Ryan from Getter Done just left after 4 hours of working in my backyard planting some bushes and…read morerunning drip irrigation lines to them. He had to deal with working on a slope for half the project and dealing with a lot of rocks and gravel. He also sprayed the slope for weeds. He arrived early (big thumbs up) and I told him my budget (not much) and what I needed done. Well, my backyard now has several new plants and drip lines and everything looks great. I told Ryan that when I get some more money saved up I'll be contacting him again for more work. I have a long list of things that need getting done. One of the things I liked about Ryan is that if he doesn't know about something he can draw upon his friends who work in various fields, like today he got advice on which emitters to use for the particular plants I had put in and he managed to get me a deal on some of the supplies. As they say, the best advertising is word of mouth, and I recommend that if you need a handyman you give Ryan a call first. (Even around the holidays!)

When we discovered our roof had been leaking in hidden areas so long that in places mushrooms had…read morebegun to grow--besides mold--our insurance company insisted the roof be repaired professionally before they would cover the costs to mitigate the damage done to the inside of the house. We were referred to Juan and Xtreme Roofing. Juan came promptly, surveyed the damage, and provided an estimate (insurance did not pay for the roof, but they were great at covering the interior work). Not only was the estimate reasonable--as well as the final cost--but the work was done efficiently and on schedule. The insurance company then spent some time flying a drone over the finished work to verify satisfactory completion. (Some of the problems resulted from an improper installation of a plumbing drain vent [no flashing was used] during the original construction--26 years ago; other issues were simply age related in conjunction with poor drainage design.) We plan to have them come regularly to make sure everything remains waterproof and in good repair--we do not want to go through the destruction and renovation process again.

They were supposed to winterize the drip system and told me they had done it. Come spring the backflow had to be replaced because they never winterized it. Then it was rebuilt by Anthony. The backflow was never tightened up and leaked everywhere when it was turned on. They came back and fixed the backflow but never turned the water back on. So the whole season nothing was getting water. Every time I asked if everything was working and getting water I was told yes. So when I finally took it upon myself to check for myself, I discovered they never turned the water back on after fixing the backflow for the second time. So the whole spring and summer they lied to me about the plants getting water. So I'm working up a case with the Registrar of Contractors office.
