My friend Rachelle O. had done a full session at DSP and also highly recommended her. Spring/Summer 2021 is the time for fresh new photos! I had a photoshoot lined up with Mariah Ann Photography and Veronica was immediately the first one I thought of to take care of my hair and makeup. It was simple to book with her via this Yelp business page, do a phone consult and retainer payment via Venmo (remainder paid when services rendered). Unfortunately, the late May shoot had to be rescheduled last minute [photographer] and Veronica gracefully was able to accommodate the new early June date and time, appointment was in the afternoon the day of my shoot. Veronica was very responsive with any communication (Yelp, IG, phone/text), which I appreciate. My portraits shoot was going to be outdoors (Old Sacramento) in the late afternoon/early evening so the hair and makeup had to be ready to withstand any wind/breeze and heat/sun. I showed her a photo of the floral cold-shoulder maxi dress I was planning on wearing to get an idea of the color scheme (to match makeup palettes) and what hairstyle would work best. First was the hair -- we went for beachy waves rather than full curls, and pinned twists in the back, sort of half-up instead of a total updo, no braids this time. Set with hairspray after letting that settle a bit, I loved the soft, romantic, flowy look she achieved! I let down the pins but next-day the soft waves still look great. Next stage was the makeup, also such an amazing job! Smoky eye, winged liner, bottom waterline liner, thicker eyebrows, false eyelashes, concealer, foundation, contouring, blush, a berry/pink matte lipcolor with some moisturizing color on top, and a rose-scented setting spray to lock it all in! It was such a "wow" transformation/makeover, dramatic but all for better effect in photos. We even stepped outside to make sure it was all looking great (color matching, etc.). I love how it all turned out, and can't wait for the photoshoot images to come back for the final look. Veronica was so sweet, I'm so happy I decided to work with her for this occasion. Stacia has never disappointed me. She's been cutting my hair for over ten years and it always looks great. My favorite thing about the way she cuts hair is that it also always grows out well because she understands the geometry of hair and takes the time to do it right. Also, this is not my first make up artist I've hired so I have done this multiple times all without hiccups. My prior make up artists were in the bay area or LA area. This was the worst experience ever. I submitted a yelp submission back in October for my graduation ceremony on 12/14/23. The contact information has name, email, what type of an event, date of the event, phone number, location address. My email, phone number and location address are all correct. Shana wrote a draft response on 10/27/23 but left it in her drafts. She finally sent me a reply on 10/30/23. I reply same day on 10/30/23 asking for a 10:00 am appointment. Shana replies on 11/01/23 asking if I can do 11:00 am. I respond on 11/01/23 with a yes and ask if anything else is needed. Shana replies on 11/01/23 putting me down for 12/14 @ 11:00 am offering hair services as well. I response on 11/02/23 asking to please book both. I receive no response after. I email on 12/05/23 asking if she received my earlier email and asked for a confirmation of the make up session on 12/14. Shana emails me on 12/07/23 with time and date and finally rate. On the day of my appointment as I am getting ready to go to her studio she emails me on 12/14/23 saying she "assumed" I don't need services. I send three emails and have called but she did not answer. #1 My understanding is that a make up artist goes to the location address inputted. Also, prior make up artists I have hired have done so. But apparently not at this one. #2 If you really wanted to do make up at 11:00 am you would have answered the phone. It would have been better if you just were honest and told your clients you couldn't do their make up. #3 There are technology issues. Hiring an assistant or using a different way to schedule would work. Who knows how many others had issues like this. I find it odd there aren't any real recent reviews as well. Full review: As a bride who doesn't typically wear makeup or do anything with her hair, the idea of finding someone to do hair and makeup and then having it be hundreds of dollars was difficult for me. I've heard (and seen) how some wedding makeup could easily go wrong, so I knew I was looking for two things: I wanted someone who was familiar with a variety of skin tones and who specializes in more of a natural look. Affordability was also a must as I knew I wanted to pay for at least makeup for all my bridal party. At first glance, the pricing seemed a little high, which I understood since she comes with a lot of experience. I spent a lot of time reviewing and