I received a hair wash, gloss, trim, blow dry: $205 Good: Only place that listened to me when I said I want a VERY LIGHT trim (split ends only). Everywhere else wants to chop off my long hair. She did a great job trimming. Bad: 1) Overcharged me for "10 extra minutes" even tho she left me mid-wash to go on her phone in the other room. I assumed the gloss had to sit for a while. 2) She didn't ask if I wanted my hair natural, styled, or blow dry. She just assumed I wanted natural. 3) I asked for volumous blow dry but she was in a rush so it came out a bit flat. My hair came out pretty, but I wish she listened better and didn't rush. I had an appointment today that I booked weeks ago with my stylist. The salon called to canceled 30 min before my appointment. Its a few days before the holidays and they wanted to book me out after the new year. I'm extremely disappointed because this is usually my favorite place to go. Miguel is a rockstar! I have been on and off desiring a pixie cut for a few months. I was planning on going all the way back to San Jose to have a stylist I am comfortable with do it. I decided I couldn't wait anymore because my hair was getting unruly and it wasn't worth waiting. I took the huge risk of seeing a stylist I never met at a salon I never even set foot in, and wow, my only regret is not going sooner. I showed Miguel a handful of photos and he made some suggestions. I was really nervous about making the big change. I ended up with a really unique style that is fairly low maintenance. I will be sure to post photos soon. Miguel listened to everything I had to say. When he was done, there were a few tiny adjustments I wanted and he made them no problem. I heard about this salon through a friend of mine who does microblading there, Shelby, and I thought it would be alright to take a risk and just walk in with some base ideas of how i wanted my hair styled. I was put with Rachael for my hair needs, and I have to say, for how little I was able to bring to the table about my needs and desires, Rachael helped bring all my ideas to reality. The color is absolutely spot on, and she was able to even out and layer the rest of my hair (that I chopped up very badly by myself at home a few months ago) without making me feel like a loser. I usually refrain from writing bad reviews and Tatiana is very nice; however, she did a very poor job with my balayage. My hair was over processed with the bleach and the color she toned my hair initially was not the color I wanted (or the color I showed her in the many pictures I brought in). She had to bleach wash my hair -damaging it further- and then toned it another color I didn't want. I came in again the next day to voice my disappointment only to be met with Tatiana and her colleague telling me that my hair is very beautiful and that I should like the work she did. I paid $225 (not to mention the tip) and now only three weeks later my hair is more damaged then its ever been. It's breaking off in large chunks from being over-bleached, the toner has completely faded away (which is crazy because I only wash my hair every few days and with a color safe shampoo. Toner should last at least 6-8weeks not 3!), and the tips of my hair were so extremely damaged I had to spend more money to cut off 4 inches of hair. read more

It's taken a week for me to compose myself, after a wig-snap that has eviscerated my love life and frightened my children. Take it from a guy who endured 8 years of Marine Corps bone-scrapes and another 15 years of barber shop speed-skizzes. The part about being relieved of $45 in fiscal power is the least of it. The place is nice, it bustles, and everybody seems really nice. My stylist - my destroyer, really - was pleasant and had no adverse odors. However, at this price range I expected a laser-like critical analysis of my hairborne dreams, and instead I look like a cross between Alfalfa in the Lil' Rascals and Ragnar in "The Vikings". The reason I give the extra star - more than one, in other words - is because I have calculated that there is an economic multiplier effect from this haircut, since I had to sprint to my psychiatrist for some self-image work. He wore a welder's mask and said I actually look okay, which has helped me a lot during this difficult time. read more

