I own a 2016 Macbook Pro. I live in Kailua Kona 4-6 months every winter. My display started acting up, text jagged, lines across the screen 1 mm apart. I hoped it was a loose cable from the logic board to the display. I called on Monday to see if they were open ( Covid-19 time in Hawaii) & since they were I drove over (3 hours RT). Henry was very helpful, checked out the laptop & told me what it would cost to check out (probably in 2-3 days) & told me how much it would cost if the display had to be replaced (OUCH!). The next day Seth called to tell me that indeed it was the display having tried to reseat the connections to no avail. I agreed to have the display replaced by having Apple send it to them from the mainland. On Friday morning, Seth called me & said the replacement display had come in, had been installed, worked fine & was ready to be picked up. I drove back over to Hilo, checked the laptop out, everything looked & paid. Even though I feel that Apple should have had some kind of recall or at least partial payment of a repair that should not happen on a Macbook Pro, I cannot fault Mac Made Easy for the work they did or the amount they charged me. My MacBookPro was almost out of (AppleCare) warranty, so I rushed in here after it failed. They had to send it to the mainland for extensive repairs. The staff especially Michael was very professional. They kept me up to speed throughout and the computer was received back within just 5 days after an estimated 10 day turnaround. read more

This place was amazing! My poor mac wasn't working, and after feeling uneasy about leaving my computer there, they surprised me by calling me the next day to tell me what was wrong as well as be patient as I decided the various alternatives of treatment. Not only was I surprised and joyful with the quality when I received my mac back, but somehow it feels almost new! From fixing some simple quirks such as a scratch on my touchpad to a quick and efficient fix, I would definitely recommend this place to others. Not to mention that all the workers I met were very kind and sweet! Only downside was I think they accidentally tossed my cover for the mac, but I got a much nicer and definitely needed one instead. Eric has helped me on more than one occasion here and I just have to say that if you are looking for honest help, quick, knowledgable and efficient workers, GO TO MAC MADE EASY! I have gone to them for my laptop not starting up, for stuck keys, and a failing hard drive. I so appreciate the now THREE times that the folks at Mac Made Easy, Jesse, Eric, Isaiah and Lee, have fixed my 2007 [OLD] Mac Pro Tower. They are friendly and helpful and professional and went way beyond the call of duty to get my computer up and running as soon as possible. I AM going to upgrade to modern hardware, but it's going to be a lot easier being able to access my current machine, rather than working from backups. I was in this store yesterday (08/30/17). There was a lot of yelling going on between a man and woman in the store in front of customers. When I asked later I found out they were the owners. Not sure what was really going on but it definitely was very awkward and I don't think I will be going back. I feel bad for those workers! Our Mac Book Air had a bug and some aps wouldn't load. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. After trying a few things they decided we needed to leave it for a technician to look over. We got a call the next day that it was ready. We picked it up and paid $60. We highly recommend them for their knowledge, helpfulness, speedy service, and fair cost. read more

I can't say enough good things about how Megan and Mac Mad Easy took care of my daughter and her computer. She is a UH Hilo student and had accidentally spilled water into her keyboard, we were expecting them to say it wa toast and we needed a new one, but they took it apart cleaned it up, backed up the data and sent it off to Apple to be repaired. Because of the time and effort they took in cleaning and preparing it before sending it off Apple was able to repair it for a reasonable cost. Megan took very good care of our daughter as well as communicating with us over the phone. I would highly recommend Mac Made Easy, and our experience with customer service was exceptional. read more

Went in looking for a external hard drive with little knowledge about it and I went in to the store and customer service was great! Workers were really knowledgeable about their products and I left the store learning more about different apple products definitely a place to go to if you have any problems with apple products. These guys used to be great but apparently they have been sold to new owners. All the old staff are gone and the customer service is awful. Took my phone in to get fixed, they don't do repairs anymore, so they made me buy a new one which was refurbished they did not tell me that until after I got it. They took the old screen cover off my old phone and broke it. They did not even offer to replace the screen cover. They lost a valuable customer I have bought two iPads from them and an iPhone. Never again will I buy anything from them again. read more

