My mother was treated rudely by a nurse who was releasing her from the 2 second floor ward. LBJ earns it's bad repetition. Beware: This facility has engaged in abusive and fraudulent activity concerning healthcare. They have been reported to the FTC and Gov. Abbott. My condition was worsened by the PA marauding as a doctor. There were no vitals taken or tests run save the UA that I had to beg for. They lied about the results of the UA which indicated that I had infection. I was discharged and pushed out without anything but dehumanization. Patient relations did nothing to correct the situation. Then, they sent me a bill for my traumatic experience. It contained the name of a person said to be my doctor whom I never saw and had no idea about. That's when I saw that the person lying about being my doctor was a mere PA. Horrible service, I came in cause I had foot surgery Thursday and was in horrible pain, one the parking for patients is a mile walk, just to get to the ER area. I told them over and over, I have foot pain and they have me walking around from one building to the next to just see someone. Very cold and unfriendly staff, I rather go to Ben Taub and deal with the horrible parking then come here again. Why be open to offer care if the first rule of a hospital to make the patient feel comfortable, not to make them walk around the whole building while have foot pain. read more

The lobby is disgusting. There's not a lot of privacy during triage. The nurses are rude but the patients in the area are also rude. Overall very disorganized process. There is no reason a patient should be waiting 10hrs before getting seen. The triage process needs to be fixed or at least explained to the patients so you don't have a bunch of hostile people in the lobby. At least have an employee check in periodically to acknowledge the patients and let them know they haven't been forgotten. read more

Oh boy! So I was dismissed from a flight I paid 2200 for as a "fall risk" because I was on crutches i was advised to go here for a follow up. Drove up there got fluids and vitamins. Seems I was dehydrated and vitamin deficient. I thought to advise my family my whereabouts and asked the lady at the desk when I could estimate being released. She reacted like I had come at her like a drugged out lunatic and never answered my question only advised me that I'd have to "take duh shot" if I wanted released. After submitting to this I was released. Not from the front door but the side where a cop told me he wouldn't allow me to drive. His friend then began robbing me. I looked to the cop and asked if he was going to to do anything he did the equivalent of idlely whistling while avoiding eye contact. HE was on the take. Once the man was done robbing me the cop advised me that he'd give me a ride home in my own car. Thorazine will make you comply with just about anything. He dropped me in 5th ward at night and drove off. I can affirm this because I'm sure it seems outlandish but where the fuck is my car? It isn't in the lot. It isn't in the tow website. The waiting for same day check up was long but that was to be expected. Almost took 3hrs. The doctor was nice through the check up. The lady's in the front office was a little rude though. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT PLEASE READ This is the absolute worse hospital I have ever dealt with in my life. I came here thinking they would take care of me during my first pregnancy. Once I finally got in all they did was dismiss my questions and listen to the heartbeat. It was less than 10 minutes. Ridiculous. The outpatient center was even worse. In the 7 months I was STUCK at this hospital because they wouldn't release my medical records to a hospital who would actually do their job, I had 4 appointments. IN SEVEN MONTHS. not to mention I only had 1 ultrasound to tell me the gender and that was it IN APRIL. I first attempted to change locations at the end of April because they never gave me an actual OBGYN I only was given nurses. They took from the end of April until mid AUGUST to release my medical records because they kept "misplacing " my request forms. I called constantly and was met with nothing but attitude from everyone I spoke to. BY THE GRACE OF GOD. I was finally able to get my paperwork released and go to a new clinic. Wow. Went to emergency room and was seen within an hour. The next week I saw a doctor, and week after that they did surgery. Thank you Houston for helping me pay for surgery and getting me back to work. The anesthesiologist was amazing. First time I woke up from a surgery having my snap to me. I blame this hospital for the death of my dad. He went in and was discharged the same night . They only prescribed him muscle pain medication when really that had nothing to do with his situation.Two days later he goes back to the hospital due to pain in his lower back and passes away due to an infection in his blood . If they would've done a blood test the first night he went, then they would've detected it sooner and saved him. Please do not bring your love ones here. The OBG part of the hospital is SEXIST!!!!! If not then explain to me what happened to me and wife in our experience. We came into the hospital because unfortunately my pregnant wife had a nasty slip, because of the recent ice storm in the area. Our Primary Physician recommended us to have our unborn baby checked out to have a piece of mind. Hospital it self is nice and most of the staff are too! We go to OB triage. As we get done signing in and all, I assumed I can go with my wife to the PT room to make sure our baby is fine, but apparently I have to wait in the waiting room. I was confused and irritated because I was wondering why I can't go with my wife to find out our baby is fine. So I went to the waiting room.... I had to wait 4 hours to see my wife to know for a fact she's ok and out baby is ok. I found this very strange from because that they wouldn't even bother letting the father of the baby know directly from the them that everything is ok. Did they ever wondered if the father of the child might have his own concerns and questions. Not until I find out later ( through other nurses) that they did this to make sure my wife wasn't being abused at home or that Im the one that made her fall, but above all to make sure I wasn't there to intimidated her by my presence. After even being asked these questions, my wife decline of any abuse. She requested for me to be there so I can be there for support but they failed to comply and give her excuses and ignored to tell her the real reason. Probably to save face. I understand domestic abuse happens. I understand by some society assumptions and by statistics it's typically the male to be the abuser. But after the mother clarifies that the father is not a danger, then shouldn't the father be able to be involved in anything medical involving his baby and ask the doctors and nurses questions about his baby? Why should I have to wait 4 hours just to meet with my wife, in a completely different part of the hospital, for me to see her and see how our baby is doing? Making and raising a baby is a two person team and keeping one half uninformed is completely and utterly unprofessional!!!!!! There are protocols and I understand, but this whole process just made me as a father, feel as if I second class citizen because I could "possibly," be an abuser. I would really like to know if this is how they treat every couple? What if it was two females having a baby together or two males having a baby? Would they be treated the same and if so, aren't there protocols to bring the other partner into the same room as these profesional talking to their patient after confirming they are not a threat? More than likely this review will be ignored and more than likely be over looked by the hospital it self. The worst about this whole experience for me is that from the beginning to end, I didn't get the chance to talk to any one that looked at our baby and my wife to answer any questions I had or to reassure me that our baby is ok. Building looks brand new, the receptionist was fairly helpful and were able to fast-track my paperwork and I was in a bed within ten minutes of entry so I can't in good conscience give them anything less than 5 stars. Unfortunately I have been frequenting the public healthcare hospitals for a little over a year now from Texas to Tennessee for cancer care. After knocking on deaths door on a weekly basis for this long, I've cone to realize that everyone in the system has a vital role to play and people treat others the best they can given the circumstances. Rude service is inexcusable, especially in settings where life and death questions arise. Luckily I did not experience any on this visit. I came to an ultrasound here at the OBGYN. I've been waiting for two hours now. They haven't called us in. All they did is take my vitals and told me there was only one person in front me. I was there with my mother who was not breathing well ,the night triage nurse (male Indian nurse ??Rog )was there and I was impressed with the ease at which he was able to make me calm and the clinical knowledge that he demonstrated . By far the WORST hospital in Houston!! LBJ is beyond underqualified, has no Dr's here and poor bedside manner on all 3 floors we have been on. No DR'S here, groups of students hovering around, coming in asking the same questions over and over. My husband was basically used as a Guinea pig, he had to have a nerve block before he was going to have his arm aligned. The person who did it come to find out was a student, in training. Upon asking how often he did this procedure. His outrageous reply, " it's my first time, I've only seen it on video"..!!!! Horrifyingly outrageous! He stuck my husband 3 times before someone came and told him to try a different way. Just seeing my husband in excruciating pain these last 3 days is heartbreaking. I should have written this accolade 2 months ago, but never sat down to do it. I wanted to thank all the doctors, nurses, PCAs and therapists who were so kind, attentive and helpful. I will not even try to make a list, lest I forget someone who should be recognized. My son was in intensive care unit 3D ICU for three weeks, and then in 4A for another month. With the encouragement and skill of these outstanding caregivers, he was able to overcome necrotizing pneumonia and septic shock. Thank all of you. read more