My hair needs are routine--keep my hair from showing gray and a professional cut. Stacia's great, but eventually she gave me over to an assistant for the routine color work while she focused on her other customers. Lately I haven't been able to get on her schedule (tried through online booking, no availability). I'm going start looking around. Prices seem high for the results I've been getting. $80 for a color touchup / no highlights/ no lowlights/ no blowdry. Basically filling in the color. I just noticed the fill-in color doesn't even match the rest of my hair. Adding a cut brings it to $150 pre-tip. I have had the color fade after a few days on a couple of occasions. I'm not getting the happy results other reviewers are raving about, esp. for the price. The salon used to offer a service for touching up and go but I don't see that booking option anymore. I'm glad other people are able to get a good cut for $40ish but that wasn't my experience. BTW, Nelson does amazing haircuts (both me and my son's hair). He's been great. read more

For the last couple of years I've been going to Style Lounge since I heard it was the best in the area. It wasn't until I was force to find someplace new, I gave Pomegranate a try. But, first things first.... I'm really picky. I've been to $80+ mens hair salons and a bounced quite a bit around the $30 to $40 range. Typically I ask if the stylist has had experience in men's hair and asian hair in particular. The stylist had experience in both. All in all, was it the best hair cut I've gotten, no one by my guy in LA does it the way I like it (but he's had years with me) -- Pomegranate, IMHO is the best I've had in Davis so far. read more

I saw Stacia for a hair cut. The cut was mediocre and the final styling was nothing great. I went on a saturday and she seemed to be triple booked all day. The whole process was very rushed and I just didn't get that 'salon" experience. I don't know if this was a very off day and I just got lost in the shuffle or this is how my hair would be cut if she had a ton of time to spend with me. Anyways, I don't think my overall impression of the place matched the hyped up expectations presented here on yelp. For the price the ambiance and experience was not worth it. I have been to Pomegranate Salon three times and this morning was my fourth time. It's kind of expensive for $60 a haircut sans tip, but it's definitely definitely worth every penny by any definition. And I should know. Two times I've tried going to other salons in Davis with decent reviews and about $30-40 a haircut, and every time I've had to re-book an appointment with Pom Salon the same day or ASAP to get it fixed. That's a lot of money wasted. So now I just go to Pom Salon. The first time I got my hair cut by Natasha, two times after that I got my hair cut by Amber, and today I got Noel. All three were excellent; I just book appointments based on what time I'm free. I come in with a few pictures, looking like a mess, and I walk out with the exact haircut I want every time. Some people go to cheap places to get their hair cut because they don't think there's that big of a difference between an average and a GOOD hair cut, but you really have to go to a place like Pomegranate Salon to realize how big of a difference it really is. The only part that sucks is that now I actually know the difference between a really skilled and an average hair cutter- which means I can never go to a cheap place ever again. But it also means my hair always looks ahmahzing. Even though Natasha and Amber were great, I have to say Noel is my favorite so far. She's super sweet, gives kick-ass head massages, and has ridiculously awesome hair-cutting skills. Amber and Natasha were really good too, but Noel is something different. She's the type of person who loves what she does and is far above average at doing it. Like an NBA player vs. a collegiate player. I got a slightly A-line, slightly asymmetrical bob. When she was done with my hair, she said she was really excited to show me the back of my hair and I was a little confused because usually the back of everyone's head looks about the same after a haircut right? So I was mentally processing how I could genuinely look impressed because I didn't want to offend her, but then she handed me a mirror and I saw it and I was genuinely. impressed. I can't describe technically why it was impressive, but it was just. beautiful. Like every strand of hair was cut exactly how it should be. My mind feels like blowing every time I think about it. I L.O.V.E. M.Y. H.A.I.R. I wrote an essay. Sorry. But that shows how amazing this place is and how amazing Noel is because I usually don't Yelp but I feel like I need to spread the word. First of all - I was able to get an appointment within 24 hours when I called Thanksgiving week. Yay! Their salon is very cute; sunny and clean, with cute dogs running around greeting customers. I have been trying to grow out my very short hair all summer, and finally decided it needed some professional attention. Kellie was super helpful and only charged me half-price for a quick trim. I had no idea what I wanted and was nervous because I had never been here, nor seen any reviews on here for the stylist I had an appointment with (Nelson); HOWEVER- I am extremely pleased with the attention to detail he had and instinct for what to do for my hair. He was very careful in making sure each part of the haircut was fit to my needs and what /I/ wanted. I have had my hair cut and colored at Pomegranate Salon three times now and I have been pleased with the results each time. Stacia did both my cut and color each time. She is very good at what she does. She listens and makes constructive suggestions when I come up with something goofy that won't work for my hair type. I recently decided to cut my hair short - an a-line bob - and it turned out great! I have received many compliments on my new 'do. Three of my colleagues are now going to Pomegranate as well - they are happy and their hair looks great too! My only complaint is that it is on the pricey side. I love how my hair turned out, but what makes me even more excited is that I found such an awesome salon in Davis (I just moved here). Everyone I ran into at the salon was super friendly, and the whole place was decorated beautifully with great natural lighting! It is obvious that a lot of love and care has been put into creating a relaxing atmosphere -- both with the decor and friendly staff. It is also obvious that they highly value their clients, and are willing to take the extra time to give each person who comes in exactly what they are looking for. I don't think I've ever posted a negative review before, but I'm so frustrated with Nathalie's service. She was supposed to correct my hair color due to me attempting to color my own hair during the pandemic. She charged me the most I've ever paid for hair and then said she'd have to finish the service with a second session and it would be included in the cost of what I paid. She also mentioned she could book an appointment on weekends since that works better with my schedule. When she got back to me as to the second appointment, she back tracked on having the second appointment included in the cost of what I already paid. She also said she couldn't do weekend appointments. I knew I shouldn't have paid everything upfront and I she affirmed my hesitancy. Do not go here!! Such poor communication. read more