They broke my phone. I took my Iphone 5 in for a battery replacement through the Apple recall. Was called on Friday afternoon to say that they had the part in and that they are timed on repairs so please come get it. Couldn't make it to the store that weekend and was planning to go Tuesday, however I was left a voicemail on Monday afternoon stating that they had to return the battery because they had had it too long. They had the battery 4 days. I tried calling them that afternoon to let them know that I would be in on Tuesday to get it, however the phone number was "unavailable at this time". I tried calling four times. Since I figured they had returned the battery, I was going to get the repair done through mail in to Apple instead. I then received another phone call on Wednesday, could I please come get my battery because they have to return it. So, they apparently lie to their customers to create a sense of urgency so they can get better repair times to report to Apple. On top of this, when they did replace the battery they broke my phone. After the battery was replaced the screen was shaking and flickering. Do not take your Apple products here! Send them to Apple or go Oahu. P.s. Very bad experience. NSURLSESSIOND was running wild and using most of the bandwidth. I went to ichat with Mac support and it was suggested that I update the OS from 10.11.2 to the current 10.11.4. I went to Mac made easy and they could not join the "Guest WIFI" to verify what I said. With my permission they "updated" the OS by wiping the computer along with the Intego security system. $40 to buy a new subscription. I was told the OS had been updated. This did not work so back to Mac made easy. This time they said the Intego security system was at fault and removed it without my permission. This did not work so back to Mac made easy. Now I was told that It must be a problem with my DSL provider and there was nothing wrong with the computer, BS! I went to Tropic Mac, The Update that Mac made easy installed for $60+ was 10.11.1, older than what was originally installed. Tropic Mac installed the correct update and corrected the original problem. I will never do business with Mac made easy again. read more

My precious and formerly-beloved iPhone 5s was being assailed on multiple fronts: hardware charging problems as well as software programming issues. Ian at the store was extremely helpful against all odds in getting my phone to the service center on the mainland. Mac Made Easy gave me a new loaner during the week while I was waiting. When it was returned, sooner than expected, I found that Apple had sent me a new one. Now I'm back as an avid fan of Apple's phones and especially the local Mac Made Easy store, where they seem to bend over backwards to be of service. They can be busy at times, so just be patient. My iPhone 4G had a funny problem - the flashlight had a mind of it's own and would stay on, even if I turned off the power or the battery died, at all times. This was making my phone overheat in addition to draining the battery. Sometimes you could treat it like one of those 50 cent keychain squeeze lights and it would go on and off with a squeeze... the guy at Mac Made Easy opened it up immediately, diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate, and 15 minutes and $30 I was out the door with a repaired light! No charge for service, no wait or leaving it there and picking it up later, no ordering parts! Also, the store was well-stocked, fairly priced, clean, and cool. I will definitely, and already have, recommend this place to a friend. read more

Horrible. I called to ask if they replace screens and I have the screen for the phone, the person said they would send it to Apple to be like "new" because they can't do it themselfs. It would have cost me $150 to do it when I can just buy 2 small tools to do it for under $10. Horrible place. read more

I left my iPhone on the roof of my car and it ended up flipping off going 30+mph! Lucky I heard the thumps. I thought to myself, thank goodness I have AppleCare+. But to my chagrin, MacMadeEasy couldn't find any record of my policy which was bought along with my new iPhone from Verizon. They could have just charged me the full cost of the repair and left me to deal with the coverage on my own. Instead, at least 3 employees tried to help me figuring out what happened through out the ordeal and acted as my advocate with Apple to get me covered. They were all knowledgeable and sincere. They took excellent care of me. That said, I did encounter one employee besides the 3 who was non-smiling, smug and condescending. Thank goodness I only had a brief exchange with him toward the end. But the experience was annoying enough for me to give this review one less star. Though, I am still very glad that Hilo has a high-quality store like this. read more

My husband purchased from AT&T an Apple iPhone 6s Plus for my birthday. I was having a problem with the phone from day one. I reported it to AT&T several times. They advised me to call Apple for resolution to my problems. Apple referred me to Mac Made Easy, in Hilo, HI. I visited this establishment and encounter a gentleman, Forest, who was extremely professional and personable. He was very knowledgeable and performed his job with a high standard of confidence. This young man was very patient with me being a disabled senior citizen. I must say after reading so many negative reviews about this business and its employees, I had mixed feelings about trusting Mac Made Easy. After my positive experience I highly recommend this business to everyone who needs help and/or to purchase computers and accessories. I've gone to this store 3 times since I moved here and it has been a good experience. They didn't seem rushed and didn't make me feel inept. They also seem pretty enthused about Mac and knowledgeable. They never try to sell me anything, just listen to my issues and give me their honest opinion. This last time I was helped by Chantel (hope it's the right spelling) who checked to make sure my camera works and Eric came later to help figure out why I couldn't use my external hard drive. He ended up repartitioning it and got it ready for me. These two were very friendly and patient, spending the time to do things and explaining things to get me up to speed. I really do appreciate their kindness and Aloha. At my age, trying to figure out how to use the computer can be a challenge. The most incredible thing for me this last time was when I asked how much I owed them for all they had done and they said there was no charge!
