We have booked here for two nights. We chose this hotel for…read moretwo reasons. First, location. It's close to a family gathering during our stay so we chose this for logistics. Second, family has stayed here before and gave the hotel raving reviews. I'm not sure why. Generally the family that gave this hotel raving reviews has a certain level of standards which I would assume would have meant more than our experience. The first room we were given was infested with flies. We killed 10 within minutes and after that 6 more just showed up immediately. So we went down and asked for another room. We were given one with a jacuzzi. No, we have no plans on haul v that and there are several reasons why. The first and second rooms are clean. But, it's clear the hotel is in a serious need of updating and refreshing. Now, I understand a few things about this location. First, it's a small town and what I assume to be a privately ran hotel. On our first night there was maybe 10 people here in a hotel that probably has 100 rooms? So my point here is income probably does not generate the funds necessary to save for dramatic improvements of any scale or variety. Being in a small town there is literally only a few options to stay unless you drive to a bigger city like Richmond closer to an interstate, etc. doing a google search I found three choices in town and this appeared to be the best. Rooms are not that awesome. First room had the aforementioned fly infestation, toilet seat was well used and worn down to what appeared to be black wood underneath. (I hope) Second and first room both had outdated and well worn and in some places town carpet. Rubber molding around the walls near floors were torn away in spots and drywall plaster was cracked or busted in spots in and around corners in bath and other places. Parking lot is dimly lit unless you park right by the building where huge wall lamps give a 1970's incandescent yellow hue of light that somehow bounces off the building good enough to illuminate the front of your car. There are light posts that are from what I can tell the size of a battery powered throw away infomercial lantern. In fact. They are positioned about 30 feet from each other on the exterior of the lot and are most certainly solar powered as they were casting no light at 6 am on anything at all. So, if lot safety is a concern of yours and what I have said already is not enough to turn you off then book away. I believe the rate per night was around $140 and that might have been with taxes and fees.. again. If you are one of three hotels in town you get the luxury of slapping a charge on a rate and seeing if anyone bites. They offer continental breakfast. But, in looking at the quality of the offerings you might be wise to choose coffee or a preserved yogurt cup. I was even skeptical of the coffee as the coffee urns on the bun coffee maker looked like the last time they seen soap and water was before dish washers were invented. I'd skip the pastries and dried cereal which looked stale.. I'd even skip the waffle maker and aerosol can of butter and syrup mix as well. Maybe go try and find the McDonald's or a Cracker Barrel even farther away.. Finally, for the smokers or the smoke smoker haters that are reading this post. This hotel most certainly used to be a smoking hotel. How the peeled off signs on the entry doors and on occasional rooms that have not yet been peeled off state its non smoking. But, as my wife has recently stopped smoking and is keen to smells that never bothered her before.. she can still smell the lingering odors in the room which shout out it has seen decades of cigarette smoke. Just bring some Febreeze and that should tame it down. First nights rest? Well, the rooms are quiet overall, I could not hear talking or television noises from guests next to us. I did hear what sounded like a t-Rex walking around in the room uostairs this morning. I assume hunting for prey for breakfast. Bed slept ok for one that has clearly seen a few decades of use. Sheets are alright. But, clearly are the low end. Comforter is well used and low end. But, it appears all was clean. However I elected not to freak myself out and dig deep on this one for usual things that would creep someone out. I should point out that front desk clerk at check in was nice. We booked through a third party website and she had trouble matching up our credit card with reservation. She was a new clerk though. We did not get the usual questions like make and model and plate number and that kind of thing. But, we did not get any arguments as to switching rooms when we brought up the fly infestation either. Almost like they knew.. But, now that you read this you can make your own choice. It certainly may will give us cause to ask family.. Why did you think it was so nice? Maybe it was at a point in the past. But, now it's just "ok" IMO.

A/C was working great, turned it on then went for supper, gone less than an hour and it was cool enough in room we had to turn the temp up. Had a good night sleep and was able to enjoy the continental breakfast. Seems like about a dozen cars there but it was a weeknight. I would recommend staying there because it is better than driving 30 minutes to a corporate hotel that will charge more. They have improved a lot considering the area has had some layoffs and cutbacks.

