We lived here for 10 months, and those 10 months were the happiest period of our lives. Management Team: The entire management team (Misty,Alyssa,Daniel and Victor)demonstrated their professionalism and enthusiasm. They took into account many aspects we hadn't considered and helped us resolve issues. Misty personally called the management team of the apartment my daughter was renting in Berkeley to help us maximize our rights when she vacated the apartment. Alyssa always provided excellent service, and whenever we reached out to her, she promptly resolved any issues. Daniel quickly responded to a blocked sewer pipe and performed the necessary repairs, saving us from a major problem. Victor stepped in when Daniel was on medical leave to help us complete the pre-inspection at an opportune time. Thank you, Lyric Apartment management team, you are the best! Apartment selection: When choosing an apartment, we also looked at many options in the surrounding area. Ultimately, we chose Lyric because it had an exceptionally large island counter, the 1B1B layout offered the largest space, and the interior amenities were relatively modern. Particularly, the resident club was fantastic; my daughter and I enjoyed studying there. The environment was excellent, and the view from the windows was beautiful. My daughter loved it. The WC downtown area is very safe, with numerous restaurants, making it a great place for a stroll after dinner every day. After all that's been said, suffice it to say that we are grateful to the Lyric Apartment management team. It was thanks to you that we had a wonderful 10-month stay. If we ever have the chance to return to the Bay Area, Lyric Apartment will undoubtedly be our only choice! read more

We've been living at Lyric in Walnut Creek for six months now, and that's given us a solid sense of how everything works here--and overall, it's been a very positive experience. Safety hasn't been an issue at all for our family, which was a major priority for us when moving in. Downtown WC simply doesn't endure the typical Bay Area plaques like mentally unstable homeless or constant car break-ins. It's jarring how normal it is. The Lyric team (Misty + Alyssa + Daniel), has done an excellent job keeping residents in the loop with clear and timely community-wide announcements. They're thorough, responsive (and if not, I don't hesitate to simply bump up the email threads etc), and genuinely care about maintaining a well-run property. As I mentioned in a previous review, our unit's windows weren't clean upon move-in due to a heavy calcium buildup that was especially noticeable in direct sunlight. While resolving this took longer than expected, the team at Lyric was *extremely* transparent and communicative throughout the process. In the end, they pushed for a fair solution, and we felt heard and respected. That level of integrity goes a long way when it's time to consider if one should renew their lease. We also appreciate the variety of discounts and partnerships Lyric has with the retail businesses on the ground floor--it's a nice touch that adds value to being a resident here. [!] One thing to watch out for: we noticed a recurring $16 monthly charge from a service called RentPlus, which reports your on-time rent payments to the credit bureaus. While that might sound useful, it feels like a bit of a money grab--especially since anyone approved for a Lyric lease likely already has solid credit. We were able to opt out and request a refund, but if we hadn't caught it, we would've ended up paying over $200 over a year for a service we didn't need. That said, we're still happy to give Lyric 5 stars. The management is responsive, the building is secure, and the overall experience continues to meet our expectations. read more

Good in many ways.. If you order online such as Amazon, it is impossible to find your packages in the 6' x 10' mail room, which all the residents share. It is a big problem and packages are very difficult to find!! If this would change, it would be a much better experience. read more

I lived at the Lyric luxury apartments for 15 months. While I enjoyed the location, it was disappointing. The Pros: -great location - very walkable -tremendous restaurant selection, and shopping close by -close to freeway, BART -maintenance responded quickly to issues -grounds were well maintained -nice view of Mt. Diablo The Cons: -older appliances - dishwasher didn't dry, washer/dryer very loud. -no kitchen sink sprayer in the sink (it's the little things for a luxury apartment). -water temperature ran hot to cold and hot again in showers, sink. Maintenance looked at it 3 times, still not fixed. I gave up. -elevators out of service. -sanitation trucks 6 days a week come between 4am - 6am, banging the dumpsters. Dumpsters are shared with a restaurant and are emptied almost daily. Woke me up every time. If you live in one of the apartments encircling the the entrance, you know what I mean. -package room very small; difficult to find your packages - unorganized. -After move-out, I cleaned the apartment; washed floors, cleaned refrigerator, stove, bathroom, tub/shower, windows, vacuumed carpet, baseboards. Lyric kept the entire deposit for: sanitizing/cleaning, painting, carpet cleaning. Aren't cleaning and painting a part of normal operating costs for a rental property? -Lyric uses Moved.com to facilitate end-of-lease tasks. Scheduled a move-out inspection via Moved.com, followed up with an email to Misty, Alyssa, and Daniel. Lyric only schedules move-out inspections on weekdays. Took time off work; Lyric reps were a no show. Waited almost an hour. Office was closed. Move-in customer service was great, move-out customer service was virtually nonexistent. -Bottom floor of parking garage experiences flooding in winter, very hot temps in summer. Would I recommend living here? Unless you don't mind the noise and the aging apartments, probably not. read more

