They worked in tandem with our videographer. They also dealt with our family and friends with courtesy and professionalism when it came to our official photos. We don't have our final photos yet, but she sent us a sneak peek and they are BEAUTIFUL!

Casey sent us sneak peeks whenever she could, and turned the final photos around so much faster than we expected. She even helped me develop a photo schedule for the day of our wedding, which was so helpful. She shared our excitement as we got closer to the wedding and we had the best time with her on our wedding day. I don't know how she took photos from 2:30-11pm, but she documented our day from start to finish and had a smile on her face the entire time. She's great at making you feel like you are sooo lucky to have her as a photographer. She charges $5700 for an engagement photo shoot, 8 hours of photography on day of with 2 shooters (herself and a friend). We were traveling from out of town for the engagement photos. It took multiple emails (like 5) to get her to respond to a date that could work for us so that we could buy our flights. Our engagement photos weren't great. She tends to shoot from below, which wasn't the best angle for my husband or me. There's very little direction from her (I.e. put your hand on his chest). She does do a good job of feeling like the photos she's taking are fabulous during the shoot. On the day of, she likes to claim that she "takes charge" which I thought I'd like. She's not lying, she takes charge but doesn't pay attention to the schedule. She made me 30 min late to my own wedding bc she was taking pics and not paying attention to the time. My family actually said they thought I was getting cold feet. I kept giving her the benefit of the doubt but we finally got our photos over 3 months after the wedding. I cried when I got them, and not for a good reason. The photos are terrible. They're unedited.....there's trash in the background of my bridal portraits that she chose to not edit out. She put a filter on all of them but it just washes us out. I do not have a single one of my mom and me that's in focus. She took a million of my husband and me but I can't find one that I like. It is truly disappointing. I don't have a single photo from cocktail hour, no photos of our signature cocktail signs, no photos of our beverage napkins. It's like she was just shooting random things that aren't in focus. To top it off, multiple people came up to me and asked who my photographer was bc she was so crabby during the day. I will be asking her to edit our photos...tbd. I would never recommend Mishelle.

I don't think it's always been this way with Mishelle but I believe the quality of service/work has gone downhill and it should be noted for the prices being paid. Non responsive up until wedding day and multiple ignored messages. When we did talk I could barely get a word in or share our vision. Showing up late/distracted on wedding day. Didn't get many of the family portraits that were outlined, odd angles/lighting/bad editing/blurriness in photos that doesn't seem normal for a 15+ year experience photographer. While I will say there are some good photos, overall we were disappointed in our experience and the delivered work for the amount paid. There are many many anecdotes I could share that reflect our experience but overall, the day and 'edited' images reflected a lack of passion, care, or attention to detail. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but for a once in a lifetime event, the photographer experience is very important and unfortunately Mishelle missed the mark.

