Vegan Shakshuka - SO GOOD
Amanda K.

Visited on a Sunday after a sleep in with my partner. We arrived a bit late, almost at noon, and waited 30 mins for a table. The girl organizing the tables was super nice, asking what type of table we'd prefer (inside/outside) and letting us know when one was available. She apologized for the wait, and was really friendly. We sat outside at a table in the sun, which was really nice in the winter. I ordered a soy capp and a vegan shakshuka, and my partner ordered an OJ and a chicken sandwich. My soy capp came pretty quickly, and the food arrived not too long after that. I was actually surprised at how fast the food came out, considering how big this place is. I was soooo happy with the vegan shakshuka, holy moly it was truly amazing. Good portion size - I left stuffed - and our total bill came to $41, which is amazing for Sydney standards. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something other than avo toast or an acai bowl for breakfast. I'll happily return! PS another pro - there was more than 1 vegan option on the menu :)

Pretty decent spot away from the touristy beach scene. Very neighborhood vibe, lots of locals. We tried various shakshukas, all very good. Coffee was just ok, some of the other breaky spots in the city have better. Also wish they served breakfast items past 12:30, we really wanted to try the ricotta pancakes!

Like a masterpiece but the colours and flavours play on your Pallet @TheShuk Cafe North Bondi.

"One should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast." Speaking of good breakfast Shuk has done it all. Nestled in the middle of suburban North Bondi but like a little hidden gem walk past the fresh smell of the bakery, coffee, and amazing food. Great Sunny Atmosphere and Staff. A little wait for a table but trust me its WORTH IT

Shuk is the latest in a long line of Cafe Deli Bakeries to arrive in Bondi. Instead of being staffed by insanely trendy hipsters and visited by the young and beautiful, Shuk appears to be run by normal looking people and patronised almost exclusively by middle aged South Africans. The decor is good, they have made good use of the space they have - it is functional but also light and airy. The food is decent but on the expensive side for a venue so far from the beach. The coffee is worthwhile, it's near my house and it must be run by non-Christians as it is open on Christmas Day - all of which makes it a winner in my book.

Green Shaksuka with Chorizo

Wanted to try someplace new around Bondi and stumbled upon Shuk, an Israeli bakery and cafe. Very cool vibe and the staff is pretty friendly. We were fortunate to get seated pretty quickly. Their coffee is great value here, my flat white was $3.50 and smooth as silk and came in a large mug, probably the biggest cup for $3.50 I've seen in Sydney. I ordered the Green Shaksuka (an Israeli breakfast staple originating from Tunisia) with Chorizo and my fiancee ordered the Shuk salad. Fresh and delicious. I didn't eat too much of the sourdough (i'm on a diet HA) but the eggs were just right with the vegetables. This is a vegetarian (or ovo-vegetarian) dish, but I of course needed to add meat. The one major downside was the food took forever to come out, but I can't fault them too much for that because there was a big birthday party (20+) and they all just ordered before we did. Definitely worth a visit if you're in North Bondi.

Israeli brekky

First of all, this is a MASSIVE place by Bondi standards- inside, outside and side garden seating. It seriously feels like they've taken over the entire block! It's brunch with a Mediterranean flair, which means you can get your share of hummus and eggs and pita all in one go (the saltiness of the hummus is great for a hangover IMO). I opted for the Israeli breakfast which could have fed three people. Seriously. It's a tasting platter of delights, from eggs and toast, to hummus, tahini, granola with yogurt, avocado, salad etc. It really is enough to feed you and a friend (and maybe a third if you get a side of bacon which duh, I did) and all of it was super fresh and tasty. The service is a bit slow, so if you're really hungry keep that in mind when you arrive.

Green shakahuka

I rarely drink coffee or trust others with my brekkie but it's my birthday and today I happily trusted shuk for both. My flat white was tasty and temperate and perfectly timed with the following green shakahuka. My friend had a handsome looking omelette. After devouring these full sized meals we ventured to dessert. The croissant layered with some mystery chocolate mud throughout stood out.

I love Shuk, but today they are charging public holiday surcharge of 10%, and it's not an official public holiday! Disappointing.

From extra virgin…read moreolive oil to parma ham, Deli Cucina has a fabulous selection of products and a fantastic wealth of knowledge and expertise that they are happy to pass on. I was initially attracted to the smell of sizzling sausages that were being cooked as samples to passers-by. The sausages were fantastic - very meaty and perfectly seasoned. I couldn't resist a quick look at the cellophane wrapped packages of excellent quality pasta and rice in a range of spelt, polenta and gluten free pastas as well as the normal shapes and sizes. They also stocked a wide variety of Tracklements condiments - delicious hand made products from Wiltshire in the UK, such as organic mint jelly, onion marmalade and horseradish cream - only the finest quality ingredients are used, most of which are grown on the farm in which they're based. In addition, this would be a great place to pick up Toby's Estate Coffee beans, cruskits, crackers, biscuits, dried porcini, anchovy fillets, vinegars, pastes, vinaigrettes and oils. It is also very much worth noting that Deli Cucina stock an impressive range of Maxims de Paris chocolate hampers. These would make a fabulous Christmas or birthday present - groaning with tuiles, truffles, pralines and a number of other chocolaty delicacies. Deli Cucina makes a brilliant lunchbox destination - freshly made salads, pastas and cheeses are just waiting to be piled in to takeaway boxes. Delicious, healthy and high quality, this is a gem of a deli that the Easter suburbs are lucky to have.

Despite being warned by several people about the manager's (a man with long hair tied back) poor attitude, I never experienced it myself until today--and it was enough to ensure I never return or recommend it again. I ordered a simple Ham, Cheese, and Tomato toastie that arrived heavily coated in unlisted oregano (see photo). Because this isn't an ingredient I can handle and it was not listed on the menu, I asked for a replacement. The waitress was professional and immediately offered to remake it, but the manager--who was opening boxes and didn't even bother to stand up or look at the toastie I was trying to show him--intervened and flatly refused. He claimed the sandwiches are "pre-made," which is a blatant contradiction of the menu's promise that customers can "combine ingredients as you wish." Either the menu is misleading or he was simply being dishonest to avoid fixing a mistake. I usually do takeaway, but last Saturday I had breakfast here and noticed his poor attitude toward the staff. The food was late and cold, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was just a stressful morning. After today, I can confirm this is just how he treats everyone--staff and customers alike. To be clear, I would never normally bother to lodge a formal claim over a "silly" ingredient. However, his insulting attitude and total lack of basic customer service have made this a matter of principle. By refusing a remedy for a product that didn't match the description, he has failed to meet Australian Consumer Law guarantees. I am now lodging a formal complaint with NSW Fair Trading to ensure this conduct is addressed.

I recommend grabbing a table in the cafe and settling in for a while under the Italian posters. The coffee is Italian: rich and strong, and the food... is delicious! Try the toasted ciabatta with ricotta and roasted tomatoes or the meatballs, actually try anything on the menu, it's all pretty amazing.
