Did a great job replacing my shutters for a fair price. Would hire them again and recommend.

This experience was unexpected, especially since I had previously used Miguel's services to install several cameras, and that transaction went very smoothly. Approximately one year later, I contacted the company to have the cameras reset, as I did not have a ladder tall enough to reach them, and to install an under-cabinet ducted vent hood. The microwave previously installed in that location had already been removed, the duct opening was prepared for the vent hood installation, a 120V receptacle was already in place, and no electrical work was required. All of this was explained before the job was accepted, and I confirmed the quoted cost for both services on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, there were several instances where Miguel did not arrive for scheduled appointments and failed to notify me that he would not be coming. This continued for approximately a week and a half until he unexpectedly arrived one day. He successfully reset the cameras; however, when it came time to install the vent hood, he stated, "The office quoted me the wrong price, and I charge $250 per hour because I am a technician." He also mentioned that his teenage daughter had accompanied him. I had not hired or agreed to pay for an additional person to assist with the work. Miguel then refused to complete the installation at the quoted price and requested an additional amount equal to 100% increase of the original quote, effectively doubling the cost. I declined and paid only for the camera reset service that had been completed. I am disappointed by the lack of professionalism and poor communication. Had there been unforeseen issues or additional work required, I would have understood. However, that was not the case here. If there was a pricing discrepancy, it should have been communicated before the appointment, giving me the opportunity to decide whether to proceed. Increasing the price on the day of service, without justification, is not a professional business practice. Based on my experience and some of the other reviews I have read, this appears to be a recurring issue. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company. read more

We needed our gutters and our dryer vent cleaned. Mr. Handyman arrived on the day scheduled, and did a great job. The dryer vent is clear and the gutters look pristine. The cost was higher than I wanted. After 2 or 3 failed attempts to hire a local handyman it was a relief to deal with an insured, bonded, responsive company. It was worth a bit of financial pressure to finally have the job done and done well. read more

I hired MD Handyman to replace the door to my crawlspace. On inspection he said he could repair it instead of replacing it. This impressed me as an honest response. The job was scheduled and completed on time and to my satisfaction. I do feel the job shouldn't have been as expensive as it was thus four stars. read more

I just needed some problem LVP flooring fixed. The guys arrived on time and did the job for a lot less than the estimate. They did a fantastic job! Floor looks great. I would definitely recommend and I would hire them again. read more

This is the trustly handyman company that I know, professional services, honest. They can do everything I need in our community.

We have hired MD Handyman multiple times and are always satisfied with the cost / value proposition and outcome. The first job they did for us was remove an old sliding glass door and install a new one. This job was much more involved than I expected (I know because I watched them do it!) but they worked steadily and diligently to get the job done. The framing wasn't an exact fit but they did their best to make adjustments for the previous molding to match the newly installed door. They went above and beyond the quoted job to address any concerns I had (including some that were me not communicating my wants adequately) and never up-charged without consent and a clear explanation. Based on our experience with the door installation, we hired them for a round of additional jobs several months later that included: - power washing the exterior of our house - cleaned our gutters - correcting the installation of a roof exhaust vent (initially installed by someone else) - repairing / replacing various bits of rotten wood / woodpecker damaged wood on the exterior of our home - repairing / replacing various deck boards - re-painting our deck - address concerns of leaking pipes in a guest room over our garage - fixing a broken exterior light fixture - fixing a broken interior light fixture - fixing various bits of molding around our garage door - patching various holes / cracks in our driveway / exterior area around where we have a lot of water drainage, pursuant to supporting said drainage - having a load of junk hauled away - having some toppers installed on some hand-rails on our back deck - repairing / repainting all of the wooden shutters on our house (I think they did 20 of them) While we had to work to understand each other, they had an employee who was fluent in English to help translate whenever the discussion required it. We exchanged lots of photos (I probably sent 27, the more the better to help them understand the requests) before meeting in person to confirm the work list and an initial estimate. We also extensively e-mailed throughout the course of the job. I get a little wordy (can you tell?) but they were always patient and polite with me. On our first job we provided the materials, on this job they sourced the materials. There were additional (expected, no surprises) costs for the materials. They did a great job sourcing materials including having paint mixed to match as best the store could. For some of the job (such as the concerns of leaking pipes) they actually talked me down from having extensive work done (the problem was not as bad as I thought). They could have just done what I asked and charged more but instead they essentially talked themselves out of work, which really underlines how honest they feel. We are really satisfied with all the work they've done and will continue to use them. I think it is possible to find a service with more exacting standards, and I'm sure that service charges top-dollar as well. MD Handyman strikes the right balance between cost and quality to continue getting all of our home-repair work for the foreseeable future. read more

I hired MD Handyman Service to replace rotting (at ground level) elevated deck supports and the bottom of the deck stairs. They replaced all eight 4x6 deck supports, removed the rotting bottom stair and stringers section, replacing deck supports with 6x6 posts set on new concrete footings, replaced the bottom step with a concrete step and set the now rot-free end of the stringers in concrete. They also identified a couple of other rotting areas, replacing them with new wood. All work was performed to perfection and post-construction cleanup was immaculate. The crew was friendly, meticulous in their workmanship, and professional in every way. I will definitely hire them again without hesitation for any future repair projects and I highly recommend them. read more

I called them in to do some cosmetic fixes for a customer of mine. Miguel and his team did a good repair, when all was over. However, he forgot to come to the estimate visit until I called and was ultimately 6 hours late to that appointment. We agreed on a slight discount for that inconvenience. Then he completely missed the actual repair appointment the following week, and would not respond to phone calls. He ended up rescheduling for the next day, but not before the customer had waited around all day, frustrated and impatient. When asked for a further discount because of these latest inconveniences, Miguel refused. Miguel's lack of professionalism and good communication unnecessarily angered my customer and reflected poorly on my company. I will not be contacting him again for service and I recommend that you find someone else as well. read more

I had a window fixed on 08/11/20 through MD Handyman Service. They did a great job caulking the window from the water damage with slight mold. They even went through the trouble of heading to the store and getting paint for the wall afterwards. I would recommend the service. The only downside is the communication with the coordinator. Very minor compared to other things that make such worthwhile. The price was great for the work done. read more

A friend recommended MD Handyman and I am so glad!! When we bought our house we wanted to paint the entire interior before we moved the furniture in. I contacted several painters and half did not show up to even quote and they all wanted more than double the price than Miguel. Miguel was not only half the price but he showed up on time and started the job immediately!! I trusted him and his crew in our house and consider Miguel a true professional in customer service and painting.
