I was referred to A1 by a friend of mine who used A1 a few years ago for her new windows. The installers were very polite. The supervisor inspected each installed window with me to make sure I was satisfied. When I asked about the caulking on one of the windows, the supervisor brought over the installer to redo it and then got the installer to check all the other windows to ensure they were OK by the time I inspected the windows with the supervisor. All I can say is wow!

At the initial consult, Rob generously answered all our questions and advised us on how to plan our new windows using his extensive knowledge. The hard-working crew even installed on a freezing day with snow. We want to thank Jatin, Sultan, Ranjit, Aman, Gurdeep and Rai. Our interior carpenter was impressed by the quality of the window framing. The new triple glaze windows have improved our house's appeal and made the house quieter and warmer. No longer is there any humidity accumulation on the inside window glass or sill. Extremely satisfied with A1 Windows, highly recommend!

They actually ended up outsourcing it to another company who had 2 people for 3 hours doing the install. They installed the door flush with the interior wood frame wall, not the drywall, meaning that the door is sticking out too far on exterior, and extra work had to be done to mask the interior issues. French doors - the jam/frame is not rigid, is completely flexible which is a nightmare to install. They need to make the frame rigid, by having a wood core with fibreglass exterior. It seems like just cheap plastic and the frame now is not straight. Management does not seem to care about customers and does not want to hear feedback on products.

In the last year or two they decided to no longer include any screens in their windows or do any…read morework on the screen portion of their windows. This may not impact everyone, and is not complicated work, but it means that anyone who wants screens in their windows has to contact an entirely different company to custom build screen frames to install on their windows. This is not particularly difficult, but should go hand-in-hand with the window construction. It would be extremely easy, quick, and inexpensive for them to handle this (as almost any other window company will) - ensuring at the same time that screen frames match the windows in both design, colour and size without any extra fuss. I did find the people I dealt with to be very polite, and it is quite possible that they are very good at the rest of the work they do, but as the screens were a key part of the work I needed done, I found their new policy disqualified them from being of any help whatsoever in my case.

In such situations I'm lucky enough to have a know it all neighbor who actually does know it all. Over to Bill's Glass I went, broken window under my arm and a head calculating how long I'd have to eat instant noodles to pay for this repair (answer: 18.5 weeks). As it turns out, the process was shockingly simple and affordable. They looked at the window, told me a price (much lower than my fearful guess) and he said I should go get some lunch and come back in 45 minutes. Whaaaaaaaaaat? 45 minutes? Lunch? "Ok, I can do that" and do that I did. Tummy filled with food I came back to find my window repaired and I was on my way. The End.

An antique store across the street sent me to Bill's when I asked about replacement. The young man with whom I initially spoke was awesome - I told him what I was looking for and the approximate size and he gave me a very reasonable quote. I assured him that any old piece of mirror would do - the antique I had was relatively small and I was looking for a quick-and-dirty solution to my haphazard hanging job. About a week later I came in and picked up my mirror, which looked great. I paid in cash and they took $5 off so I paid exactly what I was quoted. Quick, affordable, reliable, cheerful service from a mom-and-pop business. I'd definitely go back.
