This is an awesome place to go pumpkin picking in the fall or even have a birthday party or special event! The farm is absolutely gorgeous and there are plenty of family friendly activities. The admission to the farm is free and prices for activities are extra but are all very reasonable. The hayride was only $3 a person and we got two huge pumpkins, several gourds, and some fudge for only $26. They have a small concession area as well and you can even purchase hot dogs to roast yourselves by the campfire. While I don't eat hotdogs it looked fun! We did try the kettle corn and a cinnamon toffee cookie and they were both delicious. There are also baby goats, a gift shop, and tons of super cute photo opportunities. I promised my niece and nephew that I would take them to a pumpkin patch over the weekend and after browsing Yelp, I discovered Freeman's Farms. It was a bit out of the way being in Galena but I'm happy to say it was totally worth the trip. I pulled into the farm to find flaggers there directing traffic towards two large lawns. We got there really close to opening, about 11:30 or so. It was already starting to fill up but it wasn't bad at all. The kiddos jumped out of the car and we headed straight for the wheel barrels so we could start picking out pumpkins. While they had a hay ride, and I think a few other kid activities we steered clear because of COVID. I also stopped in to ask about how things work and I was shocked to hear .49 per pound, which is much lower than others. This young lady was also the most friendly person in the world! Brought a smile to my face. The pumpkins weren't out in a field but we loved the large selection to choose from. They clearly pulled the best pumpkins they had because they were all awesome. From giant carving pumpkins, to funky ones, mini ones, and of course all the fun squash, they had it all. The back side of the barn is where you enter to get your pumpkins weighed and tallied all up. The friendliness continued and we loved browsing their goods. Fun decor, yummy canned food items, and then some! We got three large pumpkins, two small ones, and a couple squash and it all came out to roughly $30. I would absolutely visit them again. We go to this farm every year. The admission is free but you do have to pay for activities. It's a small farm but has few good activates for everyone to engage in. You can go on the hay ride for $3 per person, children under 2 are free. You get to see the whole property of freeman farm. There is a small petting zoo, where you can feed baby pigs, goats, and calf. There is a food stand in the back of the farm where you can purchase food and also cook on open fire. You can also purchase fresh popcorn, which was really good. You can buy pumpkins by the pound or for a fixed rate. They had variety of pumpkins. This is a good place to come to pick pumpkins. It's located in Galena, off of Sunbury road. It's a small farm, so not many activities to do like places such as Leeds Farm and Lynd's Fruit Farm, but good for coming to get a pumpkin. They are priced per pound (.45 cents in October 2022). There are wagons but you'll have to wait until people who are loading their pumpkins into their cars bring them back after unloading. You pick out your pumpkins and go inside the market and weigh them, and then pay. Inside the market you can also get tickets for the activities. We only did the hayride ($3 per person) and got some kettle corn, which, I don't really like kettle corn but it was really good! It was only a 25 minute drive from us (Gahanna) so, definitely worth the trip. read more