From the rude employees to the 10 hr time frame we occurred while only having a 30 min procedure performed. The appointment time was a joke as we were not seen until several hours later. The anesthesiologist informed the nurses that she was busy and to not call and bother her anymore and even went as far as to hang up on the nurses. I've always stalked the reviews on yelp for good restaurants and bars... I've never written a review. After reading the horrible reviews for LBJ I felt compelled to say something. I have been having serious health problems for the last year and have had several trips to the ER, stays in ICU, and so on. I've been to Ben Taub (God help me), Memorial Hermann, Methodist, North Cypress, and most recently to LBJ. When I stayed at LBJ, I was FINALLY properly diagnosed and treated, including follow ups. I always expect to wait a long time, even at the nicest hospitals. Because of my health issues they made me a priority and I was seen immediately. So be aware, if you're waiting longer it is because they are trying to help people based on the seriousness of their visit. That's fair, and that's life. All of the nurses and doctors were extremely nice and attentive. I had a visitor stay every night and the nurses accommodated them as well. The nurses brought me anything I asked for, massaged my feet, and were always available. My room and bathroom were clean and comfortable with a fold out couch for my visitor to sleep on. Yes, there are resident student doctors there, but there real doctors leading them. The food was hospital food but it wasn't bad at all and there was a decent selection. The wifi and cable worked well. I can't find a single complaint. read more

What can I say? It's a county hospital. I've been here several times while visiting a friend, and it seems to be over crowded with patients, and the staff appears to be overworked. Everyone moves like they're in a hurry, but at least they're all polite. Overall, I believe the care you receive is decent, but you may have to wait all night to get it. If you have insurance coverage, use it and go somewhere else. You might pay more for it, but like the saying goes...you get what you pay for! read more
