We really enjoyed coming here today. We fished at the tahoe trout farm and brought our fish here for a meal. If you bring your own fish that you caught, its $39 a person. We ordered our fish to be deep fried and it was amazing. They tell you that it takes a minimum of 2 hrs for fish to be prepared if you bring your own, but we were able to get ours within about 30mns. We're huge foodies, so we also ordered the restaurants breadstick that they bake into a circular shape. I didn't see it on the menu, but we saw another couple that had it, so we asked to order it too just for $5. We also tried the pizza and buffalo wings. The pizza was amazing! The breadsticks are so worth it! The wings are good too! All the servers were really nice. Any time a server walked by, they would always ask if we needed anything. Went tonight as a "redemption opportunity," haven't been in years (7 years!) since our last visit was pretty bad, actually, very bad (extremely poor service and inedible food -raw cabbage!) Pros- tonight's service was quite good. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The French onion soup was as good as I remembered. Our cocktails also went down quite nicely! Cons- outside of drinks and soup, everything else was meh to bad. We ordered fish and chips, the fish was wet, like when you take a frozen piece of fish and you don't pat it down well to dry. The wetness stays, even after cooking. The fries also became soggy too, since the fish was placed right on top. Even with these issues, I would say the dish was "meh." What bummed me out more was the bread pudding. It was a dish we used to love to order... I took two bites and was done. The texture of the bread wasn't good. It also used to come out pipping hot, it came out warm to slightly hot. And lastly, they ran out of vanilla ice cream and substituted with salted caramel, but didn't elect to tell us beforehand. I'm not a salted caramel ice cream person, I think it's too sweet...didn't eat any ice cream (and I love ice cream!) , so sadly, dessert was a total bust for me! Another con... the carpet on the stairs is in need of some major cleaning (or replacement!) and the restrooms also have a very strong mildew smell... not pleasant, especially before eating. Really want to give this a 4.5. Had a great lunch here this week. We were able to sit outside and service was great. We were there a little late so I think we were the only diners there. We were in a group of 7 and had some tasty apps - the onion rings were good - Maui onions - but just a little undercooked batter. We had the shepherds pie, salad, corned beef cabbage, wedge salad, clam chowder, and veggie burger. We didn't live the veggie burger but super happy with everything else. Portions are big. I really did not feel like going somewhere fancy like I usually do in Tahoe. After searching around a bit I decided to come here given the large food menu and the decent cocktail selection based on the menu online. I am so glad I did and will be adding this to my rotation. I got lucky since they still had st pattys specials. I love scotch eggs and a good potato leek soup. Everyone was super attentive and friendly and they checked in on me regularly. I've never been a big pub person but they do it well with lots of spaces. I managed to get a table by the window so it was a smidge more quiet. The place was pretty packed by 7. I can't believe I've skipped this spot so many times. Sometimes your girl just needs to put away her champagne and touch some grass lol. I enjoyed it so much I came can the next day. I'm a creature of habit and I love good food so this will be part of my rotation. So glad I ventured out! The drinks are strong and heavy with a pretty good draft selection as well. Potato leek soup: so good I ordered it 2 days in a row. Asked for no sour cream dollop the second time. Scotch eggs: not easy to find and my goodness so delicious. Cottage pie: didn't do the shepherds pie since I generally don't eat lamb. Pretty much the same with cheese on top. I do want to take my part Irish hubby here since I've never had shepherds pie made with lamb, even in Australia it was made with beef. The only dessert option is bread pudding so I skipped. But I will try it on a day I'm not too stuffed, which might be pretty hard with the portion sizes! Yummy food that's more than abundant in portion size, and a big enough variety to suit most palates. Our favorite spot in town! Spent 3 days on a family fishing trip and came here twice on the trip. All the food was soooo good and the service was friendly and felt like welcoming from all the staff. We caught some fish and dropped it off around 3pm and came back around 6pm and they had it made 3 ways! We loved how they cooked the fish and made it so easy for us to eat our catches! We will surely do this again next time we are in town and recommend to anyone who wants their fish cooked for them. All their food on their menu was good; chicken pot pie, shepherd pie, pizza, spaghetti, sandwiches, chilli, clam chowder, beets salad, and they even have Guinness on tap!! Went back bc we loved it so much last year. The ambiance is cozy casual pub that is clean and organized. The service is still as stellar with the 'every table is my table' philosophy. The chili came out cold and tasted canned, the pepperoni pizza was decent but the cheese was rubbery, and my friend's fish