We had a horrific experience living at the Lyric for six months. There were continual late night, parties and drug use on a regular basis in the apartment above us. The management did nothing to fix the problem. There are many homeless people that linger around the building/dumpsters in the evening and we're able to access the garage. There is no fob to get into the building so if an intruder accesses the garage they can get into the building on their own. My car was broken into several times in the so-called secure garage as were other cars and lockers. I know a handful of tenants had things stolen such as golf clubs and other personal belongings taken out of their lockers. During the short time we were there, the Lyric went through four or five different employees in the management positions causing terrible communication. it was an all around terrible experience. When we abruptly had to move out because of the drug use above us and the lack of safety, I took down temporary stick, and peel wallpaper. The unqualified management had never disclosed the walls have been unnecessarily painted over 5 times which caused the paint to peel. The Lyric unfairly charged me an exuberant amount of unnecessary money well beyond my good faith deposit. Because of their poor management and lack of disclosure of over painting the walls, I am ow forced to take them to small claims court to dispute this issue. I had paid a good faith deposit and they came back and asked for a ridiculous amount of money. I can't emphasize enough how horrific our all around experience was with the Lyric. Lastly, I had furniture stolen by someone in the building during my move out. Shame on the Lyric for lacking class, qualified management and compassion that arose during our residency. read more

Experience with lyric apartments so far: Cons: - Appliance are garbage. - Dishwasher does not actually wash. cheaply made. - washer/dryer do not do their jobs well. takes longer to wash and dry - central heater has broken down during our first month - cabinets are cheap - can hear the neighbors walking back and forth upstairs - Communication is not good. There have been multiple times where communication prior to our move in and after where communication was horrible. Example, there was a flyer that was sent out recently regarding fire inspection. The only clarified that a test would be conducted for 1 minute, which was not the case. The actual alarms were to be tested for 30+ minutes (and on going as of right now). - broken elevators. one elevator has been out of service the entire time we have been here. Pros: - in walnut creek - management staff seems to be doing their best with the apartment. I think they do their best even though this apartment was built poorly. What sucks about this apartment (and seems to be most apartments in the area but not sure) is they advertise as being a "luxury apartment" when i do not think its very "luxury." Luxury could certainly be a subjective term, but when i think of luxury i would think the apartment unit is built with practicality and sturdiness in mind. Been living at Lyric for 17 months. Overall, great place and you cannot be the location. Management is responsive and maintenance is very good (Victor is awesome!) Recommend it. Only gripes are (a) the timing of the trash clearing, especially on Saturday mornings seems egregious. Not sure how much they control it but it's very loud and very early. Lastly, would love to see more WiFi enabled appliances and door access. read more

