws, as well as Hindu statues on the end tables. - Kind of a tough place to find. The sign was small and led to a parking lot behind an empty building at the address, so we weren't sure as to where to go to enter the hotel. - Only one window in the room that looked out at an alley and another wall, although we did have a "fire escape" type door in addition to the main entrance. The Confusion: - Another reviewer described this place as an "upscale hostel." I'd have to agree. While able to communicate with a staff member before 10pm by text messaging (huh?), there wasn't a single staff member in sight. Everything was keyless entry, so if you didn't print out the number codes and your room number from the confirmation e-mail you and you're a late arrival like we were, then good luck! - The "Lounge" is an Airstream trailer parked in the parking lot. That's all I am going to say. - There was no wi-fi, but you could use the internet on the t.v. It came with a wireless keyboard and Google Chrome. This was really neat, but caused a problem when one of us wanted to use the computer and the other wanted to watch t.v.... Overall, it was a good deal for the original price we booked it for, but not worth the extra fees. read more

We returned to the Luxx in Santa Fe where we'd enjoyed a stay a couple years back. This is a charming, small, amazingly located hotel, clean, comfortable, with a very friendly and accommodating staff. It's a bit quirky - as we are - so we fit right in. The outdoor sitting area in the back with a hot tub, fountains, and nice plantings is a bonus oasis (at least in summertime). We'd like to award more stars, perhaps 7 - and give 10 to Louis at the front desk - who gave us extraordinary attention and help with several requests. Our next Santa Fe hotel stay will again be at the Luxx - recommending room #27 if available. read more

So much to rave about with this little hidden gem of a hotel right in the heart of Santa Fe: the location, barely a block off the Plaza; the adjacent restaurant, Izmi Sushi, and Ecco, the gelateria; the beautiful decor in the rooms, the lobby -- and even outside the window; the in-room fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and flat screen tv; the courtesy of the front desk clerk when I checked in. And the price: how is it possible that I got all this for under $100/night? The one and only demerit -- and it may have been a fluke , in which case it's a shame that it happened to a guest who writes reviews -- is the fact that a staff member who was evidently giving a tour let themselves into my room at about 8:00 PM, without knocking. I spoke up from my desk, around the corner from the door, and the staffer retreated with an apology, but the intrusion betrayed the expectation of privacy and security that guests must have while staying at a hotel. I locked the flimsy locks, but can't imagine a female guest would have found her peace of mind restored by doing so. On the assumption that the intrusion was a fluke, I only docked Luxx one star for this serious breach. read more

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. As the other reviewer said, it is very informal -- but in a good way! The place is uniquely decorated, clean, and comfortable. The staff was great -- very accommodating to our arrival and departure schedules (thank you, Philip!) Also, we did not want to rent a car while in Santa Fe, and with this location, we didn't need to. We walked to the capitol and other sight-seeing places, the plaza, galleries, museums, and tons of great little restaurants. There is a shuttle from the Santa Fe airport that takes you right to the front door of the Luxx and will pick you up and take you back to the airport when it is time to leave. I liked the fact that there was a nice, clean kitchen for us to use (I hate room service food because it usually is terrible, so was happy that there was a kitchen for personal use instead), and appreciated the dvd collection to borrow movies. We will definitely stay here again if we are in Santa Fe, and will recommend to family and friends. :) read more

