Lyne Park is a little two story café adjacent to the tennis courts. As cafes go, it's not really my 'go-to' place but, the view from the top floor is lovely! Open air, you can watch kids and adults play tennis and still quiet enough to have good conversation. Good car park, too. Fun place to be outside and have a coffee and a snack! Kid friendly, too! read more

Friendly and personal service…read more The coffee is, as expected, quite fine. The food is interesting. I think there is a fine line between making different ingredients work, and throwing together things that should not be there for the novelty factor only to fail miserably. I remember a Ploughman's lunch in Surry Hills whose individual ingredients were high quality but which left me with an overwhelming taste of sourness and salt. The food at the Trail does nothing of the sort. It is as if every ingredient is calculated to work together with the rest, in the right proportion, to deliver something that works better as a whole than by eating the individual ingredients in succession. The premium is absolutely justified. My fears, based on seeing terms like "silver beets" liberally showered all over the menu, were not. Sorry Grumpy but I think I have a new Vaucluse hangout.

The price isn't too bad- a tiny bit on the pricier side but worth the deliciousness! The only thing that wasn't as pleasant in my experience was the service and the staff. The staff were relatively prompt with taking my order with a slightly longer wait in receiving the food, but wasn't too bad. However, the man who took my order was not very welcoming and friendly, which damaged my overall experience greatly. The staff weren't required to wear masks, despite quite a lot of foot traffic into the cafe. If you go, would recommend the jerk chicken sandwiches and the desserts are delicious!

(They also have an 8-hour cold drip should you so desire.) The shop is tiny, but if you're lucky enough to snag a stump you'll be privy to some of the most amusing customer conversations. Hungry? They were whipping up waffles last time I was there. But don't get your tastebuds in too much of a tizzy, it's just waffles, so if that's what you want, consider yourself a winner. If not, well, tough luck. But let's be honest, you're heading here for the coffee because it's undoubtably Manly's best, whether hot or cold. And hey, I'm sure they'll even put the ice cream in there if you ask nicely. Just don't ask for decaf. Or larges.

Waffles with optional chocolate. Because they do it simple, they do it well. The waffles are freshly made as you order. The chocolate is freshly melted Belgian chocolate. The coffee is either their standard blend, or a single origin that rotates every few days - and they are fastidious about how they make it. The actual café is just a hole in the wall with a few boxes & logs that serve as stools. The popularity of this spot ensures an intimate buzz and more often than not, a friendly conversation with the locals. Well worth a visit.

Make your way down the mint green alleyway, however, and up the industrial metal stairs - you are in the right place, I promise - and you'll be in for a real treat. With a gorgeous roof terrace and a lovely beachy shabby chic vibe, Will & Co feels authentic and homely. The coffee tasted great to me (granted, I'm no connoisseur), and the pastries and muffins looked delicious. The gallery is small but adds a little something to this space, and is great to wander round while waiting for your coffee to brew. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area again - on a hot day it would be perfect!

The baristas were all babes - please thank your mothers for me for you turning out so attractively. And the food did look good.... the coffee however, just wasnt amazing. Look, they did do a fancy fern on the top and I love the ceramic cups they came in, but didnt kick any goals for me. Personally, I've gotten a bit autistic over the spelt scones and can't seem to get anything else. The flavors change daily and they're especially good on days where nuts are present and there's a honey glaze. All reviews so far lead to spelt scones, so ordering is a no-brainer. If you must go another route, I can also vouch for everything else I've tried--sandwiches, sweets, bread loaves, baguettes--and you won't even feel too bad for the inevitable carbluttony because the beach isn't even visible from the bakery and out of sight, out of mind.