I have lived here for 4 years now, and there has been some turnover at the leasing office. The current manager, Cherry is exceptional! So attentive, accommodating and just great! I think it's been a year (?) since Cherry started here and there is a different feeling all around, I just feel more comfortable at this building. Lyric is ideally located downtown, close to restaurants, transportation, shopping, and parks, which is a major reason why many tenants choose to stay. Unfortunately, the quality of property management has declined significantly since the first property manager, who was professional, knowledgeable, and made tenants feel valued and part of a community. While it's normal for people to change jobs, the turnover here has been unusually high. Over the past few years, there have been at least six different property managers and assistant managers. This level of instability suggests underlying issues with staffing and oversight by the parent company, Berkshire. A new property and assistant manager just started about a month ago. For a more balanced perspective, I recommend looking at reviews on apartmentratings.com and other platforms beyond Yelp to form your own judgment. Below are some examples highlighting the issues: 1. Lack of Transparency and Communication While it's expected that buildings will experience wear and tear, the property management team consistently fails to communicate important timely updates to tenants. Examples include prolonged issues such as: * Elevators being out of service for months * The garage entrance being broken for weeks * Reports of theft in both the garage and apartment * A pipe burst flooding several units * Noise issues within the buildings These incidents were either poorly communicated or not mentioned at all. 2. Inadequate Knowledge of Contracts and New Product Rollouts The staff lacks a clear understanding of leasing contracts and frequently provides vague explanations, attributing policy changes to "Lyric" without further evidence. Examples include: * Tenants being required to sign forms in Spanish without an option to remove these forms, despite California law stating that contracts should be in English unless otherwise requested by the tenant. * Poorly communicated rollouts of new products like Bilt, which asks for sensitive information (e.g., SSN, credit report authorization). After a recent data breach with Bilt, tenants received no information or guidance on next steps. In addition, tenants are now required to use multiple platforms for rent payments, lease agreements, and maintenance requests, whereas one central portal was previously available. 3. Inability to Address Tenant Concerns After I was bitten by a neighbor's dog who was not on a leash (a bernedoodle who lives in the South building 3rd floor) the property manager stated they could only take notes and could not take action, despite other tenants also reporting issues with the tenant/untrained dog. This incident was reported to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, and a copy was provided to management. According to lease terms (Sections 11 and 12), the management has the right to enforce action in such cases, yet they chose not to act. 4. Lack of Timely Responses Responses from the property or assistant manager often take days or even weeks--if they respond at all. When tenants visit the office in person, they are frequently met with dismissive attitudes and informed that reaching out to a regional manager won't make a difference. Furthermore, tenants are neither given contact information for the regional manager nor allowed to escalate their concerns. Finding Berkshire corporate contact details is also challenging. In summary, while the location is a strong selling point, the ongoing issues with the property manager/assistant manager and lack of tenant support detract significantly from the overall living experience. read more

I recently moved into Lyric and have been thoroughly impressed with the community. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help with any questions or concerns. The grounds are well-maintained and provide a beautiful setting for walks or outdoor activities. The apartments themselves are spacious and well-designed, with plenty of storage and modern amenities. I especially love the large windows that provide plenty of natural light and great views of the surrounding area. The kitchen is well-equipped with high-quality appliances and plenty of counter space for meal prep. One of my favorite aspects of the community is the amenities. There's a fitness center with a variety of equipment, beautiful rooftop, a community room with a pool table and resident events! Overall, I highly recommend the Lyric to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming community to call home. After 2.5 years, I'm starting my next chapter and moving away from Lyric, which is very bittersweet. My time there was overall a great experience, and I had a wonderful place to call home. When I first moved in, day 1 was a bit bumpy but Marquon helped resolve all issues within a matter of 24 hours. He even checked in on me within the first week to ensure everything went smoothly. I lived in a one-bedroom, one-bath spot, which was a good size for myself. I had to be creative with storage, but luckily, Lyric has storage lockers as well - a great perk. Additional perks to know about include the downtown location, reserved parking, a gym, and the rooftop deck area with indoor and outdoor features like a pool table, large communal kitchen area, BBQs, and tables. The view of Mt. Diablo is stunning and will be greatly missed. Outside of these features, I must give major kudos to a few staff members, Victor, Mario, and Jenesys. Whenever I needed assistance or something fixed, they were prompt to help. All very friendly and willing to assist in any way they possibly could! I will miss them dearly. Jenesys, in particular, was always wonderful to work with from the touring and application process to day-to-day questions and moving out. She was always checking in and asking how I'm doing. Anyone would be lucky to work with her or have her on your team. I would recommend you consider Lyric as your next home. It truly is a wonderful place, and I will miss living there! read more