Freeman's Farm just opened their Fall festivities on the weekends Starting September 26 - October 27. We went on Saturday afternoon, and admission is free. You do have to pay for activities such as the hayride, which is $3 per person, but children under 2 are free. They only accept cash at the outside stands, but you can purchase tickets for cash value inside with a credit card to use at any of their outside stations. They have an excellent selection of pumpkins, priced at $.39 a lb., which you take to the weigh station inside to be ticketed. They sell popcorn, and there is a food truck down the little path where you can grill your own hot dog over the open fire for $2.00. There is a small petting zoo with baby potbelly pigs, goats and a baby calf! You can purchase food for them from the machine outside their pens. They were so cute! The hay ride was great, and I felt a good value, as they take you for a ride over the entire property. There are several props for pictures, like, "How Tall this Fall" and some funny character ones, too. This is definitely an easy stop to get your obligatory Pumpkin Patch visit in for Pumpkin Spice season, lol. Freeman Farms has been around a while, and even though they don't have the full market open anymore, they do have a smaller one open through the week during the fall festivities. Cool fall farm to visit with plenty of pumpkins to choose from and lots of activities. We stopped by on a Sunday and it was PACKED. People were everywhere. The line for converting credit cards into tickets was long, the line to check out and weigh your pumpkins was long. It was a madhouse. Nonetheless, it was a good time and I just said hey we don't have anywhere else to be let's just enjoy it. It helps that we seemed to dodge some of the lines for things while people were doing other activities and based what we did next on what had the shortest line. They take cards at the market/pumpkin checkout counter but to buy food, take a hay ride, buy kettle corn, they only take cash or you have to wait in a line to buy tickets with your credit card. This was probably the longest line we waited in all day. Everything was pretty reasonably priced but the website just says call for pricing. Not wanting to bother anyone and hassle with it, we looked on yelp to see what others had said or if anyone had found pricing which they did so that was super helpful (hey, gotta hunt for the deals with these types of things!). They had a hay ride which actually went around a lot more than where I thought it would go and was worth the $3. The pumpkins were 39 cents per pound which adds up because of course I had to get the most monstrous pumpkin I could find :) I loved that the concessions had hot dogs you can roast on their open bonfire, that was pretty neat! The kettle corn is very good! Although I wish they had a size bag between small and medium. Small wasn't enough to share and medium we will be working through for the next week. The market was your typical fall market but I felt like because of the pumpkin weighing line, we didn't have much time to look around in the market once we had picked out our pumpkins. Oh! the pumpkins. They were just kind of set outside the barn in an area just kinda stacked next to each other so not really a pumpkin patch but they did have a nice variety of pumpkin sizes. But with as many people as they had there, it got a bit crowded and all the pumpkin buckets to carry your pumpkins to the weighing station were all taken which made for holding my giant pumpkin as we stood in line. Having the prices displayed online, more spots accepting credit cards, and moving the pumpkin weighing away from the market would have made this a little more seamless of a trip but we had fun regardless and the prices were pretty good! read more

First of all, I have to admit that I'm fairly shocked but highly honored to be the first to review Freeman's. There's so much I love about this place that I don't even know where to begin. I'll start with the basics: the year-round country market. High quality meat and cheese, fresh and locally grown produce, and delicious baked goods are just a few of the highlights here. Sure, you might pay a slight premium compared to grocery stores for the deli items but it is entirely worth it, I promise. As far as the baked goods, do NOT miss out on the pumpkin cookies. The cookie is soft and smothered in pumpkin icing; it's the perfect autumn treat! Now for the really fun part: Fall Festival. Need some pumpkins for your front porch? You can find them here. In the mood for a hayride? You can do that here. Your city slicker kids are having an urge to pet some farm animals? They can find them here. I'm sure you get the gist, pretty much anything fall-related can be found at Freeman's (did I mention cooking hot dogs over a campfire or the apple butter making demonstration?!). Oh, and you definitely shouldn't pass by my favorite part, the GIANT bag of fresh popped kettle corn! It's never "officially" fall until I've made a Freeman's trip and had kettle corn. The festival only lasts 5 weekends from the end of September until the end of October so don't miss your chance to check it out! Freeman's is a nice pumpkin farm in the northern suburban part of the Columbus area. The activities are pretty unfulfilling but they do have a petting zoo, a great farm market, and you can grill dogs with the kids. Be sure to buy a few of the "Keeper of the Light" candles ... They'll fill your home with amazing fall, winter, holiday, and anytime fragrance. We moved here from the Eastern suburbs of Cincinnati where there are AMAZING pumpkin farms. Of the pumpkin farms we've been to up here there are some great mazes, good activities, good food and farm markets but none of them had it all. read more

Did a Yelp search for "pumpkins" and landed here. We are now true Westerville-ians after our visit here. We came to get pumpkins and do a little photo-op of the little one. During the fall season, there are small bags of Kettle Corn for only $1. A hayride that the little one and the Puppa (grandfather) enjoyed while munching on said Kettle corn. Also loved the petting zoo, with 2 goats, a donkey and a cow. Couldn't have been happier with some decorative swag for 9.99 (similar to what Pottery Barn would charge 50+). Also picked up some large green and white gourds and a green pumpkin for my fall scape---Channeling Martha Stewart Living! My daughter and I have gone the last 2 years and plan on going back this year. We love shopping inside for all the homemade foods, jams, candy, etc. They also have excellent meats and cheeses as well. The drive out there is beautiful and it feels like your out in the country. :) read more
