The best most addictive workout around! I've been a member of Orangetheory for 3 years and probably…read morespent at least 1/3 of my time taking classes at this location. Its got great coaches & staff and is super easy to book classes using the app. What to expect - If you've never taken a class at any studio before, let me break it down for you. Each class has 3 parts. A treadmill portion, a rowing portion and a free weights portion. The coaches guide you through what you should be doing on the treadmills, and rowers and demo all the weights for you to go at your own speed on the floor. Once you get into it, you will understand the buzzwords of Base, Push and All Out on the treads so you know how fast to go as a jogger/runner or what incline to hit as a power walker. Rowing is about strokes per minute and wattage (60% legs, 20% arms, 20% core). You'll have a warm up, and hard workout and a cool down all in an hour. Hot Topic - COVID. This place uses a temp check at the door, and gives you hand sanitizer upon walking in. Masks are required, just not while you're at your set station exerting yourself during the workout (but anytime you move from your station). You wipe down the equipment you use after use (can even do it before too) and the entire studio is fogged/sanitized in between classes. I feel more safe here than at the grocery store. If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't! Everyone is SO nice and happy to help with your form, help you find what pace is best for you and encouraging. Its definitely not easy, but its doable. I ran marathons prior to joining orangetheory and I'm pretty sure I went a threw up after my first class LOL but I'm still here 3 years later!

What else would you want as you're working out?! These workouts are hard, but the supportive environment and motivating coaches will help you achieve your goals and get the most out of your workout. I had a membership here for a few months - my membership was for 8 classes a month - roughly 2 classes a week. I paid about $90 a month, making each class about $11. I loved my workouts here, and would highly recommend it to anyone. The only reason I cancelled was because I didn't want to spend so much money.

I absolutely love my Orange Theory Gym at Nickel Plate. I started going in September, as I've heard…read moreraving reviews about OTF in general for many years. I was always scared to go because I don't really consider myself "athletic" and working out around people always intimidated me. Well I got engaged, so eminent wedding photos was the push I needed to finally go! And I am so happy I did. No other work out plan has pushed me so hard and made me feel so strong. The team is so incredibly encouraging, and I've never felt too weak or too unaccomplished to be there. It's a welcoming place; they'll push you hard, but it's all in good spirit. I've been going three months now and I've seen a noticeable change in my strength (I actually have some muscles now?!) and in my confidence. Plus it's made me a morning person, which I never thought possible before (I go to the 6:20am class). If you end up going, definitely try Coach Tony's class!! He has the BEST playlists.

I loved the orange lights - they add an extra element of excitement to get you in the zone!!...Along with the energizing music!! The workout itself was awesome!!! I am definitely feeling the soreness, but it is reinforcing a great workout! The row machine is sneaky! I definitely feel like my regular cardio helped me do well with the OTF class, but I think the row machine targeted muscles I must never use!! Ha! I got a very gently used burn heart rate monitor off Marketplace the next day and am super excited to go back and use it!!

Well, it was definitely a workout. I do like the fact that it was a workout that I would never put…read moretogether myself. The biggest issue I had was that the coach did not go through the workout with us beforehand. My friend and I found ourselves confused at times about what we were supposed to do at times. Also, the workout is not really tailored to each persons needs or capabilities and you also don't really get one in one time with the coach. I know this was a first time visit but this visit essentially can help a person decide if this is the gym for then or not.

Same great OTF workout in a great location and space!…read more The Avon location is super convenient with a lot of parking, just off Highway 36/Rockville Road. I walked in and was blown away by the size of this location (twice the size of the other lol location I have been too). Clean and bright with an open reception area, lockers, three showers, and a blow-dry station - it is setup for you to easily head to work after your workout. Orange theory is a zone based workout and good for all fitness levels. When you arrive, you will borrow or buy their heart rate monitor. The monitor connects with the OTF system and displays your heart rate, zone, calories burned and the "splat points" - which are basically the top two heart rate zones. Worried people are looking at your numbers? They are not. If they are, they got ripped off because you are working hard enough in these classes that you won't have time to look over the other numbers on that screen! I have knee issues and use alternatives for many parts of class, coaches are great about that. Rowers, treadmills, free weights, bosu, TRX, etc. I burn 400-600 calories in every class I have attended. Coach Erin was great. I have also taken class from Coach Lauren, as she teaches in Bloomington too - she is the best! Give it a try! First workout is free.