The staff is friendly and helpful, and the property looks nice, but the infrastructure maintains a thin veneer of quality overlaying a borderline dangerously slapdash job. I've lived here for a few years, and in that time there have been 2 major floods. One destroyed several apartments on the 2nd and 3rd stories of the north building along with the leasing office and package room, and the second hit the parking garage. We had half the elevators on property break and not be fixed for around a year. I also hope you like fire alarms, or at least the experience of a college dorm. Expect mandatory testing every other month. Expect surprise alarms at all other times to, because delivery and moving trucks exiting the lot periodically hit sprinklers causing mandatory evacuations around once a month. Lyric expects luxury prices but does not provide a comparable experience to other apartment complexes, and I gotta say it's good they require renter's insurance. If you choose to live here, I'd suggest you don't pick a high deductible. Another example of what you can expect is the removal of resident amenities - residents used to have codes to get in and out of the building, and they have been outright removed under the guise of a software update with no effort to fix or replace them, and a denial it was an amenity offered to begin with. The location is good and the gym is nice, but I'd probably go with Vaya or the Rise come next renewal. read more

Now that we've had a chance to live in Lyric for a year, here's what it's like to live here. Some background: we moved from San Francisco during the early days of the pandemic in search of more space, amenities, and an environment that could foster community in a new city. We toured a few complexes in the Downtown Walnut Creek area and while each is unique and has it's differences, Lyric was hard to beat. THE UNITS: Lyric is a relatively new building, which means the units have modern finishes, stainless steel appliances, and are energy efficient. You'll notice some units have warmer laminate wood flooring & cabinets while others are cooler and darker -- both looks nice in my opinion. Something we noticed, and was a big deciding factor for us, were the large windows allowing for lot of natural light. The units pretty much have every amenity you'd need: * Central AC (which is great for Walnut Creek summers where it can regularly reach 100 degrees). * Stainless steel refrigerator with ice and water dispenser * Dish Washer * Washer/Dryer (Note: They're a little on the smaller side. While this hasn't been an issue for us, you might have to do multiple loads for larger blankets, comforters, bedding, etc) PRICE: I won't get too much into price as it can vary from unit to unit. While Lyric is one of the pricier complexes in the area, it's also in the literal center of downtown (broadway plaza is a 5min walk, BART is 8min walk, all the restaurants and shops are a figurative 2 sec walk). There are less expensive places you can rent, though they'll have their tradeoffs -- especially older places (no AC, no modern finishes, usually farther from downtown). COMMUNAL SPACES: The building has two wings, the North Side and the South Side. The North side has the leasing office, a large lobby, package lockers, and a rooftop area. The South side has a smaller lobby, a gym, rooftop lounge with BBQ and fire pit, and a reservable rooftop space with pool table, keg, kitchen, TV, etc. As someone who works out pretty regularly, the fitness center is actually one of the nicest I've seen. The gym has wall sized windows that overlook downtown as you exercise. For the most part, It has all the equipment you'd need to ditch a gym membership: * Squat Rack (can double as a bench press when used with a seat) * Functional trainer system * Dumbbell Rack (up to 50lbs) * Yoga Mats * Treadmills * Ellipticals * Fixed Barbell Set * And a few more The building also has a secure parcel locker that you need temporary unique ID for. It's about $20/year but it's been pretty convenient. I've never had any issues with a lost or stolen package. One thing to note is that this complex doesn't have a pool. Though, I can't say we've missed it, especially when everything is air conditioned including lobbies, gym, and lounge areas. COMMUNITY: One of our hopes moving into Lyric was that it would facilitate community and more opportunities for social engagements. Everyone we have met so far has been kind, genuine, interesting, and just overall nice people. With Covid restrictions loosening, the building has started hosting more resident events (happy hours, dog socials, etc). Attending these events are a great way to meet your neighbors and an opportunity to know your property managers better. The community is also very diverse and has people of all ages, ethnicities, sexualities, etc. My Partner and I are Queer and we've felt welcomed and accepted. MANAGEMENT: Management changed about halfway through our residency; you can tell this new management really cares about the well-being and happiness of their residents. Angel and Jenesys have also been incredibly responsive -- I can actually reach them through phone or in person, and I get email responses back almost immediately. They're both very personable, warm people that that are very much willing to work with you -- whether that's dealing with a maintenance issue or working through a rent increase. TLDR: Nice units and amenities with nice communal areas and an amazing community read more

