Terrible store. Zero customer service. I walk in. Was not even greeted then I waited at least 10 minutes to get someone's attention. One associate said she would be right with me. I waited another 7 minutes. They did not have the product I wanted in stock. One of the associates said they would check the back. Never did! I went into the Mac store on 125th thinking it was going to be a nightmare, but I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service I received. It was super hectic in there because of proms and graduations. One poor girl came in there crying because she needed her makeup done. I watched as the staff helped her calm down and had her radiating in no time. My daughter had her makeup done for Junior Prom by Ivette. She was amazing. Not only did she pay attention to what we wanted , but she was greeting people (some even by name) and making sure people were attended to with a smile ... and even gave my daughter a little tutorial on her eyebrows. Went shopping got accused of stealing! Zero customer service. A month ago I visited the 125th store to turn in my recycled items and pick up a new lipstick. As I walked into the store, no one greeted me. No one acknowledges a customer had entered the store - not even an hello. It didn't appear that there were any associates in the front of the store to offer assistance. I found the lipstick counter to begin looking at samples. As I'm taking my time, not any rush, I helped someone with directions and continued looking for my new color. Then a security guard approached me and told me to empty my pockets, accusing me of stealing. First, I was shocked and didn't quite understand what he was asking. When he repeated the request, I was livid!!!!! Other than I the fact that I was standing in front of a display trying sample product there was no reason to believe that I had taken anything. Having been in retail management for nearly 20 years, I'm fully aware of the steps that are to be taken when approaching a suspected shoplifter, 1st being to offer a little customer service. The guard simply didn't have a clue. Once the Store Manager realized I was an actual customer she eventually told the guard to back off and let me be, but she still didn't do the one thing that could have rectified the situation - offer any customer service!! She seemed totally indifferent, even when I asked for the District/Regional Manager's contact information. I get the impression that this is a regular occurrence. Don't shop anywhere you are not treated well. Money is power. If a store can't show me the respect, courtesy, and service as a customer they do not get my money. read more

After reading many of the reviews, I was under the impression that the artists at this location have the same overwhelmingly elitist attitude that so many other MAC artists have (and honestly, with no merit), but fortunately for me, I didn't have a bad experience. Full disclaimer, I went in knowing exactly what I wanted, didn't need any help. However, I was greeted immediately upon walking in, by security and an artist. I was helped within about 5 minutes of standing around, it was a Sunday afternoon and pretty busy. The artist got my products and another patron's products in a timely manner and was ready to ring us up. My only qualm is, being a pro member I get a discount and didn't have my pro card. Idk what it is but sometimes the artists act like its life or death if you don't have it, I typically show my ID to get the discount, all my info is in the system. I came in here & stood on the line. When it was my turn the RUDEST sales person who said her name was Janice starts to talk to another coworker. Laughing & joking wasting my valuable time. It was about to rain outside & I was getting very impatient. 5 minutes later she walks from the counter I say are you ready to help me? She snaps. I'm like excuse me. She goes I thought you got an attitude because that was my manager I was talking to. I say Yes it was a little rude I'm the customer. Can you just help me? I'm looking for Frost lipstick she's like we don't have it. I'm like I just saw it she's like is it Angel is it frosting. I said FROST, if I knew any other name I'd say that. I'm like can you look it up? She then starts helping someone else because they were here "long". I was here longer! Janice is rude when she continued helping the other person I left. This was my worst shopping experience anywhere regardless of what I was buying!! I wud have got more help from someone in CVS buying $5 lipsticks and make up,than I did being prepared to drop $100s on make up at MAC! Seriously the customer service is what kills this place. I made a 1pm appointment for a Sunday to get my makeup done for my baby shower and showed up 30 mins early. I waited of course as someone else was getting her makeup done. 1pm came and nothing. 1:15pm came and still nothing. It wasn't until 1:35pm that the makeup artist next to me all along finally apologized for running behind. He took it upon himself to start helping a walk in customer with a full face of cosmetics at 12:55pm which caused him to run behind although I was sitting right there the whole time! Had I known he was the one who was going to do my makeup I would have approached him earlier. When he finally started my face I only had 20 mins before I had to leave. The finished product was nice looking but I won't be going back. I'll take my pregnant behind downtown next time. read more

I visited the 125th Street location last week, excited that their was one so close to home. I live in Sugar Hil. I was horrified by the lack of customer service. I entered the location and was not greeted, in fact I was down right ignored for about ten minutes. After being waved away by one employee, I ran into another who said that she could only help me if I already knew what I wanted, other wise I was on my own. I finally interrupted an employee in the midst of a make-up consultation and asked him where I could get some help. His reply was "You gotta catch em when their free, its busy in here." Then he suggested that I wait near the register for assistance. I took his advice and a young lady named Kay (?) came to assist me. She recommend a product for me, which upon returning it to the Time Square location, I found that it was actually meant for older women (I am 21 years old). When I questioned her about whether or not their may be a color that was closer to my natural skin tone she replied "your not really supposed to compare your skin with make up to your skin with out make up" -.- She also provided me with a stippling brush even though I asked for a flat foundation brush, which I realized after I left the store since she was in such a rush to check me out. Subsequently I visited both the M.A.C location located in Macy's Herald Square, as well as the Time Square location....125th makes M.A.C look horrible...other locations are sooo much better. read more

