The modernized tiled kitchen is welcoming and sleek, and opens into a patio overlooking flowering native plants and many trees. Breakfast featured local breads, fresh fruit and exceptional bacon even a pescatarian can love. Best of all is the personable and knowledgeable hostess - we learned a lot about sustainable living and the people who live in this area. But Jay and Charlotte were very welcoming and made sure our stay was comfortable. The screened in porch was full of toys and games that kept our kids (and us) occupied for hours. In addition to the fresh fruit cups, all the food Charotte and Jay cooked was exceptional- blueberry coffee cake, a breakfast cake that used the similar spices as carrot cake (cant remember the name, but chef's kiss), quiche, and breakfast casserole. And when one of our kids refused to eat anything with fruit in it, they provided him with cheerios! The rooms were spotless, and the beds were super comfortable. They even served Eggs Benedict for breakfast at our request. The Nautical room was very spacious with a private bath. Very comfortable bed and luxurious bedding and linens. The Doctor's Inn is just minutes from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. For being in a small town, we found no lack of enjoyable things to occupy our time. Good eateries ... American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican ... no shortage of choices. Remember to check out local events. We found a great show playing at Hall Auditorium on the Miami University campus. Harlem 100 featuring Mwenso & The Shakes on their national tour! Wouldn't have thought that. What an amazing blues and jazz performance. It made for an enjoyable evening you would expect in a large city center, only it was in a beautiful country college town. If you are nature lovers, like us, there are two state parks close by, Hueston Woods and Whitewater at Brookville Lake. Go for a walk and enjoy the scenery. If you are wine lovers, talk to Brian, he'll fill you in and might even share a glass (or two or three) with you. What a great place and gracious hosts.

From the second we pulled in, we were treated like we were doing something wrong. We were immediately yelled at about where we parked and where we were standing even though we were on the campsite we had paid for. At one point we were even told we couldn't walk on the grass. Before we even arrived, we carefully read every rule on the campground's website and in the pamphlet they provided. Despite that, management continually made up new "rules" that weren't listed anywhere. It seemed like every few hours there was another restriction that had never been communicated. What made it even worse was the obvious double standard. We observed people smoking marijuana, and another campsite near us was playing loud music well after 11:00 p.m. without anyone saying a word. Yet when our group did anything remotely similar, we were immediately confronted and yelled at. It felt like the rules only applied to us. Management spent more time driving around looking for people to confront than letting guests enjoy their vacation. They walked around at night with a huge flashlight shining into people's vehicles, which felt invasive and unnecessary. Instead of creating a welcoming atmosphere, they created one where everyone was afraid they would be the next person to get yelled at. Before booking, we even called to make sure our large group would be accommodated. We were assured it would be completely fine. Once we arrived, however, it was clear we were no longer welcome. Management complained about our group throughout our stay, despite having approved it beforehand. This wasn't a camping trip, it felt like paying to be constantly monitored and criticized. It was stressful from beginning to end and easily the worst vacation I've ever been on. We will never return, and I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a relaxing camping trip to choose a different campground.

Those same sites are pretty small and you feel like you're right on top of your neighbor. This place is much more accommodating for seasonals. The playground and jump pad are pretty far from most of the nightly sites so the kiddos need their bikes or you need a golf cart. The fishing lake desperately needs stocked. The inflatables at the beach are fun for the kids and we enjoyed the outdoor music, but not sure we'll come back.

With 2 lofts available, you can choose the west loft for a solo or couples getaway (sleeps 2) or the east loft for a group (sleeps up to 4). The lofts are newly remodeled in a historic downtown building. Each loft features a cozy & comfortable king-sized bed, kitchen, dining area, spacious living room, a washer/dryer, and full-size bathroom. You can rent by the night or long term. The living room was one of my favorite spots, with super cozy couches, pillows, a blanket, armchair, games, books to read, and a nice sized smart TV. The stocked kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal or just have something simple. A Keurig and K-cups are provided. The candy dish in the kitchen was a nice, sweet touch. Cleaning supplies & disinfectants were made available in the loft as well. You enter the suites through the front of the building and stairs are used to access them. A backdoor with stairs that lead to the parking lot in the back of the building is available as well if need. A laundry closet features and washer and dryer, laundry basket, and other laundry accessories. The front windows look out unto Route 40, adding lots of natural lights and a quiet view. My stay was quiet and comfortable. It was a perfect little getaway. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Suggestions for cinnamon rolls at King's Cafe (walking distance) and visiting the surrounding shops were appreciated (and delicious).

The kitchen area was sparkling clean and had everything I needed to prepare some dishes for our holiday meal. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of towels! For anyone driving east-west through central Indiana, I'd highly recommend taking U.S. 40 (the Old National Road), exploring historic Cambridge City (lots of great antique stores!), and staying at The Lofts on Main.