deliberating if I could afford/wanted to spend that much on hair and makeup. Christi and I then discussed what I really wanted done, who else needed hair/makeup done, and how I could work within her packages + add ons price structure to have the services I wanted while staying within my budget. Christi was very easy to talk to and we were able to work it out. She even offered to do complimentary touch ups on my mom (who insisted on doing her own makeup) to help elevate her look, to which my mom accepted. The Trial is a must. I'm sure everyone tells you this, but do the trial. The trial went well, but it was definitely needed. It gave me an opportunity to talk to Christi about what I wanted and what I liked/disliked. It also gave her an opportunity to see what did and didn't work with my hair. Not going to lie, the trial makeup was beautiful but not perfect. You could see a little bit of darkness under my eyes (mostly from wiped away makeup) and she used a lip color I had brought but didn't love. I talked to Christi about this and she reassured me that neither would be an issue on wedding day. Just in case, I made sure to bring a couple different lip options for the wedding, but she had her own and it looked great. She also gave me a little lip present to keep and use throughout the day. I was also worried about my hair holding since it typically doesn't, but both the makeup and hair lasted all night! One more thing to add that was a really great about Christi, she stayed until after the ceremony. A lot of hair and makeup artists leave right after you're done getting ready in the morning. She didn't. She met us at the hotel and did the bulk of it there, and then she traveled to our venue to do finishing touches after we were all in our dresses. THEN she did additional touch ups after our ceremony and helped me replace my veil with a bow. Overall, that helped so much with the nerves and everything. Oh, and everything was right on schedule! She did my best friend's makeup, who doesn't normally wear makeup, and made her look timeless, classic, stunning and exactly herself just elevated. She knows her stuff!!!! Trust her!!!! And she gave me fantastic product recommendations, was totally available by text before the wedding to communicate and ask questions. The atmosphere was friendly and bright, although I like my spas to be a little bit darker and more serene. I was a bit nervous about the whole procedure but Kelly (I'm pretty sure that was her name!) was super nice and friendly! I was taken to a room where I had to seriously take off everything and wait for her all while being covered with two lil towels(eeek!). This being naked in front of a stranger thing is much easier after a long night of binge drinking... but I won't get started on that. Anyhow! She exfoliated my whole body with some sort of salt scrub, it really felt amazing. Afterwards I put my robe on and went into an other room where I jumped in a spaceship pod thing! She then put a seaweed mud wrap all over me and closed the pod. This thing was so rad.. it would vibrate and the temperature went up to 118 degrees! I stayed in there for 30 minutes. It was so relaxing I was very close to falling asleep a couple of times... but I was a lil worried that maybe I was actually fainting not sleeping because of the heat ha! Anyhow, this is an amazing way to detox after a week long drinking binge! I ended up sweating all the vodka away! I then took a quick shower to get all sparkly clean and this was followed with some body oil that she massaged on me. The whole experience was very different and fun! I want to try to come back again... this is a good way to shed that extra water weight some of us might be holding on to. I followed this up with hot yoga, what an amazing detoxifying routine!

From the very beginning, the process was a mess -- multiple cancelations, last-minute substitutions, and poor communication. This forced us to spend extra time and money traveling, scrambling, and stressing over what was otherwise one of the happiest days of our lives. My wife's wedding day was marred by the lack of reliability and professionalism from Morgan and her team. When my wife raised these concerns directly, Morgan actually acknowledged the countless mistakes and admitted the process had been mishandled. But instead of taking accountability in any meaningful way, she flat-out refused to offer any monetary compensation. The only "solution" she proposed was store credit or a complimentary service -- which is insulting. After going through all of this, why on earth would we ever go back? I think the worst part was her attitude when we called to complain, she admitted fault, she knew we would expect compensation (but didn't offer it), but she didn't seem to be sorry...just upset and defensive and what's not what you want when dealing with your wedding. This experience caused us unnecessary stress and financial loss.