My experience at Pom Salon was just so-so. I had my hair cut by Hannah and it looked okay. I asked for a lot of sexy layers and she didn't put many in and it looked kind of boxy (more a "shelf"). It wasn't terrible, but I was disappointed in the cut, especially for the money. She seemed to really know a lot about coloring and gave me some great recommendations including one about demi-permanent color which is temporary. It was great to know this was an option since I don't want to go dark permanently and lifting dark color is apparently very difficult. I've never had any hairdressers mention this before (and I've inquired a lot). I appreciated that she was thinking about the effects this would have on my hair and not just diving into permanent color! So, based on my experience, I recommend her as a colorist, she really seems to know her business, but not for cut. read more

Big fan of this place! Tara cuts and colors my hair and always does a consistent, amazing job. I only started going for all over color this year, so it was with great relief that Tara is soooo good at color! She put in beautiful highlights that show when I run my hands through my hair or put it up, not just cookie-cutter streaky up front ones. She's got a great eye for it. She also does a great job with the post-cut style! I have to remember to actually schedule my hair before an event or a date, as I feel like my awesome style is wasted on my roommate and people in the grocery store on errand day. As someone who has never committed herself to a salon EVER, I think I may have found a place where I will come more than one time. Whenever I got highlights, I would never truly be happy with the result-some times were better than others, but I have never been WOWED/that impressed. Most recently I got my highlights done at Salon Bravissimo in Sacramento (mainly because I liked the woman who does my eyelashes there), and the results were okay, but today I went to get highlights here from Olivia, and OMG these highlights were the BEST I have ever had done! Olivia actually listened to what I wanted and did her best to achieve it-which she did! I am very happy with the results, and cannot wait to see the magic she does on my hair when I come in next time to finish the process. I truly am obsessed with my hair now-IT LOOKS SO GOOD. I just wanna flaunt it everywhere! Pomegranate's environment is relaxing and the staff are all very welcoming. I went here for the first time about two months ago to take my brunette hair to an icy blonde balayage, and Noel nailed it. She paid so much attention to detail; there isn't a strand of hair she colored incorrectly. I don't think I've ever met someone so invested making sure my hair looked perfect (including me). Not to mention she's the perfect amount of talkative. I was completely comfortable sitting in her chair for 3+ hours while she slaved away over my hair.