I agree with the most recent post about Lyric. I've lived here for a year and have become accustomed to the smell of raw sewage in the hallways. In addition to this smell, residents must also get used to the garage being filled with water when it rains, random fire alarms during the workday and apartment inspections that include staff looking through your closets and cabinets. Packages continue to go missing and residents are instructed to fetch their packages as soon as they arrive. If a package is missing, the staff apologize and tell you nothing can be done. Expect your lease rate to jump up to 9% at renewal (5% + CPI). There's a rooftop lounge that can be rented for a small fee: $250/4hrs or $400/ 6hrs for 1-9 people For parties of 10+ and additional fee of $150 is added to your bill You're required to haul the trash to the main floor and empty them in the bins near the front door. No additional bins will be provided in the lounge for the event. Also, beware of the fake reviews. I'm a current resident at Lyric, and honestly I have nothing but positive experiences here. The location is amazing- you can walk anywhere you need to go, and feel great while doing it. The management is always on top of their game, if something goes wrong (which it does at times, since that's how apartment living is), they're the first to know, and they immediately send out emails to keep us all in the loop until it's resolved. The building is kept spotless at all times, and having the convenience of a gym in the building is a lifesaver and actually gets me to spend some time on myself. The difference between this building and the place I lived before is uncanny, and I can't help but feel blessed to have it all work out so nicely. read more

I've been here now for a year . The most I have ever paid for an apartment because I love the location and how the apartment was presented. I expected great nothing but the best. However , Since I've lived here there has been many issues with plumbing, I walk into my apartment it smells like sewage smell lasting for days and the toilets are bubbling. This happens often every few months. Even the garage smells like sewage at times. Also this community allows pets which is fine , but the elevators smells like wet dog or someone leaves urine. Also in the hallway there was dog poop there sitting for days. I guess I can only blame the owners but it's part of the community. read more

My fiancé and I cannot recommend working with Jenesys at Lyric to find your next apartment enough! After touring other buildings in Walnut Creek we were made to feel so much at home by Jenesys who answered all of our questions and clearly described what to expect when living at Lyric. This feeling of "knowing what you are going to get" and the overall positive energy that Jenesys exudes was a big reason behind why we chose to move to Lyric. Sometimes when you are looking at multiple different apartments and debating small differences between them you realize that the emotions you felt when touring the property become the most important element in making your decision. At the very least this was true for us, and the positive emotions and great vibes we felt at Lyric we owe in large part to our encounters with Jenesys. I'll stop short of saying our current property managers - Marquon and Andrea - are useless, but suffice it to say they do not care about their residents. The primary reason for this is that they do not live on the property, so nothing - good or bad - affects them. My boyfriend and I have been residents for three years now and have seen property managers shuffle in and out, but Marquon and Andrea have been the least helpful of all - full empty promises and no action. Here are just a few examples of where they fall short (all of which I have previously brought up with them): -Safety: By early April when all of us began to understand the true severity of COVID-19, I emailed Andrea to see if she and Marquon were able to post signs about social distancing in elevators, which was common among other apartment communities in the area and nationwide. The response I got was: "We've decided not to post signs. All guidelines and recommendations are already made available by the CDC, which our communications direct for reference." Perhaps if Andrea and Marquon were living in this building they would care about social distancing. (Note that they finally posted one tiny sign last week, after the county mandated we wear masks at all time). -Security: We've (myself and other neighbors) have had many issues with safety in the past. They've all gone unaddressed. Most recently, we had someone pull on our door handle and push the door open. Luckily our door was locked. When I emailed Andrea about this my concern did not even warrant a response. (See my previous review for even more detail) -Respect: My boyfriend and I actually had to reach out to Marquon in mid-January to ask about next steps in renewing our lease, which was up in February. Seeing as though we were trying to renew for a third year - paying over $4k for our apartment - you'd think we would be treated with enough respect to receive advance notice of lease renewal, but we were not. We had to hound Marquon throughout this process. -Consideration: Again, because Marquon and Andrea don't live on-site, they don't care what goes on here. I have multiple examples, but the primary ones are that our community furniture has never been replaced since the building opened. It is dirty, gross and unacceptable for what we pay. The outside of our apartment windows have also never been washed since they started trying to manage (spoiler alert: they're filthy). Marquon has said "I will look into the issues you raised below and will follow up on the routine set to maintain those common areas." He never did. We also have constant fire drills with barely any advanced notice and no specific time to plan. We'll be told the day before that they'll be doing fire drill testing "throughout the morning" and can't give a specific time when our (very loud) alarms will be going off in our apartments and hallways. Not ideal for all of us working from home right now, nor ideal for our poor pets. It should also be noted that this fire alarm testing has happened multiple times throughout the three years we have lived here and it is because we have had "false alarms" / a faulty system (as reported by the Contra Costa Fire Department when I inquired with them, since Marquon and Andrea don't send out updates afterward). I have plenty more examples to share but feel these are a good representation of why I would not recommend moving into Lyric. If you don't want to take my word, feel free to visit one day and watch all of the move outs. There is at least one a day and 2-3 on the weekends. This property and its management is in no way, shape, or form worth the money. Renter beware. read more