It was very busy and Make up artist Ivette did her best to get through each person quickly as possible to satisfy their needs as well as mine. This rating is for my make up artist Eddie...OMG!!!! He was amazing, we came in for a pre-wedding makeup session with our soon to be bride. We walked in, was sized up by 2 young ladies who were so NOT friendly or warm, in fact they were down right ratchet. We had an appointment, we arrived 10 minutes before our appointment and were simply ignored and brushed off by those two ladies. I decided to approach the only guy we saw in the store, explained to him that we had an appointment and immediately, he explained he was finishing up with another client but he would take us next. Eddie was so efficient, warm and most important, he was personable and the consummate professional. Those women should either be in the back room stocking supplies or they should be retrained, they bring down the overall experience of what you expect to get in a MAC store. This MAC store needs work!! I booked a makeup appointment at this location and was not expecting this MAC to be so...um ghetto for lack of a better word. The 2 ladies that were there lacked professionalism, and product knowledge. I booked an appointment for makeup on a hot summer day. It wasn't to busy but the makeup artist/ employee kept walking away during my appointment to help customers without any regard to apologize or to even let me know she was going to be stepping away. Also, there were inappropriate side conversations that were going on between 2 employees made me feel very uncomfortable to say the least- all while getting my makeup application. My makeup took 2 hours which was entirely to long. When i finished i felt like my makeup was extremely to heavy and dramatic. The girl who did my makeup asked me where I was going and i mentioned a small barbecue with family and friends she made me look like drag queen going to perform at a show. I showed her a picture of a soft brown smokey eye and she gave me a burnt orange brownish and gold eyeshadow color that was not blended out enough. Omg and the eyeliner was a major fail along with the winged tip. My wing was more like a line on a angle. She also highlighted and contoured the crap out of my face. When i mentioned to her that i thought it was to much for me and what look i was going for. She immediately gave me backlash telling me that its going to photograph differently as in better, which i then had to forcefully tell her to take some of the highlight down/off. Walking out i felt very insecure and heavy like i could feel all the makeup caked on my face & it didn't look good to me. But i kept the makeup on and went on with my day, by the end of the night I had raccoon eyes because of all the eyeliner she put, and my eyeshadow was deteriorating due to the natural oils on my eye lids. Also i was not able to save or post any pictures from that night because every picture i took with flash i looked like i had on funeral makeup.- so ashy! It looked like child did my makeup with old drug store products! Extremely unimpressed and disappointed. So i definitely will not be back at this location for retail or any services. read more

I visited the MAC in Harlem NYC yesterday just out of the spur of the moment and my experience there was horrible. I'm used to the MAC. Staff in NJERSEY shirt hills mall or manhattan Mac stores. I went in this store looking for help I wanted to buy two foundations and a powder. The women that came to help me was about 5'9 in heels thick thighs with a short hair cut. I didn't get her name but SHE WAS NOT NICE. she didn't want to help me she was all over the place. She kept asking me was I making a perchus today I told her yes like five times I told her I want a color that's closer to my skin she says nc45 is my color. I ALREADY knew she would say that. NC45 is lighter then me. Do u want me to ring it up. And I'm thinking lady we didn't even try and match the color to my skin. And the way she spoke to me with this attitude undertone. Then she didnt come back. No one else stepped up. Theres a lot more to the story but to make it shorter, That lady was a mess. So I said in my head I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE U TAKE MY MONEY so I walked out and I WILL ONLY deal with manhattan or jersey short hills soho MAC stores. I wish I got her name. I walked into this Mac cosmetics Location and I knew exactly what I wanted. I had been to the westchester mall location (great customer service) and I had a list written by one of their employees. I entered the Mac 125th street location and was not greeted at all. I stood at the counter for twenty minutes, politely and I watched employees that were just standing around doing nothing walk pass me and continue to ignore me. I finally went up to one and asked for help, they told me they were on break. After ten more minutes two women walked in and they were greeted and helped. after a while kenya,or kenia , greeted me and helped me. She gave me advise on skincare products and rang me up for my purchases. This was a terrible Mac experience that I will never forget. I thank kenia or kenya for her kindness but i will not be returning to this location ever again. These employees need to learn how to treat people. read more

