Me and hubby are happy we stopped by randomly after dim sum. The staff were very kind and polite. One of them even offered a towel for my daughter to be comfortable while she waited for me. They offered us a bottle of water after the massage. They timed our massages as well and confirmed our massage time in advance. Very professional. I asked them where this was stated & they seemed to not understand what I was saying but continued to tell me that I was not to leave until I paid them $20. Had to ring the door bell and wait for her to unlock her door (about 2pm on a Monday). She was nice. I wanted 60 mins and she kept saying 30min. Ok, we will go with that. She had me recline on the chair, pulled out the Vaseline, she put on rubber gloves and actually gave me a good foot massage. She didn't talk to me at all. Turned on the tv to an interesting possibly Korean soap opera. I was intrigued. After I pulled out her tip, $15, she did a great job, she kind of perked up and was actually polite and asked if I wanted water and gave me her business card. She looked like she had a rough day. I went here in shoulder pain distress after a short flight into Philly. The decor is not up to date but the rooms ad linens were clean (I am stickler for this) and the place smelled nice. When we arrived for our appointment, we were told "cash only" & pointed to an ATM up the street. When we returned from the ATM, we were told we had to pay first, which I did. The massages were good. Afterwards, I went to tip & was told I needed to tip them $20 each because the $120 I'd already paid for the massages went to "the boss" & they only got to keep the tip. They had to use a translation app for communication due to language barrier. I've been here more times than I can count and have always just walked in (and never had to wait more than 15-20 min.). Every therapist I've had has been incredibly skilled and I always walk out feeling so relaxed I could fall over. This is not the place to go if you're looking for a luxurious spa experience, but if you want a great massage without having to plan ahead or spend over $100 for an hour (it's only $50 here), then this is your place. This place is so icky, rude, and shady. They didn't change the mat on the table, the masseuse sneezed into his hands during the massage and didn't was his hands. Also they cut my massage short by 15 min and wanted Payment for the full massage plus a mandatory 20%tip that they told me after the fact. Oh, and they change another 6$ to use a credit card! I went in for a massage, there wasn't a fresh sheet on the table. That should have been my first sign. The massage started and it was going ok. I told the masseuse the area I wanted worked on and he kind of worked on it, but not really. During the massage he sneezed into his hands twice and continued to massage me like nothing happened. Wash your hands!!!! 75 min into the 90 min massage, he informed me it was time, and then proceeded to charge for the full 90 min. I figured I wouldn't make a stink of it at that time because I just wanted to get the hell out of there. When I went to pay, he said that there was a mandatory 20% tip. I told him he didn't do the full 90 min and didn't work on the area I repeatedly requested and that that this was shady. He called me cheap and it devolved from there. There are plenty of great massage places in the city- healing arts collective and balance chiropractic for example- I'll be avoiding this place, and recommend you do the same. read more

Holy cow this place is amazing! So after shopping at Ikea with a stiff neck, I decided enough was enough- I need to find a small massage joint to have the kinks in my neck worked out. The place did seem a bit shady when I first walked in but I can assure you, it's not. I asked for 30 mins and (before tip) paid $30. Worth every penny!!!!! I got the best massage of my life at this place. My husband & I went on a whim after my orthopedist suggested some deep tissue work. It was 6:30 on a Thursday with no appointment, so it had to be a spot in Chinatown. I've been strolling by this place for years with some curiosity, so we figured we may as well check it out. There are a million and one aches and pains that make me not want to get out of bed in the morning. This morning they're gone. It's amazing. I do hot yoga on the reg, smoke some dank Indicas & take the occasional muscle relaxer & I'm still stiff as f*ck. It's unpleasant. My psoas & hips are tight, I have a knot in my left shoulder that's been messing up my game for over 10 years. I feel amaze after an hour in this place. It might be the best $50 I've ever spent. Yeah, that's no typo- $50 for an hour of bliss- WTF are you waiting for? I suppose I should mention some necessary details. Don't go here if your pampered & precious & made of glass. This place is straight Asia style. It's not some "serenity now" environment. The walls are paper... literally. So you can hear dude next to you. But whatevs, it Thailand they lay you out on the floor like a row of corpses. Deal with it. There are no whale sounds or waves crashing or bells & incense. Family run type of establishment (don't worry about walking in and interrupting the TV watching over tea in the front of the store). The massage beds are clean (or at least they look that way covered in white towels) and Zhen Zhen, my massage therapist, did a good job. So I went here based on the reviews on Yelp expecting bare minimum. When I got there it was better than I expected. Like others said, don't expect an elegant spa experience. It was clean enough, very thin walls if any, and the staff talked among themselves even during your services. And I definitely heard the TV going LOL. But nonetheless, as soon as I walked in I was greeted and serviced. Granted it was empty ;). I went during my lunch break. My service was by a woman she never gave her name, I didn't ask either. I tried to explain to her what I wanted but I could tell she couldn't respond back. Communication barrier. I wanted deep tissue on back and neck only. She did just that. She was very strong and got most the lumps in my back area and but very little attention on my neck. She gave a quick hot stone massage at the end and offered water when done. When I was finish and attempting to pay, I tried to talk to her about my back and what other massages would help me or what she thought and how often I should come back but she couldn't understand anything I was saying. She just looked at me in a blank stare. When it was time to pay she informed me of a $2.50 service charge for credit?! WHY and WHO does that anymore?! So while I was seeing if I had enough cash in my wallet, she quickly reminded me that with a $30 service its usually a $6 tip?! Ooooh so now you understand and communicate.... Excuse me Ms., I know what 20% is on a service. You don't have to tell me as I'm paying, how much I need to spend on a tip that's considered optional. That is up to customer to decide depending on the quality of services. I thought that was quite rude actually and I taking back. I ended up paying the surcharge and leaving her a $5 tip bc of the comment and small lack of customer service/communication. I thought about not leaving a tip at all or $3.50 and they can cover the rest with the surcharge LOL. But she did work hard and did an okay job, I couldn't do it. I just finished off running a half marathon yesterday and today, my body told me that loud and clear. ....The massage was very deep and painful but a good thing in this case. I definitely felt I got my hours worth of massage. I give it 4 stars because I had to deal w/ the tv noise in the background.
