Came here for take-out lunch. Menu is exactly as online so you can look and order ahead of time, which I recommend as soup + wrap was 20minute wait. Place is a cool date spot. not super comfy chairs but great atmosphere and art. Tons of sweets/treats as well. I got the butternut squash soup, 10/10 a great homemade soup. She met with us and discussed all our options, customizing the cake to our exact preferences including doing 2 custom flavours my husband and I each picked (caramel apple cinnamon and chocolate coffee). The cake turned out exactly like the drawing She made. Not only was it beautiful, but it was delicious and moist and not overly sweet. She also delivered it to the venue and put all the finishing touches on it such as the flowers and cake topper. When I first walked in I was mesmerized by the artwork displayed all over the walls. They have board games available. In the bathroom they have a jellyfish made from plaster on the wall. The ambiance of confections cake is above par. There were so many food items I'd love to try, I can't wait to go back. The females that were working were so friendly. Only complaints is the seating, not weight friendly, in terms of if you have a thiccc booty it will be very uncomfortable to sit on, and depending on how tall you are, your feet won't touch the ground. I've been to confections 3 times now - twice as a family treat, once to a private birthday party, and I've had their fancy cakes at parties! Confections is a solid 4 - almost 5 star in my books! My daughter loves their fancy schmancy macarons for a treat, hubby likes their cake, and I was surprisingly surprised by their chocolate cupcakes at a private function - not too sweet still decadent yum! They also serve wine, beer, and cocktails with a ficus on local - Alley Kat beer and Hansen's Distillery liquors. And of course there's coffee if that's more your thing! They have a few appetizer like bites as well but really you need only come here for the sweets. The vibe is modern eclectic. Currently there's a wall of portraits with an 80's splatter paint vibe featuring Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Jay-Z, Axl Rose, Jimi Hendrix & more. There's also a fishy wooden particle board elephant above the fireplace - yeah, you read that right! I love the idea of a late night dessert bar and wanted so badly to like it here. I think it was too new when we tried it (shortly after opening) and they had some kinks to iron out. The space itself is dark, filled with lots of dark, warm wood for a sexy coffee house feel. Lots of original art pieces and space - felt big for the few tables that were set up. Service was a bit awkward, but again, it could be new-business jitters. We ordered a regular coffee, their signature Baked Canadian and another dessert, but were brought a berry cheesecake. That's ok! I like cheesecake too. They brought us a tiny portion of caramel corn to start and it was delicious, but very soft. The cheesecake was great and I'm glad they brought us that instead of whatever we ordered. It was smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of berries on top. I'd definitely get that again. Unfortunately, the Baked Canadian looked better than it turned out to be. The chocolate cake inside was moist but didn't have much flavour, and the plentiful meringue was too much. It wasn't like a gooey meringue you'd get on a lemon pie, but just fell flat in taste - like airy foam. For $15 we would choose something else next time. Their social media showcases a lot of custom cakes and they all look beautiful. Also, they do workshops and classes! I'd try it again now that they have been open for a bit. read more

The ambience of this place is super cool. If I had money I would buy a couple paintings on the walls. If it wasn't this crazy covid world I probably would have sat down and tried an appy and a drink. The peach cheesecake was good but actually having peaches in it surprised me, I thought it would just be topping but I guess they actually do authentic cakes. Horrible customer service. I've been in a few times and the staff are incredibly rude (they don't even want to help you or pay attention to you). I wanted a quote for a cake and she was annoyed to help me with anything. ignored us and only helped the two people that were sitting down. One time it took us 20+ minutes to get an order to go. We got ignored and were not acknowledged as customers. Other times they close the store randomly without notice. Overall, just bad service and rude staff. Won't be coming back. read more

This is a charming little place that everyone should have the joy of experiencing, it will not disappoint. The first time we went it was Christmas time and there was an enormous real Christmas tree set up and adorable Christmas treats and cookie boxes for purchase. Everything is made on site. We ordered coffee, hot chocolate, gingerbread and the kids got milk and cookies. The cookies were baked while we had our drinks and came out hot and fresh, ready to dunk. The adults even wished they had ordered some for themselves. Before we left we got a special surprise, Santa Claus! This place offers special baking classes, custom made cakes and goodies as well as holiday themed treat boxes such as valentines and Easter cookie kits. This is a delightful little place in downtown St. Albert. For some weird reason, all the restaurants in the immediate area seem to close at 8pm but this little gem stays open until 10pm. Nice decor inside and the couple working (maybe a couple?) were very friendly and inviting. We learned that they have live music every few weeks, baking classes and they do custom cakes. We had a coffee and cake (I think it was just called 'fruit'). It was a white cake with some berries, vanilla buttercream and the most delicious icing that melted in my mouth. Nice atmosphere and great for a date night. We look forward to returning and trying more delicious deserts. Keep up the good work! read more

This business ended up charging us for 2 adults, when we only got one tray of product. So instead of $90 which was reasonable, they ended up charging us $180 and we didn't want to cause a scene, so my wife just paid the fee. The newest local restaurant in St. Albert, Confections lives up to the hype. It is located in downtown St. Albert, next door to Jack's Burger Shack. It serves desserts and a variety of drinks. There are so many awesome choices on the menu, so we chose a few and shared amongst our group. The chocolate mousse was the highlight of the desserts we chose, although the other desserts were just as amazing. For kids, there is a wonderful option of a simple milk and cookies. But, the cookies are made fresh to order, so they come out piping hot! Confections also does custom cakes. Think Cake Boss type cakes! We viewed their picture album of cakes and were simply wowed.
