The mezzanine gives direct underground city access to the Stadium. The station has two exits of its own, one incorporated into the stadium's parvis, and another across the street. Pie-IX station is located in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve today, it not only serves the Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Park, but it is also the stop for the Botanical Gardens, Olympic Park, the Biodome, the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, le Château Dufresne - Musée des arts décoratifs de Montréal, le Collège de Maisonneuve and the Olympic Village. The train station here (as opposed to the metro) is so lovely and nostalgic and super affordable and useful and efficient and green and great. There's not a lot of warm indoor space to wait if you're waiting for the train, you mostly sit in these covered boxes that are open in the front to the wind and weather, or you line the stairs and get blown over by the crazy wind tunnel that happens when you open the doors. Getting off the train and onto the metro is smooth and then you can sit on these tiny strange uncomfortable seats in perfect 60s colours and head off on the orange line. This is also the stop to jump on the 105 bus that'll take you all the way through NDG along Sherbrooke street, which is a fun ride full of delicious food and great local businesses so if you're looking for a weird, low key MTL adventure, you could do worse!!

The metro station is actually very clean, quiet, yet quite busy and active in the morning. I wish we had started taking the Metro earlier in our trip as we would've made this the go-to form of transportation as it was quite cheap compared to what you would pay in America. Instead of getting a one-day or three-day unlimited pass, we decided to get direct one time route passes at $3.25 Canadian per pass. The trains get you to your destinations fast and the whole experience is great. The trains are quite modern, new, and clean. We found that the stations were very quiet and the ridership very courteous, polite and friendly (versus what you experience in America).
