Do not take your car here. I never write reviews but customer service was horrible from the start coming from the owner. They had my car for over 3 weeks and still could not fix the problem. Jose was rude and also tried to scam me and charge me money on top of my warranty. After I talked to my insurance and they told me they were covering everything except for repairs that had nothing to do with what he submitted then miraculously he ended up saying "it was covered". He is a scam. I picked up my car, took it to Jeep and they had it ready within a few days. It was a waste of time!!!!! Oh and he also killed both my batteries and wanted to charge me for them and also charge me an additional 90$ to install them back in. This shop is a JOKE. He also said he would UN-DO the work he did so I can take it somewhere else. Then backed out. And "forgot" to tell me about several charges. I didn't pay him a dime. read more

Went in because my brake light came on. They told me I need new pads and rotors. Gave me a price and made an appointment for the following day. When I showed up for my appointment they told me the price they gave me was wrong and the actual price was $1200 more than the original quote. Did not leave my car, I feel like I was ripped off from the diag fee and the sudden price change. read more

I did not think a trustworthy mechanic existed anymore then I was referred to them for my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel Truck! Honestly I don't even use Chevy dealer for any repair. I take it strait to these guys. Aside from that not many if any will touch the oil change on my truck. It's almost a dealer only thing. I purchased a car from Carmax which overtime ended up having air suspension issues. M and J are certified CarMax warranty providers so I took my car in. Jose, greeted me as a professional and the shop was small but spotless and all the good signs of a well managed shop were prevalent. Jose, had my repairs authorized by CarMax and took care of ordering parts, repair etc. Unfortunately, the Original car manufacture located in Modesto didn't want to have anything to do with this... since it's warranty work and the dealer wasn't making a penny. The dealer drug this out day by day saying "no parts" available. Jose read through there line of bullshit and began searching other original car dealers and found what he needed in Elk Grove. Taking my Suv here was the best decision ever. Took my suv in for a loud noise and oil change. This was the first time I didn't go to my dealership I was apprehensive but so glad I did it. The free inspection with the oil change saved me $$ right off the top. They found the problem and didn't try to sell me a bunch of other services. Under warranty CarMax sent me over to M&J due to my car shaking at about 70-80mph and a squeaking noise when accelerating around 3-4rpms. Post diagnostic test, the "issue" to the shaking was the Control Arms and the squeaking was overlooked. I test drove the car with Jose who I have been working with and he did not hear the noise but requested me to email videos of the noise which I sent him. Jose explained he will give me a call in 1-2 weeks to schedule an appointment for the Control Arms to be put on. Going on 3 weeks I called him explaining I never received a call or email, he stated he would call me back, and never did. Poor communication was a reoccurring issue, after waiting 3 days I called them and scheduled an appointment for the repair. Long story short the repair timeframe started at 2-3hrs, to the end of the day (only after dropping my car off the morning of), to being contacted the end of the appointment day to hear my car was not completed and needed additional parts, he stated he only found the part from the vin and not the actual vehicle, when my car was there all day. From experience, I knew it was the belt causing the noise which you could also hear from outside the car, explaining this to him, he was firm on "waiting until it got worse". Jose did not make an effort and seemed very lazy with wanting to find the issue. Speaking with Jose later in the day, Jose was very rude and unprofessional. I informed him of the new email of the noise, and he stated he would not watch it, stood firm on his statement, and continued to poorly communicate. After M&J finally finished the installment on 9/2 only after CarMax contacted him, I did not have the chance to test drive my car to see if the problem was gone. Sunday 9/4, with about an hour drive, my car was shaking even more than before. Upon my arrival to destination, barely escaping what could have been an accident, my car's: Battery Light, Check engine light, Traction control and a series of other lights came on and my power steering fluid was minimal to none. My car overheated and shut off completely. Looking under the hood my serpentine belt (what I had been bringing to Jose's attention many times) was broken off, shredded, and the coolant was everywhere. Due to the lack of care for my car, laziness, poor communication and more my car is now in the shop with a bigger issue than it had before. Had these issues been taken seriously, I would not be making this post. Very poor mechanical and customer service. Something that could have cost very little to fix, was pushed off "waiting until it gets worse" could have almost cost me my life. I am beyond disappointed, and my business will not be with M&J anymore. read more

Took my car to M&J and they were prompt to give me a quote, however the quote was about 3x more than any other shop gave. Looked up my own factory parts direct from Chevrolet and they were half the price of what this shop quoted me, passed this info along and was told that's not what they're getting and I can buy the parts myself if I want but then they wouldn't be under the shops warranty. I understand this if parts are after market, but these were for parts direct from Chevy which was supposed to be what they quoted me for. Rep started off very polite but once I didn't sign up for their over priced quote suddenly he got very curt with me. Wasted a whole week of time with the car down in their shop. read more

I came to Modesto from Antioch to house sit for a few months. My hope was to venture on to AZ to see family then to Vegas to see daughter and on to Virginia and New York to see other daughter then to Ohio to see my nephew. Because of all the driving I planned to do I wanted my Jeep in the best shape possible I heard a noise from the back of my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee but no one else heard it. I also had a couple leaks I wanted them fixed. The 2 leaks were easy but when we went on a test drive and finally I wasn't the only one that heard a noise. After a very intense test drive of turns and donuts it was figured out the rear differential was going out. Checking for a used one or rebuilding mine was discussed and we tried to find one that fit my budget. After checking on the condition of them we decided to goo with a rebuilt one with no miles on it. Jose did everything to accommodate me even to the point of getting the credit approval so I could use a specific credit card. I would recommend them to anyone as they really take everything into consideration and put their customers first in many ways. This was done in April 2019 and I left Modesto on April 14th. I'm posting this now as I have been on the road and am in Virginia now. Wish He was here now as my BCM went out and they can't find one here. I'm sure Jose would have found me one. they tried to charge me for items on my car that worked properly. i went in for a diagnostic on a engine issue. they said i needed to replace several different items through the car. i went to another shop and the car was fixed for less than 200.00. please stay away from them. read more