and chips were very bland. Came here for Mother's Day. Food and service is great! Kind of tucked away on a side street but it's right across the street from the lake. Interior def looks and feels like an old school Irish pub. A must visit when coming to Lake Tahoe. They have a great outside seating area which also has an outdoor high top seat bar out the back which also includes a TV with sports regularly playing on it. The food is definitely filling, and amazing. A lot of dishes are shareable so everyone can have a taste of many of their entrees as well if you come in a big group; OR you can have a LOT of something you love :0). Service here is good but mind you it does get hectic so sometimes you gotta be patient. I try to ask for everything I need all at once to ensure I don't have trouble enjoying my food. I found MacDuff's Pub on Yelp and went there based on the good reviews and pics. We came for a late breakfast/brunch and got a nice table on the patio with a small view of the lake. Service was friendly, easygoing, and helpful. We ordered the French Onion Soup ($12), Shepard's Pie ($27), and Fish and Chips ($28). The French Onion Soup was good, but a little too salty for me. The Shepard's Pie came with fresh ground lamb, carrots, onions, peas, and celery with gravy, and topped with mashed potatoes and green onions. It was delicious! Everyone liked it. The Fish and Chips were good. The fish was crispy and really tasty with the homemade tartar sauce provided. The "chips" or fries were okay. I liked the simple small side of peas with the meal. MacDuff's continues to reign supreme as my favorite restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. Service is as friendly and helpful as ever and as I try more menu items, it adds to the list of expertly crafted salads, soups, appetizers, burgers, pasta and pin favorites. Thankfully, a lot of them come with their amazing, fresh house-made fries which are a perfect size in between shoestring and restaurant size. I could eat a pound of them, and it seems like that's how generous they are with them. Good comfort food pub with good beers. It was a bit confusing when we arrived because we needed to go to the 2nd floor to get a table, but there was nothing in the front telling us that. A guy in a group that was leaving pointed us in the right direction. Once upstairs, the staff was super friendly and helpful. We got their chicken pot pie, crack Mac (not on the menu - it's their truffle Mac and cheese topped with bolognese), and bread pudding for dessert. The food came out relatively quickly. We were looking for a place to have lunch on our way back home from North Star Ski Resort. At first we were worried since it was New Year's day and some places were closed. We were so lucky to find MacDuff's Pub which is a family friendly restaurant serving Scottish foods. They have a very warm classic pub ambiance and when you walk in you are immediately greeted by the smiling chefs through the service window. They have seating on both 1st and 2nd floor and while the 2nd floor was very lively with music, we were pleased to be the first seated in the more quite 1st floor (more patrons joined not long after). We ordered a bunch of items to get a feel for what they have to offer. Everything was really good however our favorites were the French Onion Soup (the cheese pull was incredible) and the bread pudding with ice cream. However the soup could have used some bread or crackers on the side and we would have liked some extra ice cream on the side that didnt melt into the hot bread syrup. We'll definitely come back to try their famous calamari and mac and cheese. The staff and owners are super friendly and will check in periodically. We loved the fact that we could keep the plastic golden yellow cups as souvenirs! Hope we can visit again soon. read more

The service was friendly and they took our order letting us know that it would be ready in 20-30 mins. Fish and Chips - the fish was lightly coated and not very crispy. Fries were also very soggy. Wouldn't recommend ordering this. Moroccan Lamb Burger - the meat wasn't well seasoned and flavorful. Also wouldn't recommend this order. Real Shepherd's Pie - It was my first time trying Shepherd's Pie, so I was intrigued and made sure to order it. It was tasty and flavorful, I enjoyed it! We always have to have one meal here every time we come to Tahoe. The food is good and the service is usually excellent. Our favorite is the cottage pie. We usually order a cup of clam chowder, but this time we wanted more so we ordered a bowl. They asked us if we wanted a bread bowl and we opted out so they gave us a bread ring instead. The bread ring is soft yummy. It was soft and chewy even the next day it was still good. The pizza was good as always, maybe a little too much green onions. My boys loved the burger and wings. Problem is, you can't see what inside looks like from the host stand, so making a choice is a bit of a shot in the dark. Kind of an awkward interaction when you just want to be seated. I ended up at the outside bar, which was fine as a solo traveler, but it did feel like I was crashing the locals' hangout or the after-shift crew spot. The staff and a group of regulars seemed to know each other well, so it was a little tough to feel comfortable just quietly enjoying my meal. Would I go back? Probably--for that shepherd's pie.