Lyric is forsure THE place to live in Walnut Creek! Currently I live in Pleasant Hill but my job is located in Walnut Creek and I'm looking to move soon when my lease is up in August closer to where I work. My friend has been a tenant here for almost a year now and each time I visit, I fall more and more in love with this property. It's in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek and there are so many great restaurants, bars, and shopping locations just an easy 5-10 minute walk away! Each time I visit, everything looks clean and and everyone I've ever met has been very friendly. While preparing for my move, Lyric was the first place I wanted to look into as an option for a new home. I wanted to tour the property as I've only been to a few spots on my friends side of the building and wanted to get a better feel for the place. The woman who helped me, Jenesys was absolutely phenomenal! I didn't know you had to schedule a tour beforehand and so just walked in thinking I could get a quick tour in. Jenesys let me know normally she would schedule beforehand but that she didn't mind accommodating me! It was extremely kind of her as I'm sure she's busy with many tours considering how great this property is. She was very patient with all of my questions and answered all of them with ease, offering additional information based off of my questions that she thought may be helpful. She showed me all the great amenities such as the gym, the updated appliances in the units, and my favorite - the rooftop lounge complete with an outdoor barbecue area. I could just see myself going up there and enjoying a beer watching the sunset at the end of summer! I'm very excited about the prospect of living in such a well kept building with friendly and attentive staff. Thank you Jenesys for showing me around and I hope to call Lyric my home soon! read more

