We had ice packs with us in a cooler that needed freezing. The staff were gracious enough to put them in their freezer for us. The grounds were lovely. Walking distance to so many places. Really, my only complaint was the firmness, or lack there of, of the mattress. I sat on the edge and actually slipped onto the floor because it was so soft. Even my husband who can sleep on anything said it was too soft. Love this place and I'd def come back again.

Mine included my room, a kitchenette, as well as a living room. There is also a nice outdoor area where you can sit and relax, as well as a nice bench that was outside of my doorway. It was very quiet and peaceful here, I loved watching the sunset. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I would note that this is not a bed and breakfast despite the name that is in the title. No breakfast is served, other than tea/coffee and small snacks.

The staff were also incredibly friendly and personable, which made the stay even better. It's clear they take pride in the property and making guests feel welcome. First thing I loved was the location. It's close to plenty of restaurants and shopping on its own, but even better, it is less than half a mile from the roadrunner train station. In fact, you still have an honest to god metal key to get into your room, no cards here! The room was comfortable and large enough for me staying alone. A couple would also be pretty set in here. The bed was comfortable and had more than enough pillows and blankets for anyone. The bathroom was well stocked with towels, TP, and stuff you need to get cleaned up. There was even a rubber ducky if you wanted a bath instead. The toilet and shower are separate from the large vanity area. Even though it is a tub shower and relatively short ceilings, I was able to shower comfortably even being above 6 feet tall. It was all clean, even though its been around a long time. It all felt very homey. Quiet at night, and there's a convenience store walkable for snacks. Breakfast each day is light, coffee/tea, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, cereal, protein and granola bars which you can take a couple with you for your day ahead if you like. I enjoyed a coffee with fruit and cereal by the wood burning adobo fireplace each morning. This was a great spot to stay. I would recommend it to anyone.

We were still in the early stages of getting to know each other and basking in such beautiful and lively surroundings, I learned some new things about him (one can't help but express themselves openly while visiting Suitable Digs). The interest and the pleasure he took in retro, vintage style items was new to me--and only enhanced by our getting to stay in the unique classic, the Spartan. We were already excited by the incredible vegetable and fruit gardens growing in this desert Eden, alongside the various and fascinating water catchment, solar and other energy-conserving systems. So much to see and take in! But when we stepped into the Spartan for the first time, wow...he came alive in a new and different way than I had seen before. His eyes gleamed with wonder, like a little boy on the first eve of Chanukah. The trailer was adorned in time period style, authentic in its original form with all the little extras that Lisa had taken the time and painstaking effort to locate and attach, no distance too far or too wide, no fixture unaccounted for. My beau settled in on the couch to read, out loud, several pages of Red Sky at Morning, a 1968 novel by Richard Bradford that takes place in New Mexico. I listened to him laugh and reminisce all over again, as he had when he first read it years ago. That evening, we sat in chairs on the patio outside the Spartan, gazing at the bright moonlit sky and feeling dreamy about where we had landed together. I recall the moonlight as it shone into the Spartan and landed on soft pillows, just as the warm morning sunlight welcomed itself into our cozy abode to gently awaken us the next day. Being at Suitable Digs for the 21st time was just as familiar as ever...and at the same time, it was as unexpected and fresh as traveling to a completely unfamiliar and exotic destination for the first time. The innovative air that always exists there, remains.

Easy drive from downtown (yet far enough for a refreshing & secluded feel) and delicious restaurants--just ask Lisa for some recommendations. She was very helpful in offering suggestions to explore the culture, food, and geography of Santa Fe. Overall: overwhelming comfort met eye-opening learnings in sustainability, along with a truly wonderful and inspiring host.

It was a last-minute decision so we were looking for a hotel that was pet friendly and reasonably priced. After reading the Reddit forums everyone said stay away from Albuquerque and any hotel that is near the freeway there. Well, shit, every single hotel is on the freeway. ...And that ladies and gentlemen is how we landed in Santa Fe. After reading the reviews in Santa Fe, we decided to stay at the Mystic because it sounded safe and breakfast was included. Also, the pet fee was fairly reasonable at $25 for the stay and $30 for a one time cleaning. Upon driving onto the property, you are met with paved gravel, ample parking, and rooms accessible only through the gate. What's cute about this motel (and most motels) is that you can drive up and park in front of your hotel room. This was no different. The standard room is tiny, but for 2 travelers met all of our needs. King size bed, bath and shower, mini fridge, and cable. The bed itself was comfy, but the pillows could really use a bit of an upgrade. It felt like a bunch of cotton balls, all in a pillowcase, and it was very difficult to sleep on. For the price of the hotel when we saw the continental breakfast, we were stunned! Bacon, seasoned potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, waffles, coffee, and juice. Incredible! They have an event venue in the back, which I've read hosts live music. If you're looking for a quick, overnight stay that is reasonably priced, this would be it. The remodel that was done is super cute and matches the theme of the hotel name.

The only protein options the first morning were undercooked bacon and yogurt, and the strawberries were very acidic. The second morning did include breakfast burritos, but they weren't labeled and were in limited supply, so we chose to go out for breakfast instead. There were some fun elements, like karaoke and live music, which added to the experience. However, Saturday night there was a party that went on until a little after midnight. It could be heard throughout the property despite the stated quiet hours of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and we weren't notified in advance. The event was also open to people outside the motel, which led to many non-guests parking in the main lot, which is limited, and hotel guests having to use overflow parking. Overall, it's a lovely and unique place to stay, but it didn't fully meet expectations particularly with breakfast and guest-focused amenities. I'd recommend prioritizing parking for motel guests and setting clearer expectations around events so guest can plan ahead.

I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon Casa Escondida's elopement packages through some late night googling. Ernesto helped to plan the perfect celebration for us and our 3 guests. I especially appreciated how open and considerate Ernesto was of us as a queer couple in the planning of the event. He didn't make any assumptions when it came to pronouns, flowers, or the names we would call each other as a married couple. He made sure to ask first which was so thoughtful and made us feel even more at ease and sure of our choice. It really was the most magical day and that is a huge thanks to Ernesto and his staff!

My friend took the queen bed in the main room while I slept on the comfortable day bed in the sitting room. Our room also had a kitchen area which we used to make some nighttime tea. In the morning we enjoyed breakfast in the main building. Coffee, juice, fruit bowl, and southwest quiche. It is no wonder Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast is often rated the number one bed and breakfast in Northern New Mexico. Personally, my only 'complaint' was we called in advance to ensure we could be on property early AND that there was reliable wifi as my friend needed to log on Zoom for tutoring. Unfortunately, the wifi was not reliable at all and Zooming was not a possibility. Hopefully it has since been resolved. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay in the Chimayo area, I recommend Casa Escondida!

We just came home from spending 5 relaxing nights at the El Rey Court in Santa Fe, NM…read more Being new to the Santa Fe area we explored its stunning Loretta Chapel, the historic Santa Fe Plaza and the Santa Fe Railroad Mexican restaurants. My favorite spot during our whole trip was returning to the El Rey Court every night. It is an escape in itself. The La Reina and its La Reina Mesita has the best Margaritas and food, which we enjoyed every night. The rooms are stunning and the outside lounge areas are filled with trees and cozy spots. The front desk and all staff were exceptional. We highly recommend the El Rey Court.

He could not understand why they didn't unload their truck and then move out of the way. The worst part was they blocked them overnight AND all weekend when no one was working. I thought he would lose his mind. I loved the local art throughout the hotel and enjoyed the overall vibe. The free shuttle is very convenient and reliable and we definitely took advantage of that because parking in town is not the easiest. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