I know the old statistical adage of throw out the high and low and average the rest- so a one star review ought to get me directly into the trash heap, but read on. I should have known something was amiss when upon checking in the hotel staff wanted full payment up front. Then came the "resort fees". Ok, no problem, lets see the amenities. (Pregnant pause)- they exist, but hardly resort quality. The hot tub is a small home unit, located outside, directly across from unit #10's front window. It was 20 degrees out, so I'm not having a soak in winter, but the location of the tub is laughable. Be prepared for an actual cost above what you expect based on online reservation services. Once I finally: A. Found the way into the hotel B. Found the check in counter C. Found a warm body to do the check in, things seemed like they might take a turn. The staff is friendly, although absent for what seems like 18-20 hours of the day. Don't bother calling the four different tele numbers on the signs, some work, some do not. It should not be like calling an ambulance to discuss the heat in the room. Ah, the heat in the room. If I were a reptile I might have enjoyed the fact that the thermostat was clearly not connected to the heater that feed the room I had. All switches to off and the dial at at 50 got me a room that was easily 80+ degrees and about 4% humidity. Great for making beef jerky, horrific if you are a living being. My room had a door to the alley that runs along the side of the Luxx. No fewer than 3 times the first night someone tried to make entry at that door. 2 of them after 1 AM. I'm sure alcohol induced delirium was the cause of the loss of bearings, but for gods sake when the door doesn't open don't try 3x as hard to open it. Whoever it was, was lucky the door wasn't filled with 40 caliber holes and questions asked after the fact. Oh yes- the door. It's not secure. Undo the dead bolt and the keypad locked handle is can be pulled open by a 3 year old. Sorry to who ever it was that got to see me with nothing but briefs on, again, glad the pistol was home. Well how about a shower to try and relax? Since I was sure I had not booked a hotel in Calcutta I expected hot (warm?) water. I got it for about 5 minutes before it went cold, then off entirely. Drip drip drip. 30 minutes later it came back- but I was over it all and pissed. Time to head out. A short walk to the plaza (perhaps the only redeeming feature of Luxx) and I had a great dinner and drinks with friends. Back to the hotel (Hostel? Hovel?) and the heat was oppressive. Can't turn it off, can't open the window into the alley unless I want company all night, so I suffer. What is on Netflix? Well I'll be damned if I know because its doesn't work. Not calling 4 numbers at midnight over this, so to bed to lament my choice of hotel for another night. Maybe some activity will rid me of my malaise- off to the "gym". Well, it's two elliptical things facing a wall, in the "common area" that is a kitchen of sorts. Each has its own little DVD player thing, but not what even a lowly La Quinta has. I start to wonder where my resort fees are going and if, at minimum, they might go towards sorting the basic facilities shortcomings the place has. Ok, time to leave the room to see what else I can do in Santa Fe, lets hop on the wireless and see. Hmm, I can see the base station, password works, but NEIN, no Internet. Seriously- this is like having water in a $200+ a night room, right? I get wifi in a hotel in Marion, Kansas for Pete's sake. Ghastly early 90's Bob Guccione decor aside, the place has potential, it's just too bad none of it is realized. Two hotels are 1 block closer to the plaza, and the same or less in cost with real amenities (on property bar, restaurant, staffed desks, plumbing from the 20th century, you get the picture). I'm not normally one to knock a local private hotel trying to make a go of it, but this place is to be avoided. read more

A great deal for a relatively nice place just off the plaza. Went up to Santa Fe for the day because the balloon fiesta was cancelled due to winds and then decided to stay for the night. Stopped by a few other hotels on the plaza but the rates were more than I wanted to pay. Finally just happened to walk by this place - price was right (and 10% discount if you are from New Mexico) so decided to stay. The hotel of course is not as nice as The Eldorado or La Fonda, but the rooms are actually not bad at all. And very fast free wifi and they also have Netflix. There's also a great coffee shop mostly attached to the hotel so easy to roll out of bed and grab something to drink. (they do have a microwave and refrigerator in the hotel). They had good ideas for parking - but parking is a hassle in the plaza area so if you are staying near the plaza that is just something you're going to have to deal with. My only complaint is that I wish that they had tea along with coffee for the coffee machine in the room. I'll definitely come back. read more

Note: I'm taking the price I paid into consideration with my rating. I found this place last minute, late at night, using Priceline. I paid $59 for a room with a queen bed and when I arrived there was no one around and the gate code to get into the building didn't work when I called them. I had wait 10-15min to get inside and check in, but when I finally did in Alex was extremely friendly and helpful and he upgraded my room to a larger one for the trouble. For $60 you usually get a rat den of a motel room, but this place was awesome! Very well appointed with all the things you'd ever need. It's small and cozy but more than adequate for an overnight stay. The bathrooms where nice and the beds comfy. I think the best part of this place is the location, it's right around the corner from the center of downtown. All that said, had I paid $125 or more I may have given a 3-4 star rating. There's no bell hop service, the back lounge area could use some cleaning, and the lobby being closed at 9pm is pretty unacceptable. But for what I paid, it was friggin perfect!! read more

Home away from home. The Luxx is a fantastic place to stay in Santa Fe. It is localy owned and operated. Upon arival i met the owner, he was friendly and informative. There really is no check in because they check you in online. You dont need a key to the room which i loved because i always loose mine. They sent me an email with a passcode to the front door and to my room. I did not need to waist time talking to anyone. The accomidations are fantastic, private dvd collection, large kitchen in the community area but you dont need it because there are 20 amazing restaurants within .25 miles, hot tub was fantastic, private parking. Dont really know what else to say. I was comfortable, happy, amazed by the new age checkin, and thought the owner was fantastic. I did read the other comments and the ones that were not so great probably did not pay attention to the instructions for check in. There is none. when you make your reservation you recieve an email that again explains the check in process. ITS SELF CHECK IN. You get a code to the doors and you goto your room. I LOVE THAT. The rooms were emaculate. Not dirty at all. I loved this place. One of the best in Santa Fe. read more