The staff is friendly. Housekeeping even wrote us a kind little note left in the room that said "enjoy your stay" with a smiley face. You get a physical key (can ask for 2 per room). Doors lock on their own. Two stories. For the standard room with two beds, the sheets were soft and pillows were super cushy. Plenty of blankets to stay warm. There's a TV with cable and free wifi, although it might take a few tries to connect. There was a mini fridge and microwave in one of our rooms, but the other room was missing a microwave. One of the rooms has a ceiling leak, which is our only real concern. No carbon monoxide detectors in rooms, if you're concerned about that. Some hand soap and another kind of liquid soap is provided with a few towels. The towels are your standard white hotel towel that are super thin and get damp quickly - if they ever upgrade I'd consider getting thicker towels!! The shower/bath tub is pretty big and you can adjust the water pressure between darts of water and a slow drip, and the water temp is good. The room is pretty cold but you can adjust it - bring layers!! They have vending machines and ice. Coffee is provided in the lobby but they no longer have free breakfast due to COVID - not sure when that'll come back if ever. Wal-Mart is conveniently right across the street for all your other needs. Overall enjoyed my stay!

But I was here in the daytime during their regular hours, so I was able to pop inside and check out the Old National Road Welcome Center. The term refers to US-40 that parallels I-70 in some parts, as it does here. Inside, lots of brochures and information about tourist attractions and things to do and see in the Hoosier State. A friendly attendant helped answer some questions and pointed me to some of the displays. The restroom is clean, the information is free and the stop is great. So as we were setting up the camper a staff member came over and gave us bracelets to wear for the weekend. No problem. But we were the only people we saw all weekend with the blue bands on, lol. If you enjoy loud parades of country music blaring golf carts, this is the park for you. ALL weekend long. Now with that being said, once quiet time hit, it was in fact, quiet. I get the feeling this park is mostly seasonal campers and those that are not seasonal are probably frequent campers. There didn't seem to be much communication as far as those of us that are new to this campground. For instance, activities. We happened to spot a small note on a cork board in the office about Bingo. Had we not stopped in for another reason, we would never have seen this. Maybe add an activity board around the restrooms? That way others can learn about the activities if they have no reason to go to the camp store. Another example, there was a town parade for Memorial day. Maybe again, put something on the activities board about that? Not only to let families know there is a parade going by the campground but also to warn campers that if you need to get out, you will not be able to during certain times. I like that they are adding fun things to the park and oh, the water. Beautiful!! Believe it or not, it was unseasonably cold for the end of May. Too cold to get in the water, lol. We hauled our kayaks up here only to not be able to get in the water but that natural spring is what is going to bring us back. I gotta get in that water! Make sure to stop in the camp store about ask about the "treasures" buried underwater. Fascinating. The park was clean; the staff seamed nice. I started out this review with a 3 star but as I got to this point in my writing, I talked myself in to another star. But really, communication for activities is a big deal when camping- consider fixing that. We will 100% be back- just to kayak in the water is reason enough.

The private patio with a grill and fire pit had a view of the water. It was also impeccably clean. Being able to rent a golf cart made traveling around the resort with two kids a breeze. From the beach to the multiple playgrounds, we were able to get anywhere we needed. There are so many amenities as well. The spring fed lake is gorgeous. There is a kids swimming area and a deeper adult swimming area with a swimming mat and a floating dock. If lake swimming isn't for you, there is also a heated pool. We also used the Wibit (floating obstacle course), kayaks, and paddle boats. All the rentals were reasonably priced and were great additions to our stay. The camp store and cafe are great as well. We were able to grab pizza and ice cream during our stay. We will definitely be back.

This B&B is in a classy home, tastefully restored, with stained glass windows on a gorgeous wood staircase. My wife and I stayed two nights for a weekend getaway. The entire place is very clean and smells wonderful. There is a hospitality room for all guests on the second story, with a mini fridge, microwave, and water dispenser. We made use of the mini fridge and microwave to store and reheat leftover dinner. It would have been nice to have coffee available, as well as tea bags, and/or complimentary soda or bottled water. We were provided with yummy desserts on both nights - lemon sugar cookies and then pound cake. Breakfasts are good - plenty of fruit, orange juice and coffee. The entrees were a kind of quiche in a bowl and French toast. Our room on the first floor (Room 1) was cozy and clean and warm, albeit small. The size of our room didn't matter to us, because we were the only guests on Friday and could wander the house and relax in the sitting room to read on a rainy day. The B&B is within 5 minutes of several fast food, local and chain restaurants. We did not explore Richmond too much, but it seems there are nice parks in town and plenty of classy homes to drive by. Within the B&B, there are only a couple board games, but they do have satellite TV in every room. There are several DVDs for borrowing, but our room did not have a DVD player. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, which was relaxing and stress free.

A friend and I stayed at Deer Ridge from the 19th to the 21st of June. We were attending a dog…read moretrial and had to leave early each morning and return in the early evening. Miss Pat and Scott were very welcoming; they even escorted us to our site each day and made sure our RVs were level. Great people, nice quiet campground. And they welcomed my 3 dogs! Steve even went and got two boards to make my unit completely level and said to take them with me for future use. We will definitely be back.