I moved in to Lyric in July making this my home away from home during the week. It had been over 30 years since I had lived in an apartment so many things to think of as I made the move. Jenesys was incredible, she went above and beyond. She worked with me as I had furniture delivered, helped me set up the various services I needed, and overall was just first class. This property does a great job of security, keeping the property clean, well maintained, and generally making it a enjoyable property to reside at. My husband looked at every apartment complex in downtown Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill and are VERY happy we selected Lyric. There really isn't a better spot if you are looking for a convenient location and superior amenities. I walk to bart and use the Lyric work lounge and gym every day, making my daily routine so pleasant and easy! The building is run very smoothly and professionally from managing package deliveries, timely maintenance requests, extremely clean common areas, and helpful and friendly staff - this place is top notch. My husband and I live here with our 2 year old daughter and enjoy walking to the park, library, and our favorite coffee shop which is just around the corner. Summary: As someone who has lived in two other self-proclaimed 'luxury' apartment complexes in Walnut Creek, Lyric steps it up with additional amenities for a similar price point. The location and the leasing crew/property management staff are also top notch. The property is split into two buildings that share an underground basement parking structure. The building to the south has a fitness center and rooftop area. The rooftop has two grills, an area to entertain/hangout, a pool table, and lots of seating to enjoy views of Mt Diablo. The building to the north also has outdoor areas with lots of seating that is currently being completed - more to come on what gets installed. The apartments are set up like most in the area - alternating floors have alternating color cabinets. The stove range is electric but can boil water very quickly. The floors are laminate, with tile in the bathrooms and carpet in the bedrooms. Many of the apartment I viewed before picking one also had lots of natural light and large windows - an added bonus. The only thing I don't care for is the thermostat: it's complex and doesn't seem to follow the program you'll schedule into it. A Nest might be in order. Finally, the staff. Neta was whom I worked with the most. She was very attentive and made herself available for any questions or help getting an apartment that made sense for me and my budget. She made the difference in me picking Lyric. Adam has been helpful whenever I've had a question and also stepped up to help me move my couch into the elevator. I've only interacted with Triskin a handful of times and she's always been very helpful. All of them have been great and help give the property a positive vibe. I want to be up front that this review is for Jenesys, as I am not yet a tenant of Lyric. I've been looking for the right place to live for months because I have some health issues and special needs, and it's been challenging. I'm hoping to rent a unit at Lyric starting next month, and I've toured the property several times and corresponded at length with Jenesys to find the right fit. Let me just say, this woman is amazing. She has been so kind, knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful. She really listened when I told her what I needed, and she's been thoughtful about keeping me updated as to the units that become available and advising me which ones would be best suited to me. She answers my questions directly and thoroughly (which is more than I can say about many leasing agents), and she never makes me feel like I'm being "difficult" for having particular needs. She's friendly and good-humored, in addition to being competent and responsible. I'm very grateful for her and hope she gets the recognition she deserves! From the month before the move in, Andrea has been a gem. She walked me through each step, explained my options and helped pick the best apartment for my needs. This is an outstanding community with the option of being as involved as you want. Nice building, but poor security. The apartment itself is quite nice, though we pay for it. The lobby, gym and common areas are quite nice too, and the maintenance staff is very good. The biggest issue here is the lack of security, which I expect much more of for a place that is over $4k for a one bedroom unit. Other units have had similar issues as detailed here by another reviewer on Yelp (thefts from locked storage areas available for an extra fee in the garage, etc). I had $600 bike chained up very aggressively deep inside the garage which was stolen on a Saturday evening between 7 and 9pm. Again, it's a decent place to live but the lack of security is disappointing. I suppose theft is inevitable but one would hope there would be cameras and other security measures to deter thieves when the rent is as high as it is, but clearly it is inadequate. There have also been many thefts of packages delivered from Amazon etc. Having a bicycle stolen is upsetting, but what is most worrisome is that there are clearly criminals inside the parking garage where people are alone. One of these criminals could decide to assault a resident in the dark garage to steal their car or worse. The security measures in this building are woefully inadequate given the rent and high level of service otherwise. read more

Everything is always broken. Not just minor things in your apartment. I mean water, elevator you name it. It is like Murphy's law. If it can break then it will break. Once we didn't have working elevator for at least 8 months. Stove top fan doesn't suck. Stove just has one setting. There is no high to low. All 4 burners have either high or low. Kitchen sink has 80s style short faucet that makes washing dishes chore. Half the time dish washer doesn't even melt soap. With so many problems you just learn to live with it. Just count the days till your lease is over. Management is lazy and stuck up. They act like they are making you favor for letting you live there. Your main job is to service the residents!!! Makes living there unpleasant even though you paying more than a new car price a year. Location is good but overrated not worth the rent and downtown walnut creek is not what it looks. Rotten egg smell from sewage is unbearable. read more

I moved to Lyric a couple of months ago and absolutely love it here! The location is perfect. The building is always clean and well maintained. The staff is incredible!! My apartment has a great view of Mount Diablo. There is an amazing rooftop and gym. The staff has put on some very nice social events and I've met a lot of friends. GREAT apartments, pit-bull manager, I desperately regret moving in here. I have to see her every time I come home and she not only makes my living experience here very unpleasant, but most of the time I feel harassed. If I had to do it again, I would probably not choose to live here. read more

Lyric has some great amenities such as a roof top patio and pool and they offer onsite dry cleaning lockers! love the spacious floor plans they are so modern. Triskin and Adam have been great to work with. read more
