There is a drive thru to pick up your groceries. Lunds Byerlys are kinda upscale. This grocery store had a recent remodel but it still is not as fancy as Plymouth and other locations. I guess you pay extra having a grocery store so close by.

On my last grocery run, I was lucky enough to find gluten-free vanilla extract for some sweet baked goods, a great selection of Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc wines, and several varieties of dilled crudités (in jars in kosher/ condiment aisles) to lay out with cheeses for a small soirée I threw together. And I look at the label here here's comes from Kanada. Cooking on pasta night I pull out some cheese I bought 3-4 weeks ago. Moldy. Today it was some Boarshead ham from last week. It's slimy and smells funky. It's not the same store or quality it was and founded on. I miss the old Kowalskis and I shop it frequently as I live 3 minutes away. I need to start using Byerlys more. Or go to the Excelsior store like when I run there at lunch while I'm at work.

I came in here wanting something fermented and found just what I was looking for: spicy kimchi. I was delighted to see that they have a great selection of fish-free kimchis along with the traditional anchovy and shrimp containing kinds. There's even a local brand that looks intriguing (next time). I also perused the gift section and bought myself a new lunch bag. I admired the gorgeous alpaca items--the hats are fun and they have some of the most gorgeous knots I've ever seen. Don't miss their mittens and gloves: warm, beautiful, and oh-so-functional (you can fold the tops off for extra dexterity!). I also went through the supplements and beauty section and bought some vitamins (I do love my vitamins) and a lip balm. The lip balms here are all really good, and it's easy to find petroleum free if you prefer. All the ones that I looked at were largely plant-based, though many contain beeswax. Very friendly staff and ample parking make this a great place to grab yourself a treat. (While I wasn't shopping for produce today, I love to go through the produce section. They have an excellent selection of everything, including a wide selection of fresh mushrooms and fresh kale that you can't find in most stores. They also have bulk fresh cranberries! It's a great place to let your culinary imagination run wild (and make your dreams come true if you are so inclined).

The cafe area features some great local eats and honestly feels like a mini food hall! I saw tons of pics from others and had to come give it a try. That said, we came around 6pm and were surprised at how much things felt like they were already winding down. The Buttered Tin appeared to be closing, the Penny Horse Parlour was completely empty, and it was honestly hard to tell what was still open so a little bit confusing for first-timers. I imagine it's busier during the lunch rush maybe! We were able to get a key lime bar right before buttered tin closed and it was amazing! Just like their other locations, tasted exactly the same, just as tart and delicious. For my meal, I ended up getting a cheeseburger and my husband got a vegetarian taco bowl. My cheeseburger was delicious, super moist with perfectly melted cheese. The hand cut fries were also super good, crispy and perfectly salted. My burger meal didn't come with a drink so I'd say roughly the same as a sit down restaurant.
