All that Andres is doing is passing you off to one of his employees and booking you a car through Europcar. He doesn't explain that to you until you have paid him. He's a con. I paid him roughly 160 US because I had never rented a car in Chile and wanted the process to be more smooth and have the 24/7 help. He did not answer when my vehicle was sabotaged, which voided the whole reason that I booked through him. When I reached out to request a refund he very kindly told me that I was on my own. Don't make the same mistake that I made. Just book the car through europcar yourself. Avis and Budget also operate here if you want to use an English speaking 24/7 support service. By the way I don't write reviews and I gave Andres the opportunity to fix this. Attached is an example of an email his company sent me. Our reservation for our car in Chile was a bit unusual in that we booked it nearly a year in advance due to it being the week of the 2019 Solar Eclipse. From the first contact with Andres Gabor of LYS via email to the end of the trip, I felt confident in my decision to choose LYS. Andres was very helpful in responding to questions in the months leading up to our trip, even providing personalized information and photos about the locations we would visit. We know very little Spanish so being able to work with someone who speaks English made the rental process very easy and helped put our minds at ease in a situation that can be very stressful. Several of my acquaintances who had booked rental cars in Chile for the week of the eclipse with other companies had their reservations "overbooked" and then cancelled at the last minute and so I was quite nervous about this. I reached out to Andres as the time got closer and he was quick to reassure me that all would go as planned. And, in fact, he made it better than planned, as he was able to get us an automatic transmission vehicle even though we were planning on a manual. When the time of our trip finally arrived, the pick up of the car was very smooth. Andres had arranged for the LYS driver to meet us at the airport. He was right on time and went over all the rental documents, and giving us info about gas, safety, etc. We felt that we were getting much more personal attention than if we were renting from a chain. We were on our way in no time and the vehicle performed wonderfully for us. The car was clean and in great mechanical condition. Having a car meant that we could explore and sightsee very easily and we were able to scout out the perfect eclipse viewing locating without any trouble. Though, if we would have had any trouble, we felt very safe that we could text Andres and he would be able to help. At the appointed time for drop off, again it was super easy. The driver simply met us again at the airport lot, and off we went. We were almost a bit sad to leave our trusty mode of transportation! I would not hesitate to recommend LYS rent a car. In fact, I hope to be able to use them again for our next trip in 2020. I will say that when I first started researching renting a car in Chile, the price of the car seemed like it was more than other chain rental car companies, but that is mainly because the advertised price of those cars doesn't include the insurance, tolls and taxes, etc. So do your due diligence and try and compare pricing with all those things included.