From the first email we shared, I have never waited more than a day for a response. Even when she was on her own honeymoon, she managed to send me a "Ack, I am out of town! But, when I get back I will send you the pricing info! " email. That is so helpful to a bride who is planning at all hours of the night (because, honestly, what bride doesn't plan at 2am?) - Alison is organized and thorough. I got all the information about pricing, albums, expectations and requests up front. Our initial meeting with Alison left us feeling completely comfortable in her hands since she was on top of her game. I never had to worry once we decided to utilize her talents! - Alison makes the pre-wedding and day of wedding run so smoothly. She helped me craft a pristine wedding schedule of events and was an expert at keeping us on track during the actual wedding without being bossy or pushy. She arrived on time and ready to shoot and kept the mood light and worry free! She even reminded me to eat (thanks Alison!) so I wouldn't pass out when walking down the aisle. She brought snacks with her, in case I didn't have any. During the day, she blended into the background and I barely even noticed her stealthily snapping shots during the ceremony and dinner. - Alison got my proofs back to me in a month and boy, are they STUNNING! The final product from our day is exactly what we wanted -- relaxed, candid, bright and thoughtful images of the best day of our lives. She caught every detail, every smile, every bouquet of flowers and edited the group down to 550 of the most beautiful pictures. I've just been skipping through them for the 5th time in a day and I am completely in love. Thrilled doesn't even begin to describe what I am about these pictures! I can't wait to pick out the photos I want for our album and work with Alison to create that heirloom piece. I was a neighbor of Julie at Wally Spice and babysat her boys when I was a teenager, and always…read moreadmired her work. When I became engaged to my husband, there was no question who I would ask to be our wedding photographer - I had seen her phenomenal work throughout the years and wouldn't trust my big day with anyone else. Julie did not disappoint. She even flew out to Washington DC to take our engagement pictures (on a weekend it reached 90+ degrees nonetheless) and captured some amazing shots. She really has a sense of the best angles to take with each setting and directs you in a way that still looks completely natural in the pictures. The pictures from our wedding were even more fabulous. We did a photo shoot at my parents' house, an urban shoot in downtown Detroit and Belle Isle, and of course more at the ceremony/reception venue. We have fantastic shots from each of the photo shoots, and had a terribly hard time choosing which to put in an album out of all the pictures we had (it literally took us over a year to select all the pictures!). All around, Julie's photos are gorgeous - I'm so glad we didn't look anywhere else for a wedding photographer! Not only are the pictures great, but she is wonderful to work with; very easy going, flexible, but also has some great suggestions based on her experience. She also does great portraits - we did a photo shoot of our dog (yes, we are THOSE kind of people) and I can't tell you how cute our baby looks (and I also can't tell you how Julie worked her magic and got her to stay still - every picture we have taken of her ourselves is a blurry mess!). Julie also took some photos of our dog. I wasn't so sure how well that would go: she's a fidgety little thing and unless she's sleeping, I've never got a photo of her that wasn't blurry. One thing that I appreciated hearing from her is that anytime I needed a break, I could let her know. That gave me a lot of ease and I felt comfortable telling her when I needed a break or when things were too much. She's very intuitive in that way. She let the bridal party take breaks and she checked in with me when needed about what was next. She worked well with other vendors. Her close up photography is outstanding with details...ties, jewelry, vows, you name it. Outstanding and incredible. Overall, communication was decent leading up to the wedding. She reliably responded to emails within 24 hrs business day which I appreciated because many of my vendors weren't that way. The not so good: Holly uses a clunky program to communicate via email with her clients. Even though she reliably responded within 24 hours, searching our emails with her and viewing things like our invoice and our contract was a pain. You have to create usernames and passwords, and reading previous emails with her were a mess to search and read. Her program isn't user/client friendly. I am totally 100% for businesses to document things in writing so I get why she uses the program, but it's just a poor program. The best case in point about this is that the program automatically generated an email to my fiance and I about a due final payment to be paid online. At first we thought this was helpful so we faithfully paid the remaining balance online. But then we got a panicked email from Holly saying our contract says we needed to pay cash or check and that there are huge service fees for paying credit card. It ended up being a huge pain for both us and Holly to figure out...we were irritated (as was she!) About the fact that we were asked to pay online by credit card. When I pay...I don't generally look back at the contract and read the fine print about whether to pay cash or check...not when I'm juggling multiple vendors and multiple contracts and payment due dates. The contract in it of itself is not easily accessible without having to dig In a myriad of emails to find the login for the website and then actually login. Finally, Holly's pricing covers up to 8 hours of photography. At the end of the day I kind of wish I went with a photographer that covered whole day photography instead. We had to pay an extra hefty sum to get Holly to stay and take pictures of our reception and our sparkler exit. The reception pictures we had to pay extra for were golden and so treasured because there were things that went on during our reception that we didn't even know but she captured wonderfully. The sparkler photos were kind of a disappointment and didn't look great (people were too spaced out, the framing of the photos were poor). The extra money we had to pay for Holly to stay a couple extra hours were worth it mostly for the dancing photos and group photos she took, but definitely not the sparkler photos...which kind of made me wonder if it would have been better for us to pay for a photographer that included whole day services. Overall we do recommend Holly as she is a great day of photographer. There are a couple things we wished were different but nothing absolutely groundbreaking. We received our photos about 1-2 months after our date and there were about 1,000 photos! Some of them were duds as expected but some will end up on the wall!

Looking through our gallery, there were of course the fantastic formal photos and more guided shots, but my absolute favorites were all of the other shots, the in the moment shots. She does a great job of capturing people in their best light, even when they're not posing. Based on how flawless our engagement shoot with her went and how stressed I (the bride) was on the day of our wedding, we were a little nervous about the pictures. The engagement shoot was so smooth and we vibed together so well. The wedding day was very overwhelming and we both were worried that it would show on our faces. But every time Melissa was around (which was often thank goodness!), we were both immediately more calm. We had to pause looking through the gallery because they were too good and we were crying too much. We cannot recommend Melissa more! She is top of the line, folks!!!!! For what it's worth, we are both 29, got married in East Lansing / Grand Ledge Michigan, and bought "The Ultimate Package" (which was super worth it!!)