First time getting my makeup done at a MAC Store.. I was going crazy trying to find a good MUA to do my makeup for my baby shower. I came across an old friend and he was very sweet and kind to see me at such short notice. First time getting my makeup done with him. I went in and everyone was super kind and professional i felt very welcomed. I am not going to lie but I was a bit nervous at the beginning being that i am so picky and have a very sensitive/acne-prone skin that in which I've been dealing with for a long time now.. But my experience with him was WONDERFUL!!! He knew exactly what look i wanted in which i never even mention.. he was such an expert very detailed extremely professional and knew exactly how to treat my face and color matched me perfectly. Therefore,my makeup session with Eddie Lee(MUA) was amazing and i will definitely be back!! My makeup was FLAWLESS and looked Beautiful! Overall, i was very happy and satisfied!!! It's a Saturday afternoon and my baby shower was in a couple of hours and I was running late for my makeup appointment. I was stressed!! I called the store and a young woman named Yvette answered and assured me that although I am late someone will assist me when I came into the store. I was also notified that the artist will have to step aside to help other guest when needed. I was cool with that since it was Saturday and all of the appointments were booked for that day as well as other Mac locations. I had my share of bad experiences at Mac locations but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this gem in Harlem. I walked into the store and I was greeted by artists and even the security guard. Yvette, who I realized was the store manager was so nice and professional seated me next to a makeup station and had an artist named Kenya come to assist me. Kenya!!!! When I say her energy level was on high, and she had me laughing the whole time. I really didn't mind when she had to step off to help someone else. Kenya was not only nice but she also let me know what she was applying to my face. Coming from a retail background I can understand how hectic a store can get during peak times. At one point the store got super crowded with customers and it seemed everyone was on cue and jumped to help customers. Yvette has an amazing team and she is doing an amazing job. I say amazing because I never seen a Mac location where everyone was polite and took their time to find the right product for you. I left feeling so happy and relaxed. I had to make a last minute makeup appointment for a shoot and MAC was my last resort. I was nervous about it because, "What if I get the new makeup artist who doesn't know what they're doing?" I had the wonderful luck and pleasure of having Eddie as my makeup artist for the day. He made sure to ask pointed questions about the look I wanted and what was needed. Throughout the process he would stop to consult me about his next step, which I thoroughly appreciated. The outcome was everything I could have asked for. My skin looked flawless without being cakey or extra. He perfectly executed what I asked for. And he was SO sweet to boot. We chatted as he applied and I felt as though he really cared about my needs. I loved what he did so much that I booked him again for something a week later! Mac on 125 was one of the best things that could hv happened to Harlem along with makeup artist Ros who works there. Always very friendly and attentive. I love Mac products. However, the makeup artists at this store were not very nice (The manager included). I wanted to buy products to contouring. Yesterday I had the time to sit. I explain I would come pick everything up the next day during my 20 min break which was payday. They switch me to a lady who said she could only do half my face. I didn't mind, but that didn't happen. I had her put my name into the computer, so she could see I was a repeater customer. I was really trying to get help....THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GET IT. I only go to this MAC - I've visited a few others and this one just has good vibes and each artist is so good at what they do. Never pressed to make a sale - but to just help you look amazing. My favorite girl is Qhueta. She is absolutely stunning and many customers come back just to see her. I will with 30+ minutes just to talk and have her help me. I'm not sure about everyone else's review but I will say this, going to a busy store when you're crunched for time or you "just don't feel like waiting" then don't go shopping period. i HATE this location, ive gone way to many times only because its the closest location to me, horrible customer service and are always out of many items and hardly ever have full new collections for example yesterday i went in to try the new foundation and the girl told me they only have a select few colors... one of the girls aasked if i needed anything she was tall thick short almost boy like haircut i asked for a specific foundation which she went to get but i also told her i wanted to try a new concealer and try the foundation i was buying to make sure its the correct color and as im waiting on one of the chairs i see her at the register i was thinking she was looking something up but then she says are you done? and i walk over to see she was ready to check me out with only the foundation in hand and didnt ask me if i needed anything else or checked if that was the correct item at that point i was mad already so decided to check out without any other items and as im standing there im applying a little moisturizer and shes standing with a look and goes are you done? again are you ready? and i said yes and just left. she was horrible the only reason i went back to that location was because there was one girl who i loved she was a a hispanic small women in her 30's with a dark caramel skin color i love her but she wasnt there that day... also while the women who attended me was looking for an item i asked for one of the other workers asked whats wrong and she said '' everytime i try to go someone looks at me for help'' to which the male trans worker said '' so stop looking at people'' so RUDE BTW the 1 star was only for that hispanic worker whom i forgot her name read more

This place is always busy and most of the time I only go there to pick up what I already know I want because getting customer service is close to none, they are extremely under staffed. However on this Friday to my surprise there were a lot of artist on the floor and I was attended to immediately, I initially walked in there to pick 1 thing and walked out with about 5, so you know how much I had to have spent, I'll just have to look at it as I am satisfied with my purchase! Anyway Ashley Perez assisted me and she was amazing!!!!! She was not only polite, she was patient and she walked me through the steps of applying my make up and pretty much gave my face a full beat in the end. With that being said that is what prompted me to by a lot of product, more than I intended. She also had me practice applying, I am not really one to wear much make up but she showed me the beauty of it when I do. She was so good I am considering using her services when I want a make over! I highly recommend if you go to this store ask for Ashley Perez, she has shown me how to contour my face, which is not easy however she made it so simple for me.
