I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here every year for their Wine Craze Corn Maze…read moreevent, and it never disappoints. The farm is huge, beautifully kept, and has so much to do -- it's the perfect spot for a fall day with family or friends. From hayrides and putt-putt to the giant corn maze, pumpkins, farm animals, and playgrounds, there's truly something for everyone. They also have a charming country store filled with seasonal goodies, local products, and fall décor, plus plenty of food and drink stands to enjoy while you explore. You can really feel that it's a family-run farm -- the staff is always so friendly, welcoming, and eager to make your visit a great one. Van Buren Acres has become one of my favorite fall traditions, and I can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a fun, festive, and wholesome autumn outing!

Staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back someday. Barely half an hour from central Columbus. K did not want to leave.

What do I have to say about this farm to make you pay a visit!? This was a truly a one-of-a-kind…read moreexperience and worth the price of admission. When I emailed Julie, the owner, to pick a date and time I didn't realize what my boyfriend and I were in for; we tried to go a few weeks prior, but it's by appt only. He and I essentially got the farm to ourselves-- we each got to walk an alpaca, hold and bottle-feed the babies, hang out with the larger group of alpacas (there are a 100 total here), talk to Julie more in depth (who is so sweet and knowledgeable), and visit the store. We came on a perfectly sunny and warm-ish day, which allowed for the alpacas to be super social. We spent 2 hours at the farm and came home with so many memories of our morning there, along with great photos!

On a lovely, temperate Saturday afternoon my girlfriend and I visited Road Runner Rascals alpaca…read morefarm, having made a reservation a couple of weeks earlier. The cost was $25 per person, and we figured that it would simply involve getting a few photo ops with alpacas, and perhaps getting up close and personal with a few to scratch their furry necks etc. Little did we know that the ranch runner, Julie Judge, was offering up a full experience! Road Runner Rascals has around 100 alpacas overall, and when we arrived we realized that it would truly just be the two of us interacting with the alpacas -- no other groups of people. Julie introduced us to the alpacas, then proceeded to halter a couple of them (named Savoy and Plum Crazy) for us to walk around the pasture. I didn't have "walking an alpaca" on my bingo card for life, and yet that's exactly what we did. The alpacas were very docile, and happily let themselves be led on a long walk through a sprawling, hilly pasture. They make the most adorable noises, and have definite personalities -- we could tell when they wanted to go certain places, and their curiosity was also very obvious. After walking them for at least half an hour, we brought them back to the stable...where Julie was warming up milk for us to bottle-feed a ten-day old alpaca! I don't know why, but the feeling of feeding warm milk out of a pop bottle to a baby alpaca is just something you have to experience for yourself. Afterwards, Julie opened up the back paddock and a veritable herd of alpacas came wandering out, surrounding my parked car, then walking up to us to be petted, some lying down, some rolling around in the grass, and generally just doing what alpacas do. Funnily enough, this wasn't our first alpaca experience, having visited another alpaca farm a few years ago, but what Julie offers at Road Runner Rascals is truly next level. It's also heartening to know that she has donated alpacas to a nearby autism center, and also has some connections with OSU and other local businesses. All told, my girlfriend and I have had a lot of great days this year, but this is easily one of the best. We made a point of buying a few things from the gift shop as well, but the real takeaway is the memorable experience itself, and it's one not to be missed by any animal lover in the region!

This is an awesome place to go pumpkin picking in the fall or even have a birthday party or special…read moreevent! The farm is absolutely gorgeous and there are plenty of family friendly activities. The admission to the farm is free and prices for activities are extra but are all very reasonable. The hayride was only $3 a person and we got two huge pumpkins, several gourds, and some fudge for only $26. They have a small concession area as well and you can even purchase hot dogs to roast yourselves by the campfire. While I don't eat hotdogs it looked fun! We did try the kettle corn and a cinnamon toffee cookie and they were both delicious. There are also baby goats, a gift shop, and tons of super cute photo opportunities. Also the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend!

It was a bit out of the way being in Galena but I'm happy to say it was totally worth the trip. I pulled into the farm to find flaggers there directing traffic towards two large lawns. We got there really close to opening, about 11:30 or so. It was already starting to fill up but it wasn't bad at all. The kiddos jumped out of the car and we headed straight for the wheel barrels so we could start picking out pumpkins. While they had a hay ride, and I think a few other kid activities we steered clear because of COVID. I also stopped in to ask about how things work and I was shocked to hear .49 per pound, which is much lower than others. This young lady was also the most friendly person in the world! Brought a smile to my face. The pumpkins weren't out in a field but we loved the large selection to choose from. They clearly pulled the best pumpkins they had because they were all awesome. From giant carving pumpkins, to funky ones, mini ones, and of course all the fun squash, they had it all. The back side of the barn is where you enter to get your pumpkins weighed and tallied all up. The friendliness continued and we loved browsing their goods. Fun decor, yummy canned food items, and then some! We got three large pumpkins, two small ones, and a couple squash and it all came out to roughly $30. I would absolutely visit them again. They open up after Memorial Day for the next season and I definitely plan to be back to see what they have then. Highly recommended!

This orchard is 30+ mins from my place but my parents were in town so I decided it was a good excuse to show them a bit of Ohio on the way. The place looks tiny from the parking lot but it goes back for acres. The lady in the small produce market was very friendly and gave us directions to the apples that were ready to be picked, handed us a few bags, and we were on our way. I wish i knew that we could had driven back there since all we heard was 'it's a lovely walk.' It was a LONG but very nice walk. We passed a pear orchard, a nice small lake and a couple orchards before walking up a large hill to the far orchard where the corn and apples were waiting to be picked. Each bag she gave us was half a bushel and each (filled) is $10. If you dont fill a bag then it goes per pound. We got 2 bags of gala and cortland, and some pumpkin butter, and jams, and etc. This place has lots of stuff, not so cheap but worth it kind of stuff. $5.25 for a jar of blueberry jellies. We'll be back here for the many other fruits they have 'pick your own' for. The corn is also pick your own. They make their own products in the store too. I did not, however, see any cider. I have may been too early for that this year. I went very early in Sept. I have told friends about this place and all have loved it. It has the real family owned orchard feel and not the large scale agra buis feel which is what we were looking for. I'll be back for sure.
