It's not like your typical American airports where shuttles pass by and you wait on the curb. Instead they keep it a secret when you book your reservation that the pickup place is some random parking stall in the garage. So strange. So we get to the unmarked stall (C22) and we are waiting with like 10 other people. The van comes and the driver said he can only fit 6 people, and he has a list of people who made a reservation for the shuttle. How the heck are you supposed to know to sign up for a spot on the shuttle?? So we try to ask him if we can put our names on the list for the next shuttle and he just like waves us away and is kind of rude. He said he'll be back in 50 minutes... or 15... he never clarified even though we asked. He comes back in about 20 minutes and takes the rest of us to the hotel. It was definitely a wild ride to the hotel... The hotel isn't that far from the airport, but you can't walk... We finally get into our room and it's nice enough. The shower was hot and the water pressure was great. The AC was easy to turn on and we figured out the lights. I'd definitely give this place another try knowing that I need to make a reservation for the airport shuttle. And I know where to find it.

We were extremely tired from the long journey from Patagonia and yet they made us sit in the van for at least a good 20 mins, hoping to fill up the van before taking off. We tried asking them at one point how soon can they leave (we almost got off to take a cab instead) and they just gave us a hand signal (whatever that might mean). The room itself was tired and old....and so was the bathroom. Definitely not at Hilton standards. The next morning, the shuttle service was late and didnt even gesture us despite we were waiting out front....terrible service. Next time, I rather stay at the Holiday Inn, which is literally outside the airport, than to deal this. Not recommended!

Their system works well, the trains are often and clean, the stations are clean and well-lit and there is very little confusion about where the lines go or how you use it. It's all ONE zone, so none of that complication like London. It's all ONE company, so none of that complication like Tokyo. Easy! The lines are simple. They go from one end of town to the other or from the north end to the south. Sure, the trains don't go everywhere and there is a lot of the city that is not close to a station. But the main parts of downtown are well covered. As of 2018, there are no more single ride tickets. You will need to purchase a "Bip!" card, which you can do from any staffed counter. You load credit onto the card at any automated machine and they all accept cash and credit. You only need one card. You just wave it at the reader once for each person you're purchasing a ticket for. That's great! I have to say, I'm a fan. It would be "As good as it gets" when the train goes to the airport. Even the closest station is a few miles ride.

You purchase a Bip! card (about $2.50), which stores money value on it, and you can reload the card at any station, via person or machine. You tap the card on the turnstile machine upon entrance only. There are 3 price levels: rush hour, regular, and low. The difference between rush & regular is only 10 cents or so. You are charged for each ride (660 pesos, about a dollar), and there is no day pass or week pass. This is a bargain compared to the US - but you have to plan your trip since each trip will cost you. And yes, this system is extremely crowded most of the time. It's not really worth it to wait for the next uncrowded train because they will all be crowded. Trains run the entire length of the station, and are pretty frequent during the day. I mainly only took the Line 1, since it served my area and downtown. Most signs are in Spanish & English, so you can get by if you are good with directions. I never felt threatened or unsafe on the metro. There is a security presence at most stations near the turnstiles.

If location is key, this is your place. The rest of the hotel has this 1980's-type feel to it. Like it was really elegant and fancy back then and they never bothered to update anything - they even have a doorman dressed up in some fancy garb. I stayed here twice, the first time was in a standard room which was very basic (bed, nightstand, bathroom, chairs, TV). The second time I somehow got upgraded to a suite and the room was huge, even had its own living room. You'll get different services based on which package you buy, I got a free drink at the bar (choice of pisco sour or a glass of wine) and they gave me a bottle of wine at the turn-down service. The pool was closed, which was strange because it's indoor and on the top floor. Not bad, but not particularly nice.

Location was wonderful- in the middle of centro and right next to subway and bus stops. Free breakfast every morning with your stay includes coffee/tea/juices, eggs, fruit, cold cuts, baked goods, and yogurts. This is a very clean, modern hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
