I was in the beginning stretch of a cross country rode trip when my car started acting funny and the check engine light had turned on. I pulled off the highway and stopped immediately at the first mechanic I could find. They ran the computer to find out that it was the catalytic converter BUT I knew enough to know that just the computer test is not a definite. They guy at the first place I stopped was super pushy (told me I had to make the decision now or they wouldn't get the part), quoted me at over 800 dollars and the other mechanics there were all talking rudely to each other and didn't seem to care about each other or their customers. I got an extremely bad vibe so I looked up a couple places and found Hillside Service center. I called them up and he eased my mind immediately! He asked if they had done a smoke test or a pressure test to make sure it was the catalytic converter and they had not. He asked me if I could make it to him and he would check all of that for me. I am so happy I trusted my gut and found Hillside Service center! It did turn out to be the catalytic converter, unfortunately, but he quoted me at a much more reasonable price and he replaced my spark plugs for free. The whole process + labor time took less than a couple hours and I was back on the road heading to California. At the time, I was scared being alone on a road trip and upset about how much this all was costing. With my nerves all over the place, I found myself crying in the parking lot while trying to figure out funds to afford the work. And I cannot express how grateful I was for the father and son at hillside service center. They made me feel as much at ease as was possible in that moment. He could probably tell I was flustered so while his son worked on the car he made an effort to to have a nice conversation with me. His overt friendliness did not go unnoticed! These two men are extremely honest, hardworking mechanics and I could tell the second he picked up the phone for me. The waiting room was clean and accommodating. The way they interact with each other and their customers shows that they put love and respect into their work and their business. I will probably never find myself in Lock Haven, PA or at Hillside again but I'm so grateful that I did that day. Thank you!!

My car started failing and I stopped by the shop. Brian plugged my car into the diagnostic machine but my car was not providing any readings. Instead of suggesting that I change different parts to try to fix the problem, they sent me off saying that they couldn't in all fairness help me. I wound up going to the Nissan dealer who was able to resolve my problem. The honesty, integrity, and friendliness offered by this business was amazing. I wish I lived closer to have them be my regular mechanics.

I did not have any work done there, but Bob was still happy to check whether a part that was ordered for my car was the correct one. His shop is an oversize garage which may have grown out of a hobby labor of love. He's been in business since 1986 and his business card says "where honesty and integrity are first". The yard in front of the shop was littered with classic beetles, Audis, Porsches and a guy inside was working on mod-ing his A4 with S4 and RS4 parts. If you're looking for a shiny waiting room, this isn't the auto shop to go to, but, of the three places I went today looking to get an answer for my Audi brake question, he was the nicest to deal with and most easy going. The only problem with the shop is that it's not open on weekends (in Bob's words "emergencies only"). So, if you're available on weekdays, drive an Audi (or any other car for that matter, the business card says both foreign and domestic repair) and are looking for a shop with a passion for the vehicles they work on, check out Fink's.

This is a car that our son has at college, and we originally bought it new when he was born, so we are hoping it gets him through his remaining years of school. Ted got the job done quickly with no hassle and its back on the road. Ted had done a transmission for us about 12 years ago on an old truck and we had good service and no follow up issues with the truck. Highly recommend.

They've always been really fair to us. We've used them for years. They don't offer loaners but they don't hang on to your car longer than they hv to. They do take credit cards but pass along the surcharge to your bill. They also accept checks. I still use them because they don't repair things that aren't broken. Sometimes they're able to patch something instead of making me buy a new one. At the end of the day, I don't feel taken advantage of which is a big deal when choosing a mechanic.