Wow what a place. After reading the previous reviews there's not a lot I can add or contradict other than gently chastize the gentleman who evidently left his access code behind and couldn't get in at a late hour. They made it clear, to us at least, that we could use the code to access the facilities on our check in date. The only real negative I can think of regarding our mid week stay was that the check in pace was glacial. But after a wonderful 3 nights there it was a small price to pay for a very unique experience. Highlights were Individually decorated rooms, great 42" hi def TV, free wireless, one extremely comfortable bed, another that was OK, a number of small kitchen appliances in the room, a fully stocked (equiment wise) communal kitchen, goofy-FUN-artwork, lack of a Sante Fe motif!!, fantastic location a block and a half off the plaza, cheap room rates (even with the "resort" fee added), and a kooky fun vibe. A couple of negatives were no room phone (but who really needs one now?), and pretty but dusty cushions on the outdoor furniture and the aforementioned slow check-in (not a biggy, really, but worth mentioning so you'll know what to expect). I don't give 5 star ratings to anything that isn't a world class hotel. It cheapens the ratings to do so. But this hotel is amongst the top of the 4 star hotels I've stayed at in 35 years of heavy travel. To enjoy yer stay and avoid the pitfall that befell late arrival dude, be sure to have yer keyless entry code with you, and, as they ask, be patient with the staff. You want a 5 minute check in, stay at a Best Western, but if you want a roomy, quirky, well located hotel that's a stone's throw from the plaza, give the LUXX serious consideration (and give the staff some love). read more

If walls could talk! Small "boutique" hotel in a great location. Parking available next door for an additional fee. Drop off of luggage is awkward as there is no assigned entrance parking area. Entrance is through a hallway between restaurants. Lobby is nice enough but is not always open to guests. Our room was small and dark. Opening into the bathroom was a very narrow door that I almost had to turn sideways to enter!( and I am not a large person). No windows except in a door that lead outside to a patio area near the hot tub. Biggest problem is the lack of sound installation between rooms and hall. Everything could be heard very easily. Would not be a top choice to stay in Santa Fe unless you could remove your hearing aids and are skinny. read more

I was debating whether to give this hotel a 4 or 5 rating as I have stayed here twice now. The first time I stayed was about a year ago. The oom I thought was too dark, staff not the friendliest. I wouldn't have stayed here again, except I couldn't find another place to stay. Fast forward to my last stay and it was like night and day. Newer owners who are putting customer service as their highest priority. Love all the extras like the all natural aromatherapy shampoo and lotion. They have been painting and I love the uniqueness of the rooms. Not Santa Fe style interiors, but more like contemporary hip? I have to say that this hotel does have one of, if not the best location in Santa Fe. I was able to walk everywhere and my car was securely parked in a covered security lot. ($25 night extra and well worth it.) I also noticed the rates have gone up since my last stay but still less expensive than most in the area and very much worth it. read more

Online reservation was made via my booking portal: www.ccratravel.com on December 24th 12:59 pm. 2. I am the agent making the request for myself and my son. I spoke with reservations same day as the reservation was made. We were assured accommodations would be ready for us upon arrival. Upon arrival, we stopped in at the hotel by 8:30 pm. The front entry way was closed, the lights were out and no one was there to greet us. We phoned the hotel and left our phone number twice. No one returned our call until after 1030 We were not e-mailed nor given by text msg. any keyless entry code, nor was there any evidence of a functional keyless entry on the property at any time prior to our arrival, though in our credit card dispute the clerk claimed to have emailed a keyless entry code, yet when they finally responded to our calls at 10:30 pm, the clerk used two keys just to gain entrance to the foyer & finally the hotel itself, down a long corridor and through a common area. (We returned to "The Luxx" after checking in at the Hilton, to request a credit as the staff was unable to provide the agreed accommodations. 3. It is unreasonable under any circumstance to fail to provide a credit under the circumstances as the electricity was off at the hotel until after 10:00 pm. The customer can not be expected to be responsible for "Acts of God" as the clerk claimed, any more than a proprietor. We returned to "The Luxx " after checking in at the Hilton at 10:00 to explain to the staff, we had to take and pay for different accommodations on Christmas Eve, of all days. There was no Christian sympathy extended even on such a holiday. 4. The proprietor let us in at the front entrance around 10:45 pm and took us to the entry way of the hotel, through another locked door. Even if we had a code, which we did not, we wouldn't have had a key to gain entry at either locked doors. We did not see a "LUXX" hotel operator until 10:45, 6 hours and .45 minutes later than normal check in time at any acceptable hotel. We ask the clerk for credit on our account and were refused. He said the electrical outage was not the hotel's responsibility. The hotel was without electricity. It is unsafe to stay or attempt to stay in accommodations without heat or electricity in mid-winter. As a client and as a travel agent, I assure you, any other respectable proprietor would have immediately credited our card for this absolute late night inconvenience. The hostility we experienced once our request was denied was very abusive. We were asked to leave the premises and our stay was prohibited. The staff failed to provide services as promised. We were very disappointed at not having been responded to, so late in the evening. This event gave us a very negative perception of Santa Fe. We left the next morning as the experience was so negative, we did not want to stay another night. Though the proprietor/clerk may have been stressed out over the lack of electricity to his establishment it was very unfair to expect the guest to be the brunt of all their frustrations. Adding insult to injury when we filed a dispute with our credit card company, Luxx staff stated we "left the hotel without saying anything." Au contraire! The hotelier created a flagrant hostile environment which is totally unacceptable. I would never send a guest to "The Luxx" and would be hesitant to send my clients to Sante Fe, if this is any evidence of how tourists and travelers are treated during Christmas or any other time. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff and the incredible location. We were traveling with our 2 elderly dogs for the first time and everyone was so sweet to them. Very reasonable pet fee. The place is quirky but the room was large and comfortable. The small restaurant out front did have the best bagels and scones! We will visit the Luxx again. read more

Terrible hotel staff...I ended up with unauthorized charges to my bank, which ended up being resolved since this place was in the wrong. When the 4 of us adults checked in, they gave us a 2 bedroom suite with 1 queen and 2 twin beds. I have reserved 2 queen beds. After complaining, they gave us the correct room and sneakily charged another $80!!!!!! WithOUT telling me. read more

The best thing about this hotel is the location! Less than 2 blocks from the square! The room was nice but not overly impressive. The lobby had a nespresso machine with a wide variety of pods. Also organic fruit and pastries in the morning. I think there is only 1 person who works in the hotel (besides cleaning crew)- had to wait several times to talk to someone. Other than slow service, I would stay here again. Also, it's a bonus that there is a coffee shop and a sushi place right next to it. read more

Would give a 3.5. They had just changed parking arrangements when we were there and it was free but very cumbersome, so much so that on the last day we paid for meters. The rooms are nice and clean. They are upfront about a 25 dollar resort fee, but this is no resort just a boutique hotel. Despite the fee it is still reasonably priced and in a great location. If they fix up the parking I would consider utilizing again. read more

This hotel was a disappointment from the second we drove up! You pay the hotel overpriced rate then they tack on a $20 parking fee. The hotel was loud and and not comfortable at all. They try to be a boutique hotel but really it's just cheap finishes and poor quality linens with very few guest services. We will never stay here again and can not in good conscious recommend the Luxx to anyone ! read more

We booked online and had a late checkin. The protocol was easy to get in to the building and our room. The decor is fun with an artistic, custom, eclectic, one of a kind feel. The room was so comfortable, with aromatic products for the bath. Everything was very relaxed and charming. There is metered parking out front or a parking lot next door for 20 dollars. The location is perfect for walking around downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. The owner and concierge were very kind and helpful. Will definitely plan to stay here again. read more

This hotel is a hidden gem right in the middle of downtown Santa Fe. We've been visiting Santa Fe for years and have stayed at several other hotels, but the Luxx is the best bang for the buck that we've found. The staff was extremely attentive to all our needs. Especially Louie. We booked our stay at Luxx just because he was so helpful when we called to ask some questions. Then he was even friendlier during our stay. Some things that are important to us that really stood out: Parking. It's a spacious, self serve, gated garage right next door to the hotel. Very convenient and the best parking situation of any hotel we've visited in Santa Fe. The bed was fantastic and super cozy. And best of all we didn't notice any outside noise. Some hotels near the plaza offer a mandatory wake-up call from the garbage trucks every morning, but the Luxx was very quiet. Great location. It's a short walk to the Plaza and less than a mile to to the farmer's market. Fast free wifi as well. Thank you Luxx for an awesome stay. We'll see you next time! read more

From the nicest gentleman greeting you at the front desk to the vibrant scent of lavender in their house shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided in the rooms, you just can't go wrong staying at this hotel. read more

Very friendly staff. Pleasant area to stroll around. The hotel leaves something to be desired though. Odd room with double beds in one room and a king in another. TV wouldn't work so we just ignored that. Coffee maker in main room of hotel wouldn't work we went out and found something to eat. Shower was trying to be cool but fell short. It would have been nice to know there was no parking lot and we had to use the parking garage next door and we had to pay extra for that. But, again, staff were great. And that sort of made up for what was lacking in the hotel. read more
